A Door Left Open by Orthodox is a metalcore album with an abundant amount of hard hitting breakdowns on it. Unfortunately, they all seem to blend together through the full listens I’ve had with this album. I also didn’t care for the way the vocals are mixed in the album with how compressed they are, it loses a bit of rawness in their delivery for me. Not an album I would recommend people to listen to unless they’re really into metalcore.
Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut album is recognized to be the first metal album ever made and it set the bar for what a quality metal album should sound like extremely high for other metal bands to come. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward give incredibly tight performances throughout the whole album. The songwriting on the album has each track sounding different enough to where they all have their own identity and similar enough to where they all sound like they ... read more
This single sounds like a pop song made in the late 2000s but executed with the underscores style
156/Silence continue to infuse elements of alternative metal into their music that aren't up to quality standards on this single
“In the Earth Again” by Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo was a pairing I never would've expected to work together on an album. I was really looking forward to listening to this album to see how each party was going to mix together.
As it turns out, Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo sounds work really well combined together and neither party seem to hold back their highly contrasting styles on here. It isn't afraid to go in both a heavy direction or a soft direction, really letting ... read more
Damn… Jane really worked their ass off creating, performing, and producing this album.
“Revengeseekerz” is a massive step up from Jane Remover’s previous albums in basically every way. I mean, I enjoyed “Frailty” and some moments off of “Census Designated,” but Jane has seemed to find the sound that they excel at the most, that being digicore.
“Revengeseekerz” for me is one of the most fun to listen to albums of 2025. I think you ... read more
I’m surprised how on par this project is with Soul Glo’s sophomore album, "Diaspora Problems." The variety in the songwriting alone on “Songs to Yeet at the Sun” is impressive and it’s only an EP. Combined with the feral performances, clear production, and memorable lyrics make this one of the best hardcore punk EPs I’ve heard come out of the 2020s. Listen to it.
Even though “Random Access Memories” is not as amazing as their masterpiece “Discovery,” it still is a great electro-disco album with a tracklist full of stellar production, groovy and tight beats, and multi-phased song structures and progressions. Not to forget about its amazing features, including Todd Edwards, Paul Williams, Julian Casablancas, Nile Rodgers, Panda Bear, and Pharrell Williams that make this album have a lot of vocal and instrumental variety on it.
I've been familiar with Agriculture ever since they released their first album “Agriculture.” They’ve been developing their own black metal footprint since then and I thought their previous EP “Living Is Easy” was a strong showing of their developed sound to the point where it was one of my favorite metal releases of 2024. It got me really excited to potentially hear what an extension of their sound would be like.
However, by listening to the three separate ... read more
“Poetry From Pain” is a standard metalcore album from Gridiron that doesn’t really do enough to stand out and leave a lasting impression despite having some really good energy in its riffs and breakdowns. Bear in mind, it does have a nothing, nowhere. feature who still ruins every song he touches.
I’m tired of keeping it to myself that this song sucks.
I'll admit, there are songs that are way worse than this one and you can definitely do this type of song way worse than it is, but this song is just so boring. Tate on this song sounds like she wants to be the next Britney Spears but she doesn't have the fun instrumentation or playful vocal chops on here to pull it off.
The Caretaker’s “An empty bliss beyond this World” is an ambient album that follows the concept of an Alzheimer's patient struggling to remember their past life. It was inspired by a 2010 study on people with Alzheimer's disease “being able to remember music they listened to when they were younger, as well as where they were and how they felt listening to it.”
This album uses a lot of samples from ballroom records included with vinyl scratches which ... read more
It's hard to find a split EP where both bands are absolutely kicking this much ass. SPY and Maniac managing to accomplish this much with only 7 minutes of runtime is nothing short of impressive.
"Days Before Dreamboy" is unfortunately a mostly middle of the road project from Lil Nas X even though it has a couple decent tracks on it as well
Hi guys EEF here, this new Memphis May Fire album is…
unbad.
Yes that’s right :D UNBAD!
Memphis May Fire are a band that have been a punching bag for even individuals who only listen to generic radio rock music. However with this album, it is unbad. You might be thinking “Why EEF? What made you discover the absolute geniusness of this album?” Well let’s get to it.
Something really awesome about this album is that you don’t really need to overthink when ... read more
While Black Country, New Road on here don't quite hit the consistent heights of quality they reached on their previous album "Ants From Up There," "Forever Howlong" is still a soothing album full of songs with fun story telling accompanied by playful, dynamic instrumentation and vocals
