One of the best Japanese albums of the decade, with an immense variety of influences and sounds and incredible arrangements that transport us to the big cities of the country at that time. The production is very well treated along with all the instrumentation, composition and preparation of the project, every track is worth it! Essential listening to Japanese fusion.
MCR break their start with a post-hardcore album with dark and sad energy but powerful instrumentals and vocal performances. Many of the songs feel incomplete or demos, but other are very well-thought and great. It isn't nothing from another world but it isn't bad either. Very black, barroque and honest, but sometimes a little bit goofy or badly aged.
Skrillex adapts some of those elements that made him famous in his day with house and other current electronic styles, and it suits him wonderfully. He returns with an album that is not boring, each song is different in its own way and the collaborators do everything possible to try to make it the best on the project. As expected, the production of this album is incredibly clean, groovy and moving, dynamic between the tracks and within them, very good sampling and choice of drums and other ... read more
An amazing, hypnotizing and admirable album, an amazing and abstract production work. One of the greatest exponents of the genre, they create one of the most complete, complex, innovative and influential albums of the decade and opens endless paths. All the elements manage to complement each other perfectly, forming a single musical unit immortalized in each of the tracks. Project to study it, incredible listening experience... Immortal.
For my 200th review, I wanted to talk about an album that has changed my musical path for a long time and I think it is one of the best gems that music has given us. Ladies and ladies, "Songs in the Key of Life".
A journey through the rnb that the genius Stevie had been working on during these years, the most frenetic and skillful fusion, the most sincere soul... A very varied sound experience, long but short and, no matter how complicated it may be, with a very solid and effective ... read more
In this LP, PinkPantheress continues on the path they started but developing their ideas further and fusing their style with that of their collaborators in a magnificent way. The tracklist has movement and variety, beautiful melodies and viby chords accompanied with her sweet voice.
She has improved a lot compared to its previous project, this is much more complete and stable, it is nice to see its evolution.
PinkPantheress debut with "To hell with it" with a pop sound but quite particular due to its fast but atmospheric drums and contemporary rnb pads (Which reminds us of the fever of this genre in the 90s). He adapts his sound and compositions to the current situation of music and social networks perfectly by making short and direct songs, which can be seen from a good or bad point of view. I, personally, see that this has helped him expand his audience when debuting (nowadays it is a ... read more
It has simply become a classic, the groundbreaking album of experimental hip-hop and the most influential of the genre for many artists. Boldness, glitchness, rawness and incredible production, obviously a lot of energy and originality.
Death Grips starts very hard with this project, possibly one of the most compact of their career.
I personally love the depressive, wavy, dreamy and dark instrumentals on this projects, I feel them very unique and personal (even more when you listen him singing and rapping those heartbreaking lyrics). The samples and production make you feel as if you were trapped in a video game console from the 90s (from Peggy's childhood) while he talks to you about his terrible emotional situation now that he's older.
It is a very ambient album, not as harsh or abstract as their future projects, but ... read more
A neo-bop album that, in the mid-80s (a time when classic jazz was suffering a serious crisis), Wynton Marsalis achieved an explosive and varied album with his compositions and his trumpet. From the freest jazz to the most complex and progressive solis, this album never ceases to surprise. A very interesting and incredible project.
Good songs, the 80's production and vocals along with jazz elements and structures give an interesting and melancholic vibe to the album. There are many similar projects, but this feels authentic and compact. Sophistication, elegance and darkness hover over the instruments to offer us this great album.
It's okay, the first two tracks break as soon as they enter but the level stays low during the following songs. On that album they show themselves as just another group, with good performances but with a lack of originality (in most of the tracks).
Very fun jams with a perfect tracklist and incredibly played. All the members are brave and skillful in every moment of the album, merging with the other members in a very friendly and brilliant way. This album of live performances of their previous albums is sublime, Casiopea are beastly!
Bold concepts, surprisingly clean production, good performance and arrangements, great grooves... But the folk singing and some somewhat disheveled elements have thrown me off a bit. It's great that people's still experimenting and treating with jazz in very interesting ways, but I think this is not as settled as other albums of the genre.
Kingo Hamada creates the pinnacle album of the Japanese genre and movement belonging to the 80s, city pop, with many influences from different fields (such as jazz or Latin rhythms). This endearing work is born, well produced and arranged, offering us views of the cities of Tokyo at night with its music. The musical richness of this album abounds even though it is a city pop album, and that is why it shines so much and reminds us of other funk projects and similar genres of those times.

A disconcerting but amazing composition, sound and production, bases and samples very well chosen and placed and rapping perfectly coupled to the abstract "beats". The aesthetics of the music combine with the themes that are treated in a dystopian way and fit together, thus forming a very united and stable album as a whole. One of the most interesting projects this year in the experimental hip-hop scene, the world of rap and, directly, in music.
Bill Evans stays stuck in his style and prefers not to innovate or adapt to musical trends, which can be a bit monotonous for some or endearing and beautiful for others. The music is still as good as ever, and so is the tracklist and grouping, and apart from the fine and elegant sound they achieve, I don't find much else interesting. It's fine, it's Evans.
The best Spanish guitar concert done by three brilliant musicians, different in their style but perfectly united by flamenco and jazz. With only 3 guitars they achieve a full, virtuoso and beautiful sound, the fun and enjoyment of the three performers is noticeable throughout the concert. Sublime performance and tracklist!
Another masterpiece by Ohzora Kimishima in this year. More frantic, but still very original and well thought out elements of production, rhythm and harmony, lots of variety of sounds, colors and dynamics... From the loudest and the most glitchy, distorted and crowded instrumentals to the simplest and most decayed ones make up this beautiful and complete album. This is incredibly interesting and enjoyable, with spectacular production and details and a very high musical richness!

It simply seems to me to be an interesting project in some aspects or another, well composed in general and in terms of each song specifically and, something that is difficult in this type of album: the three members manage to bring out their shine.
Beyond the good production and what was mentioned above, it doesn't seem like something very mindblowing or never seen before, but sometimes they seem truly personal.
