This mf sucks
Best Tracks?: Tommy, LAUGHIN
Worst Track: Skipping Class
I’m disappointed in you RiTchie. That’s all I want to say here.
Best Track: All-Terrain
Worst Track: Broke the Mold
This is definitely Don Toliver’s most exciting album to date. I did not think the album was gonna be this amazing but it was.
Top 3 Tracks: INSIDE, BANDIT, HARDSTONE NATIONAL ANTHEM
Worst Track: ATTITUDE
I think Conway is trying to get out of his comfort zone with this album. I wouldn’t say he’s experimenting though, because the music itself isn’t really experimental. It seems like Conway tried to make more than just a boom bap album with this one and I don’t think he did a bad job.
Top 3 Tracks: The Chosen, Quarters, Stab Out
Worst Track: WON'T HE DO IT
BROCKHAMPTON continues the fun on the second installment of Saturation. A bit more rapping on this album than the first one, as there are many amazing rapping performances on here.
Top 3 Tracks: SUMMER, SUNNY, JUNKY
Worst Track: TOKYO
RiTchie’s debut studio album is pretty impressive and it’s nice to see that he’s performing well as a solo artist. It may have not reached “Album of the Year” level, and the singles made it seem like it would reach that level. But this album is still very great and enjoyable.
Top 3 Tracks: Dizzy, WYTD?!?!, RiTchie Valens
Worst Track: The Keepers
JID’s debut studio album has plenty of lyrical substance and clever flows within it. But I also think the production is great too. I think every part of this album has a bit of versatility to it.
Best Tracks: General, NEVER, EdEddnEddy, Hereditary, All Bad, Somebody, LAUDER
Worst Track: Underwear
This tape is absolutely carried by vibes. Without it, the problems this record has would catch up to it. These problems are the god-awful mixing and the tone-deaf singing from Peggy or “Devon.” But again, because of how vibey it is, it prevents this project from being bad. Without those vibes, the rating would definitely be lower.
Best Tracks: Ballad of a Poor Man, Behold! A Pale Horse, M.U.G.E.N., Porn for Percussion, God Bless My Homegirls, Call Me Maybe, Liara, Pizzicato Five ... read more
Compared to previous projects, ZUU is a bit inconsistent. There are some songs that are either repetitive or are just kind of annoying. But this album definitely has quality to it with its more aggressive approach.
Best Tracks: ZUU, RICKY, BIRDZ, AUTOMATIC, P.A.T.
Worst Track: SHAKE 88
This album just feels special to me when I listen to it. I’m not sure how to explain it, but I think it has something to do with how it gets from the beginning to the end. You have a simple beginning and a simple ending with a very long and complex middle, with the only difference between the beginning and the end being the lyrics, showing growth and compassion. That’s what I received from this album. I might be missing something, but whatever.
These deluxe tracks are an improvement to the original album. There are actually some interesting moments when listening to these songs, mostly because of the production. It still could be better though.
(The rating is only based off the deluxe tracks)
Best Tracks: Fashion Habits, Shoot
Worst Track: Lookbook
An excellent collaboration between these three artists. I think the contrast between Freddie Gibbs and Curren$y’s rapping style gives off a really cool effect. The Alchemist, as usual, has some amazing production on this album.
Best Tracks: Location Remote, Saturday Night Special, Now & Later Gators, No Window Tints, Willie Lloyd, Tapatio
Worst Track: New Thangs
A pretty great and consistent album from Vince Staples here. It’s mostly trap with production from Kenny Beats, which Vince seems to work well with on here. Very cool.
Top 3 Tracks: ARE YOU WITH THAT?, MHM, TAKING TRIPS
Worst Track: THE SHINING
Slightly better than the first EP. Production has definitely improved. But Joeyy’s performances are still ass. For Christ’s sake, the voice tags were more enthusiastic than him!
Best Tracks: Sfogliatelle, On
Worst Track: Hair
This collaboration between Future and Metro Boomin is very consistent with almost everything being a trap banger. These two artists just have that chemistry where it works almost every time. Some pretty great shit.
Best Tracks: We Don’t Trust You, Young Metro, Type Shit, Like That, Slimed In, Cinderella, Runnin Outta Time, Fried (She a Vibe), Ain’t No Love, Everyday Hustle, Where My Twin @ (Bonus)
Worst Track: Seen It All
Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World is one of the more important releases in the SoundCloud era, but still feels a little boring to me. I need some more energy and excitement, which Uzi does bring to a few tracks on this mixtape.
Best Tracks: Money Longer, Baby Are You Home, P’s & Q’s, Scott and Ramona
Worst Track: Grab the Wheel
This is BROCKHAMPTON’s most accessible but also their most emotional album to date. The songs feel somewhat delicate in a way. It gives off a pretty feeling that can either flatter you, or hit you right on your heart.
Top 3 Tracks: DEARLY DEPARTED, SUGAR, BOY BYE
Worst Track: I BEEN BORN AGAIN
What a terrific album from Gorillaz. The production is rhythmic and smooth, you could even say it’s satisfying. It kind of feels like each song is its own complete puzzle.
Best Tracks: Last Living Souls, Dirty Harry, Feel Good Inc., Every Planet We Reach Is Dead, November Has Come, White Light, Dare, Fire Coming Out of the Monkey’s Head
Worst Track: Don’t Get Lost In Heaven
