Pretty good metalcore album that doesn't do anything really new but still has solid instrumentation and is appropriately paced
Some of the riffs are good but the lyrics and rapping on here is so cringy and silly to me. Aaron should've sticked to post hardcore
Issues on this album fall into the trap of having different genres combined into one and it not leading to anything interesting or compelling with the genre mashups. A lot of songs on here sound very close to each other despite combining pop, jazz, and djent together. Every song on here has a similar song structure with the switch from clean pop chorus to harsh vocals on the second verse. The djent used on this album is really simple and it becomes tiring the more you listen to it. Even on the ... read more
You know when you listen to an artist or song and you don't think you should like it but you do? This is that song. The autotune on here is almost bad on purpose but it somehow doesn't mess with the garage rock/post punk instrumentals in the track that much, maybe even adding some punch to the track. For hearing this band for the first time, I thought it was a fun combination and different from any other band I've heard before.
Edit (79->59): After listening to the new album, ... read more
vein.fm's sophmore LP may be more daring than their first LP, but it is also not as consistent as their previous work. "Welcome Home," "The Killing Womb," "Hellnight," and "Orgy in the Morgue" are the more typical vein.fm tracks that go crazy. The track "Magazine Beach" is one of the better "experimental" tracks on this LP that is more melodic and isn't too long. Tracks like "Fear in Non Fiction" and "Wavery" use ... read more
I appreciate fit for a king not going the djent route when they said they were trying to not make their music less predictable. I still feel like this track is too simple and has clean vocals I don't really care for and find annoying.
I decided to listen to this cause of my curiosity of a song called "daddy" got the better of me, but damn this track slaps. Beat goes so hard, the artists don't take it so seriously, and Sexyy Red did a better Barbie bar than Nicki Minaj in 2023. Never thought I would love a track like this
Issues with their final song showcase why I never really cared for them with their badly copied Ariana Grande pop vocals, basic jazz elements, and other cheesy genre elements thrown together on this track. However, I can see their fans enjoying this
Great deathcore track that features solid drum work and infectious riffs
This is what something feels like when it's thrown down a flight of stairs. I've listened to this record a lot but I haven't been sure how to review it and offer a unique review. I think it is a great grindcore album that is a must listen as it is a dictionary definition of grindcore in album form. Songs go by fast and feature talented performances from each of the band members.

I'm so glad I decided to listen to this without headphones for the first time cause I definitely would've lost some of my hearing as this album uses a lot of noise. I will say I haven't heard anything like this album which is why I would recommend it if you hate silence, or want to hear something harmful to the ear drums. I admire the technically to play these tracks.

Ehhh, I kinda liked this one. It's not great considering how simple it is. Even though it's not super strong, I find the chorus on this track better than "Look Ma, No Brains."
This single almost sounds like a throwback to "Sempiternal." Even though I mostly enjoyed this single, I feel that it has some issues. Mainly that it is a very straightforward track that doesn't anything that unique for the band or even for other modern metalcore bands. Some of the lyrics are meh but it fits the theme of the other singles, plus I don't usually mind for lyrics like these unless they are really bad. You can also say the same for most of the background vocals ... read more
As a straight man, I approve this EP. But seriously, this EP is a unique listen that is enjoyable. I respect the boldness on this project with its title, the lyrics on the opening track, and statement of "You're listening to the future of music," on the track Believe The Hype. This project is definitely a melting pot of different genres of high energy genres like hyperpop, alternative metal, and industrial hip hop combined together. None of the parts of each genre sound generic like ... read more
The Dillinger Escape Plan are one of the most well known and respected mathcore bands for a reason. This album kicks ass and is really unique just like every other project I've heard by them. I love the jazz elements throughout this LP and they really mix well with the metal elements which often lead to unique riffs like on "Highway Robbery" or "Baby's First Coffin." I wasn't expecting the clean vocals on "Unretrofied," which I thought were done really ... read more
This was my first time listening to a Caroline Polachek album, and I gotta say this was super sweet. Her voice is majestic and is the best part about this album that is consistent. Tracks like "Bunny Is A Rider" and "Sunset" feature creative instrumentals that are very different from another despite them being right next to each other. In fact, all of the songs on this LP have different instrumentation styles that give each of the tracks different feelings
This EP wasn't bad but it didn't feature any interesting guitar, drum, or vocal parts that would keep me coming back to it. Honestly, starting off 2024 with a meh project is good so I can figure out what is good or bad by comparing other projects to this
