Ariana Grande - yes, and?
55

I like Ariana going for a new sound here in the dance pop style but vocally i'm just kind of bored.

Edit 01/13/2024: 60 -> 55 I'm not vocally bored, I am lyrically bored.

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
78

Okay, nostalgia goggles off for this one....

I honestly could not remember how poopy and stinky this record is at times. Sure there are handfuls of highlights like through the late night, Goosebumps, and pick up the phone. Then on the other hand you have beibs in the trap and sdp interlude.... Like I said poopy and stinky.

Bladee - The Fool
60

One step closer to draining my life....

Gonna be honest I still haven't clicked with Bladee yet but this album is a step in the right direction. At the very worst I just find myself indifferent on some of the sounds here with the production feeling much tighter than earlier works and vocals coming through more distinguishable. Hotel Breakfast was certainly the standout song for me. I will keep up with my journey into Bladee's work and hopefully revisit this at a later point with a deeper ... read more

Sleeping with Sirens - With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear
42

The magic with this one wears off quickly... I can't believe this used to be my jam is highschool.

The Mad Caddies - Keep It Going
71

A very above average ska-punk record that I would listen front to back all over again just to hear Riding for a Fall again.

doefriends - I WANT TO LOVE AGAIN
41

Yeah this one wasn't doing any magic for me either...

rubyred - business casual
33

Sorry guys I didn't like it.

I certainly didn't hate what I was listening to it just didn't really click with me. I liked some of the cloudy production highlighted on tracks like claptrap and space heater 2 as well as some of the rage elements in hibernate. Y'know the rest though, just felt headache inducing.

Chairlift - Something
81

I like my Caroline with a splash of Art Pop, but Indie Pop is great as well!

I wish I could have been early to the part here but late per usual. Caroline's vocals are great as always but some of the more experimental and almost jazzy production choices on this project are amazing. Then there is of course Amanaemonesia which rather than sounding like it is trying to replicate vintage synthpop sounds like it IS vintage synthpop. This is something I wish I could go back in time and show to my ... read more

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
73

This thing is long. Way longer than it needs to be.

The first half of this project "Jupiter" is more upbeat and high energy whereas "Mars" is more dark and laid back. This one is going to be a big preference project and no shame for the length scaring you away. I find the highlights like Snow, Strip My Mind, Tell Me Baby, Hard to Concentrate to be worth coming back to with a majority of the remainder just being middle of the road.

Oh, also Jupiter>Mars.

DJ BOOKER & NLE Choppa - The Chosen Ones
18

I was fartin while listening to this project. NLE Choppa would be proud.

Really though, NLE is going the Dababy route of making some of the most unimpressive boring rap music of the year. This is certainly not how you should want to start 2024 off. Wonder who will win the fight Bluface or NLE?

Jim Croce - You Don't Mess Around with Jim
80

Very charming folky songs from a down south bumpkin. I love it, Jim's voice is also very soothing.

18 DAYS - Sleep Feeling
34

*pokes with a stick*

C'mon... Do something!

Caroline Polachek - Pang
100

This thing is impeccable and I love it. It was my first introduction to Caroline Polachek and after many many revisits I am sold on calling this thing perfect. I have sat and just enjoyed it as well as fallen asleep to it many times and it does a great job in both settings. The worldbuilding on this project is on point even getting very dark on the track Insomnia but by the end it is a full on party rewarding you with the track So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings. This album should have served as ... read more

Joeyy - Just Tired 2
48

He died for our sins, took the 30 mg body of Christ, all while fighting the nod. Joeyy is the hero we never knew we needed.

FELIVAND - Waitin' for You

"100% agree that this album needs its time to really grow on you! I actually enjoy Dryland and The Fish Song quite a bit, but can certainly understand some of the apprehension to fully getting lost within those tracks. I think I may need to spin back on the album yet again and re-evaluate my scores since I didn't give Where Did You Go a 100 and it is one of the most memorable tracks off the album for me. Great review!"

"Not at all! I am looking forward to it as well whether it is good or not. I just am happy to see some variation on Camila's end. The only thing that does leave me desiring more is that given the territory she is taking her sound, I would like to see more collaboration or appreciation for the curators of that sound."
