Even thought the songs can tend to drag here and there, this is still an amazing album. This is all the best parts of the 80s distilled into a timeless record.
I mean it's good. The first track is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard. I just don't feel that much for the other tracks on the album.
I absolutely love the atmosphere on this album. I always thought Swans pre-2010s would be very experimental and inaccessible. But this really surprised me. Jarboe and Michael Gira's vocals works so well with this gothic-folk rock sound they were going for here. It still has that certain elements of noise which I love, but it's pleasant seeing and hearing a different side of Swans this time around
Only Ween can have Shitposting, Spaghetti western epic tale with cinematic backdrop and more shitposting back to back. The songs here are so varied and engaging. However we do have to acknowledge there are some SHIT songs on here, they got off lightly cuz they are in the same album as: Take me away, Freedom of 76, Can't put my finger on it, Roses are free and many more.
This is more subdued and less explosive than Are you Experienced. Other than a few parts where it's really good (little wing), the rest are not as memorable.
It's alright, but I think it was overhyped for me. Nothing much that stands out here
There is something timeless about this album. Don't let manic depression and red house fool you into thinkin that this is a normal blues album. This is the album where Jimi invented swag. Not only his guitar, his cool voice, the drums and bass. So much variation and it does not seem dated compared to other albums.
Charli XCX combines catchy melodies with extreme excess, perfectly describes a club (I've never clubbed before). It's great that she is bringing more experimental music into the mainstream and introducing hyperpop to a broader and global audience
The atmosphere and sounds made me feel things I've never felt before, my only complaint is the silence towards the end of providence.
The drumming puts this down a notch. But this is a very solid album to relax to. Her voice and the ambience is the best part, but the drums feel so in your face in some songs it sounds like 2010s pop drums instead of a relaxing listen. The album cover is beautiful tho.
The album cover is one of the most beautiful things I've ever laid my eyes upon. It really PMO cuz the music does not even a hold a candle to this masterpiece of a cover.
The first track is so so good, the rest are like a step down. But god damn the places this takes me to. It reminds me of outer wilds and RDR2. Other than the first song, the rest kind of drag. But overall a cool experience, americana just has that special vibe I can't explain.
Bensoon Boone does not have a song where he need to do all that shit on the album cover bruh
Last time i heard this album, i thought only 3 songs were good, the rest are dogshit la dee da folk. I was smoking something. This is one of the best albums I have listened to recently. Every song is a banger and some (almost half) are transcendent. The harmonies, the melodies, the simple yet clean production. Worst songs are loyd wright and bye bye love (more of a mixing issue than a song one, claps are too loud).
I do feel quite drained after listening to this album. But some songs on here are pretty great.
Post rock is always larger than life man. It's very impressive how they can turn 3 chords into humanity's best art.
It's 40 minutes of supreme musicianship. But it's up to personal taste, it's more of like a background/ study album for me.
standouts: Black cow, Peg and Josie
