Really good metalcore album that features really good riffs, breakdowns, and vocals. My biggest complaint is that a couple of the songs are more interludes than actual songs, making it feel like this should've been an EP. However, I still recommend checking this one out if you missed it
I have never been the biggest Foo Fighters fan. I think it's cause I find their style of rock not really that special, especially when you bring up the fact that the front man Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana. However, I decided to check this album out since I heard of the passing of Dave Grohl's mother and well as the bands drummer, Taylor Hawkins. What I really like about this album is how Dave clearly uses the lyrics on this album to express his emotions over the tragic passings. That ... read more
This is the weakest Veil of Maya album that I've listened to. I feel like Veil have fallen into the "modern pop metal" trap where a lot of their songs sound the despite same due to the similar song structures and energy level changes by use of clean and unclean vocals. At least this albums features riffs and breakdowns that are more complex and creative than a lot albums from those type of bands
This track has got to have one of the worst interpolations ever in the history of music. Every time the vocals come in my brain dies
Not bad, but I kinda wanted more out of this track. The song definitely needed a switch up which I'm glad happened at the minute mark. I think this track would need to be longer in order for it to stand on its own two legs in my opinion. However, I am very interested to hear the mixtape that this is a part of and what it's going to sound like overall.
@GhostMinus wanted me to check out this track for them. Please check out their profile for reviews
I'm definitely someone who doesn't have the best taste in music on this site, and the main reason is because I need to expose myself to more projects and genres. I often struggle with long songs/albums and I heard that a lot of music nerds like this album so I decided to force myself to listen to this noisy experimental post-rock album. This album was my first experience with drone as well, and I didn't hate it.
I think the album does a lot with its 8 songs and 97 minute runtime, and features ... read more
My first experience with 100 gecs was when I was 17 and I heard their reimagined version of "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park. I thought it was one of the worst things I'd ever heard in my life and I steered clear from them. Fast forward to December 2023, and I had a couple people recommending me this album. Despite my bad experience, I caved and listened to this album. I'm glad I did cause this is one of my favorite albums of the year.
I think hyperpop works best when it's a little ... read more
This album is pretty simple and isn't doing anything different with hardcore punk genre. However, it has some good riffs that leave it being an enjoyable album listening experience
Uhh, what the hell was this track? I guess the last single was so safe that they decided to add so many different elements to this track that it can be called a mess. I enjoyed the jazz intro, I thought it could've lasted a little longer and featured a different transition that wasn't that deep voice rap section into the metal part of the song. Why are some many modern metal bands incorporating rap sections that sound bad and cheesy like CORPSE rapping? Can we please have more good rapping on a ... read more
Even though I prefer Paramore's earlier pop punk sound, they made a solid post punk revival album. I think the high points on this album are the first 3 tracks which I think feature the best instrumental and vocal use on the album, especially "Running Out Of Time." My biggest complaint with this album is that I feel like not every song was fleshed out enough in terms of choruses like on "C'est Comme Ça" or "Big Man, Little Dignity." Also wish they used more ... read more
Even though this track is better than the last track "Scapegoat," I still feel like Reflections are struggling to provide anything interesting from them that isn't a song that is just "loud as hell"
I like to watch Anthony Fantano's content specifically for new releases and music news. I don't agree with him all the time but I respect his opinions. I wanted to listen to this album since he disliked it a lot. He described the only way someone would find this album interesting was if "they liked triple A video game soundtracks, anime TV show intros, big budget movie trailers, or the most kitchy heavy metal record imaginable." I feel like most of those apply to me, and I ... read more
I wasn't super excited to check this album out due to me not really caring for the singles. I think I would like this album more if it wasn't for some of the clean vocals, specifically on "Thrash." I also think the jazz/math rock parts are too repetitive and leave it sounding not as unique or interesting the first time you hear it as compared to track 4 or 5.
I would like this song more if it weren't for the vocals most of the time. Instrumentally, this song is great
Even though I'm not a fan of a lot of soft music. I found some enjoyment in this one with its calming vocals and instrumentals. I will say my biggest criticism with the track is when it suddenly becomes louder at 3:25 and it kinda ruined the calming vibe the 3 minutes before set up
@Nonino told me to check this track out since his friend made it. His friend definitely has potential to create something great
This is my first time listening to an Olivia Rodrigo album, and I gotta say it's not bad. I was a little worried I wasn't gonna like this but most of the time Olivia creates interesting songs that sound different from a lot of other radio pop artists. I prefer when she is not trying to sound like the typical teenage girl singing a somber, sad piano breakup ballad like on vampire or logical
I'm sorry for the rating, but the clean vocals on this album were so annoying. The instrumentals weren't that interesting as well. Sounded like they wanted to be a safe pop metalcore band like bad omens
