Daddy Yankee - Barrio Fino

Don’t know exactly why, but recently I’ve had a sudden urge to visit this album. With the recent Latin craze in the mainstream recently, a lot of what’s out there can be traced back to this album. To put it into perspective this album is to reggaeton like Nevermind was to grunge. Growing up I’ve faintly remember hearing much of this album and having fun to it en las fiestas. Once I’ve heard the first 20 seconds of “Gasolina”, shit was about to crazy. So ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR

Okay, let me get this out of the way first. The admiration and adoration I have for Flower Boy as an album experience is indescribable. One of the few 100s I have for the decade. Now, I wasn't hoping for Tyler, The Creator to further exceed the expectations and hype off Flower Boy, but I was hoping for him to further explore the neo-soul sonics off Flower Boy and that's what exactly what he delivers and more.

Now that isn't to say this album is perfect. There are moments on this where the ... read more

Beyoncé - HOMECOMING: THE LIVE ALBUM

It boils down to a celebration of an artist that needs no introduction at this point. Sure it isn't a studio album where there isn't anything new, but the way she revisions her biggest hits, from Destiny's Child to Lemonade, she finds a way to make them refreshing and seamless. Even some songs I thought were mediocre in their studio versions sound refined and better in a live setting. That's all thanks to the amazing horn section that's worked in throughout the set list and Beyonce's stage ... read more

Little Simz - GREY Area

One of the best albums UK hip hop has to offer. Little Simz and her producers bring great energy on this thing. The way the album flows is amazing. If there's anything holding it back it would be the middle of the track list where I find the production on Venom and 101 FM a little underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the track list. Everything else is top notch.

Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising

I really tried to not get blinded by the hype surrounding this album before its release. And I'll be honest, I wasn't familiar with any of Weyes Blood's previous work besides the singles leading up to this album and I could say that they definitely work better within the context of the album.

This is some amazing shit right here. This entire album just submerges the listener and lures into a direction that is just wonderful. It's as if I'm flying into deep space, restricted by movement as if ... read more
