Despite there being some pretty decent and enjoyable instrumentation on here, the mostly boilerplate alternative metal vocal performances and especially the mixing on "2000: In Search of the Endless Sky" bring its quality down a ton.
Why are the female vocals SO LOUD compared to everything else?
Even though I think the second half of this album isn't as strong as its first half, "I Love My Computer" by Ninajirachi is one of the best electronic albums to come out in 2025. The electronic drops on this album are very satisfying and are unique from each other. The track transitions on here are incredibly smooth (especially in the first half) and really make the album feel like a ball rolling down a steep hill picking up speed. Overall, it's a very fun album that hints ... read more
Converge still continue to carry the genre of metalcore on their backs with this single
This album by The Devil Wears Prada… is NOT GOOD.
The Devil Wears Prada are a band I’m pretty familiar with. I’ve listened to their whole discography, and while I wouldn't say that I love any of their albums, their early material I at least have a fond enjoyment of just by how wacky it is. I believe that is how they managed to stand out in a sea of garbage myspace metalcore bands.
The band’s early work stands out even more when compared to their recent album ... read more
Coup de Grâce is a pretty messy album from SeeYouSpaceCowboy.
A lot of moments from this album sound like they're being lifted straight from a lot of over the top, dramatic, theater-coded bands from the 2000s. Take the track "Sister With A Gun" which straight up sounds like a Panic! At The Disco track off of "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out." I don't think they're mixed in with the heavier elements of the album in an effective or coherent way.

The best bad song of all time, 10/10, would recommend anyone to listen to it
It may not be reinventing the wheel for the genre, but Scalp's Not Worthy of Human Compassion is one of the hardest grindcore albums I've heard in a while. Hardly any punches are being held back on here.
While REST IN BASS could've been a bit less repetitive with more variety, it does go pretty hard with its beats, song transitions, and extremely lively energy from Che reminiscent of something like “Die Lit” era Playboi Carti make it one of the more memorable rage projects I've heard this year
Just like with their previous albums, the strongest part of Dayseeker has to be their vocalist, Rory Rodriguez. He has an impressive singing range and he can put a lot of energy behind his voice that leave a couple moments on this album at least slightly memorable.
However, impressive vocals can only go so far when they are being paired with bland rock songs that sound the same due to them sharing near identical song progressions, structures, and vocal melodies. Not to mention the ... read more
This single from Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo has a decent atmosphere and sounds intriguing but I wish it had more going on with it as it sounds like a transition piece between two tracks with more substance
Just listen to early Linkin Park if you want to hear this but with better production and songwriting. I don’t understand how anyone can be satisfied with the lyrics on this one.
One of (if not) the best melodic death metal albums of all time
Even compared to black midi's previous works, "Hellfire" is an extremely wild and out-there rock album with a very fitting album cover and title.
The instrumental work is as tight and catchy as they have ever been on black midi album. The lyrical themes across the album are fantastic in storytelling, all dealing with individuals who are doomed to go to hell through their actions. Like with "Dangerous Liaisons" being about a farmhand who gets tricked by Satan to kill ... read more

Two really lovely Magdalena Bay singles with incredible production
Danny Brown working with electronic artists always lead to entertaining results
It's hard to make a song in this melancholic, 'tuned down' style from a genre like metalcore work, but I think Greyhaven do a good job instrumentally, vocally, and lyrically on here without going over the top with it
Maruja, with no surprise from me, deliver one of the most dynamic, lyrically provoking, intense, and stunning rock albums of the 2020s. I personally think they can top themselves with an even better album and not everyone will love how massive in scope this album is. But I think "Pain to Power" is worth listening to even for someone who might be intimidated by how much this album juggles its music styles and ideas.
