Amazing album that is influential for a reason. Ex-Factor, Forgive Them Father, Doo Wop, Tell Him, I Used to Love Him, To Zion and the title tracks are highlights.
This album offers a mix of tracks with singing on them and some without. Apart from James’ eclectic production choices that often turn out well, his vocal performances are what entice me. Therefore, my favorite songs are those where his voice is present, like on songs such as Asking to break, the highlights Loading and Tell Me, the former of which contains some amazing vocal manipulation and the latter a futuristic beat if that’s even what you can call it. Then there’s I Want ... read more
This intoduced me to JPEGMAFIA's music, especially 1539 N. Calvert. For me personally, there are better and more consistent outputs on other JPEG projects like LP! or EP!. However, that does not mean that this entire album is bad. Songs like the aforementioned opener, Thug Tears (especially the COLORS version) and Rainbow Six are all standouts on this LP.
I have had some time to digest Utopia. As Travis is an artist who I've been consistently listening to since 2019, I was very excited when hearing that Utopia was on its way. Now that it has released I can say that UTOPIA is yet another quality album of Travis Scott's. Tracks like HYAENA, THANK GOD, SIRENS and the popular FE!N, shortly followed by I KNOW ? start the album off great. Then Topia Twins, the underrated Parasail and Looove keep up my enjoyment. Among the tracklist, there are songs ... read more
In light of all the changes that occured on the tracklist after the initial release making a mess, I am going off of the original Donda version released on August 29. 2021. When this album released I was having lunch on vacation in a restaurant, so when I saw the album on my spotify app on my phone, I could not wait until we would arrive at the hotel and the beach so that I could dive in. I became a Kanye West fan at the start of 2020 and this is the first new album being released since I fell ... read more
Coming off of two great albums, Drake had to keep his hot run while also changing it up a bit. That he did very well. This 'mixtape' is less rnb focused like his previous albums and it's very refreshing to hear. However, songs like Jungle, Preach and Wednesday Night Interlude featuring PartyNextDoor remind the listener of his previous rnb songs. Sadly, this album marks the end of Drake's artistic prime that was beautiful while it lasted. Of course, Drake would release albums with good songs on ... read more
This seminal album in Drake's discography comes in the artistic prime of the Toronto artist, being released after Take Care and before If You're Reading This, It's too Late. This three album run is among the best of the 2010s decade, and of course Nothing Was the Same is a big part of this. The first two songs are among his best of his entire career and others have a sentimental value to me as I used to listen to them religiously around 2016. These are of course Started From the Bottom, Worst ... read more
Miles above anything anyone from One Direction has ever released. This is an unreachable watermark in Harry Styles' discography, but I'm glad there's at least one amazing song from one of my favorite musical acts of my childhood.
Unlike other tracks that I've given the score of 100, this isn't one of them given because of emotional potency the track brings. Purple Rain is just beautiful and outstanding musically. The vocals, the iconic guitar solo and the dark ending are what make this song one of the best of all time.
Let's say this is the original Rhubarb. Here's the review.
Emotionally powerful to the point that it's hard, but at the same time so easy to listen to this all the way through. This feels so nostalgic, even though I found this song a couple of days ago. It makes you reminisce on memories from the past. It's amazingly sad, that's why it has to get a rating like this one. It's so simple, but so complex at the same time. One can listen to this so many times and feel something different each time. ... read more
The attitude Freddie brings is enticing. Madlib shows he's still got it after 10 years of Madvillainy's release.
