Yeah I think Wonky will work for a genre. Maybe even penis music perhaps?

underscores & Knapsack - SPIT

I swear I could smell that sample anywhere, was vibing for the first half but come the skit in the middle of the track I was lost.

It's always fun going back to older music from artist you discover later into their career. If you had told me this was the same underscores who put out fishmonger and wallsocket I would simultaneously believe and not believe you. This song feels rather incomplete and more like an idea but if they decided to revisit this sound in the future I won't be complaining.

underscores & Just Another Crew - twisted lines

I like all the things this song is doing in a singular vacuum but I'm not quite sold on them all together.

Wii Shopping channel music in a different dimension. I really enjoy the little glass bottle clanking in the midsection and the little tweetering sound effect right before it at 1:40. Cool beat.

MGMT - Loss of Life

Edit 12/26/2024 89 -> 88: Almost inconsequential, but very minor score tweak.

MGMT? Man I feel old. I swear the last time I heard anything from this group was Time to Pretend back in high school. Revisiting this group with their most recent release is definitely a breathe of fresh air and a very enjoyable listen. Psych-pop through and through. While this album does bounce around a lot with it's ideas it didn't detract from my listening as I feel that is the nature of psych music ... read more

Holding a near perfect balance of minimal and grand production this project delivers Broadway sound quality with a distinct feel of the old country.

Full of charisma! Dirty, hype, and a total bop!

PVRIS - BURN THE WITCH

Not women being expressive in my little Salem town!

This song has so much good going for it, the mix is super loud and in your face giving the song a bit of a cinematic feel to it. Hell the chorus sounds like being chased through the woods. Then you get Tommy Genesis delivering a sleek yet sensual verse and while I normally would find Tommy a bit over the top they really pulled through to understand the assignment. Alice is an artist I am new to with this song and may have my favorite ... read more

I didn't want to jump the gun with the first two but yeah this might just be aoty.... Schoolboy Q really do be golfing too. Whoever put me on to Habits & Contradictions in high school thank you.

This album feels like a reward for any % speed running fishmonger glitch-less.

I love all the extra flair on each of the songs and just the general feeling that each song is barely intact. Loansharks is the for sure stand out with it's mathy guitar and catchy chorus but there are certainly more high points to commend. For me, I really loved the underwater feeling to a lot of Girls and boys and I love how Gunk ends by just bonking you on the head.

No real negatives to go on about here, go ... read more

Solid listen through and through. Metalcore and breakcore don't sound like they belong together but they are pulled off very well.

"100% agree that this album needs its time to really grow on you! I actually enjoy Dryland and The Fish Song quite a bit, but can certainly understand some of the apprehension to fully getting lost within those tracks. I think I may need to spin back on the album yet again and re-evaluate my scores since I didn't give Where Did You Go a 100 and it is one of the most memorable tracks off the album for me. Great review!"

"What a nice milestone to hit, and a perfect album to revisit for the big 1000! I am definitely super happy to have come across your profile while spending my time on this website and watching your taste reveal itself has really been a fun experience.
