I swear I do not remember this project being this good as a kid.
What is ultimately a good collection of radio singles and covers separated by cinematic transition of tapes switching on a deck somehow manages to pack a heavy punch years later. Songs for Women may be one of my favorites here outside of the big boys with it having such a down to earth feel in the delivery and a sleek instrumental, but also a lot of fun context to play with given what Frank has revealed over the years. Imagine ... read more
Yeah this thing is kind of mid. Worst crime is just being boring. Not going to do individual track ratings because everything is sitting about the same here for me except for Believe It which shines a bit brighter than the other tracks.
Yeah I'm not seeing it. How is this artist so "popular?"
This is my first experience with girlinred's music and I wish it could have been on a better foot because this album reeks of imitation. I would be able to look past that if there was something compelling here like exceptional vocals or production but I don't find that to be the case. There are a handful of high points on the record like the singing on Too Much, the ending of Phantom Pain, or the song You Need Me Now? However, ... read more
Edit 12/27/24 79 -> 81: The girlfriend would likely appreciate the score bump. Although she would prolly wish to see it bumped higher....
The girlfriend would certainly appreciate me listening to this project and I suppose I should get studying if I am going to be seeing Nia live.
Overall this project is a very upbeat, energetic, and groovy experience that has its moments of being heavier but without getting too in your face. Almost some lo-fi/bedroom pop elements in here as well on ... read more
This thing is pretty damn heavy. Like to the point where the room may spin and you may feel a bit nauseous. At least I did. Still enjoyable though, just have to turn my volume down a bit.

As far as electronic influenced dance pop goes I found this pretty middle of the road with some high points up until take my soul which just kind of threw me off my vibe.

Not much to say about this one other than it took a bit to warm up on me but come the second half I was much more enjoying my stay. Getting to Paracosm through All Over Now is well worth the wait.
This project is likely one of my first introductions to deathcore in general but feels like a bit of a easy introduction given the progressive nature of this project. I found myself more calm than ever when listening to this which is a weird feeling to associate with deathcore. This album has quite the scary runtime that may scare many away but it plays faster than it looks if that makes sense. I really didn't find myself at any point wondering when this would be over. Okay... maybe except for ... read more
Seinabo Sey delivers a primarily R&B/Soul inspired project with little flavorings of dance pop sprinkled throughout.
I originally found this artist through the song Yes paired with the other artist Namasenda and it sadly gave me the wrong impression that I was going to be getting a lot more of the dance pop and PC Music camp sounds I was hoping for. Do not be like me, do not do this. This project is not quirky bubblegum bass it is R&B.
With that out of the way, there is still plenty ... read more
Very light take on rock from an Eastern artist. Honestly a bit surprised with the lack of sight on this artist from other audiences given they have over 1 million monthly listeners on spotify but consider their praise local I guess. I was pretty happy with what I was hearing here just generally being easy music to kick back to but everything did feel a bit uniform leading to a sense of blurring between a few of the tracks.

I'm having a bit of a mixed reaction all across this whole thing but honestly that may be due to lack of sleep and I should probably revisit this on a fresh brain. Still very happy with certain songs here like Steel, Snow, and No Regrets.

Lauren has a very pretty voice but it is delivered alongside some of the safest music I have ever heard. Ocean is the biggest step outside of comfort on this project having a decent amount of progression but everything else feels a bit one note even in the higher points.

I had to listen to it to test it and yeah @sailek said it best. Outside of Never Fallin' there isn't much to keep my attention here. I originally said anything of substance but that is just untrue.
You aren't convincing me otherwise that The Beatles and The Red Hot Chili Peppers aren't basically the same band.
Okay, maybe they aren't the same band. They do however both have lyrics that sometimes make less sense the more you think about them. So don't. Just vibe. I will not pretend that The Beatles or this album are my absolute favorite thing in the world but the quality here in the sound is pretty hard to not immediately attach to. I'll sing about silver hammers, octopus's gardens, and ... read more

Colon Cancer just has more guts than all of us and releases these gems to the world :D
The more I listen to Colon Cancer I appreciate the consistency more and more. I'm not gonna pretend 14 year old me could do better tbh. Better days might be the calm before Robot Sex. The panning in Moonlight though.
