POiSON GiRL FRiEND almost makes musical asmr. It's somewhat melancholic, but so incredibly calm and dreamy in almost every element
It's okay I didn't need to go the rest of my day without my ears ringing no thats fine
Its clear that focus is not the name of the game on "Burning Desire." MIKE'S goal was to explore and many sonic ideas as he could, and while many of them work REALLY really well, its hard to deny that a solid handful didnt do all that much different or memorable in the broader scheme of things.
MIKE is a skilled lyricist and rapper, but his flow was VERY reminiscent of Earl Sweatshirt to me, which is made more apparent when Earl features on one of the songs
Just about as emblematic as anything of what defines Sonic Youth. It's noisy and self-aware and full of energy. Probably not the BEST Sonic Youth album because Daydream Nation still exists, but Goo is super memorable regardless
Sounds nice; Sweet and endearing. I have unfortunately just heard a LOT of stuff that sounds just like this. One of the problems with a lot of Indie Pop/Shoegaze I've noticed
While not as amazing as some other of their albums, I still enjoyed quite significantly. It's still much more interesting than a lot of Indie Rock out there
The purpose of Silver Mt.Zion was to explore scoring, which this album accomplishes near perfectly in all its eeriness, mystery, and melancholy. I found the very few lyrical passages to be incredibly impactful and profound, which made me wish there were slightly more of them even if it wasnt the major focal point
Probably among the most laborious and draining feats I have undergone, but Meet Me Halfway remains a banger
I'm NEVER listening to this shit again. You cannot convince me to do it.... however... it wasn't entirely awful. Yeah his delivery is really just the WORST but also a couple beats are decent and I kind of occasionally get what he was going for. If literally ANYone else rapped on some of these beats, they'd be SOMETHING
Took me a while to listen to anything else by this group other than Loveless, and my one MAJOR complaint is that its much harder to properly listen and enjoy when the audio quality is so bad (provided this isnt just a problem with streaming)
Obviously not going to be as refined as later McKinley Dixon stuff, but stands pretty well as a Conscious Jazz Rap album
Geese does it again I'm so full of Geese I'm Geesing all over the place augh the Geese is everywhere
A raw, intimate Singer-Songwriter affair with some intricate guitar playing and deeply personal lyricism
