Welp, that's the end of Brockhampton I guess.
I certainly avoided this and The Family for a reason; and while I wasn't really blown away by this project is does feel like an on the nose conclusion to the groups work. Let's not fool ourselves. Post Saturation was an absolute mess. They may have been able to continue putting our great music for a while, but it was always apparent the seems were starting to come loose for the group. Without this record, Roadrunner would have been our last entry ... read more
Yeah I suppose Rock Opera would be this, Pop Punk though.... no. No it isn't..... Still a capstone record for rock music in general.
This record is dark while simultaneously being celebratory and bold. Now onto cancer....
Cancer is a nasty disease. I can only comment from position of an observer. Slowly watching a loved one ease deeper into their illness not only losing their ability to be themselves, but their will to. Tasks once easy and menial becoming more challenging to the point of ... read more
Damn you pop-punk you got me with this one. Shoutout to my buddies for helping with the video! Go watch it!
At the sake of all my credibility, if I have any, I will defend this....
I really enjoyed a lot of what was on the first two tracks especially production wise, but god damn these lyrics.... They are so damn pretentious. Then, for the song Complex all that interested production is just.... Gone. The interesting production does return on the two remaining tracks thankfully, especially the closer People Are the Enemy. Half of me wants to check the EP these remixes are based off and the other ... read more
Bless up Discover Weekly!
When I listen to this song I secretly sing, "sticking out your gyatt for the rizzler" and it works. Try it, just trust me.
Shoutout to Sickbeet, as soon as they suggested I give this a chance and said they worked with Charli I knew I was missing out. Even though I did guess the song she was featured on wrong.....
Bubblegum space bass is what comes to mind after my listen of this LP. Utilizing a lot of the tools in hyper-pop production to make some more dance focused music is a nice reinvigoration of life into the subgenre. To anyone saying hyper-pop is dead, no it isn't. It is just living in different forms to ... read more
This project feels like a movie, in the way that it is so cinematic and each character displays such a high degree of personality through their delivery.
I have listened to Wu-Tang before, but never took the time to sit for a full listen. So please consider this a long time coming. This project has quite the lengthy runtime, going just short of 1 hour. However, it doesn't feel like an hour has went by while listening. Everything flows so effortlessly especially aided by the essentially double ... read more
Well well well....
In comparison to my previously listening to Sickbeet's work, Soundtracks seems like a more focused and directional approach to a very similar set of sounds. One example I can think to point to in comparing the track Imaginary Wedding Scene from this project to Forest from Adventure Songs. For me, these songs have a very similar sound but I find the sound to be more compelling when used to illustrate a dreamlike wedding scene. This is especially aided by the pump faking of ... read more
Suffering from a handful of word horniness and edginess this EP is a bit of a mixed bag featuring very over the top horrorcore songs alongside more personable tracks. Consider this a giant not for me, however I can understand how people could gravitate to something like this. The main thing that detracts from my enjoyment is that on songs like Is Happiness Just A Word? Vinnie delivers some very gut-wrenching content in the verses but it is placed right next to a super commercial and honestly ... read more
Overall, not a bad listen and there are a nice handful of good lines on the EP. However, with a lack of switching things up it does get a bit dry. Also, the closer is solely instrumental which I don't feel aids in making this listen compelling.

I forgot this album exists and therefore forgot Polkarama! and Trapped in the Drive-Thru exists. Shame on me.
This was actually my first full listen of this project since falling out of love with the band's music and damn I was missing out...
I think the features may have scared me away from this album with there being so many of them but they don't over spend their welcome and do add quite a bit to their respective tracks especially Danny Brown and the A$APs. This album serves as a commercial high in their careers right before the wheels would come to fall off the wagon.
A simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming listen!
The waterworks were in full effect with this one; right out the gate with the first track Real House. Real House is so empty and full of room for Adrianne's piercing vocal performance to cut right through. This is then followed up with, what is in comparison a very grand track, Sadness As a Gift which has these strings in the midsection that absolutely tickle my spine.
I am glad that the heartbreak was thoughtfully balanced out with ... read more
Some more than decent hardcore pop-punk with a very made at home feel to it!
Instrumentally, this thing kicks absolute ass. Lyrically and vocally this thing can be a bit not for me at times but that is the territory with this music for me. Always great to feel a bit blown out of the water and enjoy something in this style for a change. If you generally enjoy pop-punk/mid-west punk this will likely be right up your alley. It even comes with the traditional story length song title!
I do get a ... read more
This album feels like a rejection of.... well everything to be honest. And the quirk is turned up to 100 for this one.
Sometimes the right field nature of this project works on me like on the beginning of This is the intro or Pay the Piper, but each song finds a special way of just cracking me at my core. This is especially the case on a song like This Song is About You which I was initially having fun with but by the end I was terminally annoyed. I might have actually shit my own pants while ... read more
A mature departure from the more experimental sound delivered on Iridescence.
This album truly feels like a return to form for the group with the album starting with two straight to radio pop songs and later intermixed with the usual pop-rap style the group is known for. The main separating factor with this record is that post removal of group member, Ameer Vann, this record directly addresses the feelings surrounding that separation. Don't get me wrong, the lack of his presence was certainly ... read more
The serious project we have all been waiting for from Colon Cancer!
While this project is certainly very rough there are elements here that I am glad to finally be hearing on a Colon Cancer project. Don't get me wrong I love the memes too, but I like to get a glimpse into the real person making the memes from time to time as well and this project provided me that. With the subject matter being a bit heavier here, I am going to leave that note at that. My main takeaway from this project is that ... read more
