Wormrot on their sophomore LP Dirge return with an even shorter, tighter, and quicker grindcore album compared their debut, Abuse. What I think has changed the most from their previous album is the addition of these high pitched scream vocals mixed in with the low guttural vocals that not only makes the album a more hellish undergoing, but adds more vocal variety across the album.
The Never Story is a decent hip hop album that hints at J.I.D's potential to be a great hip hop artist. I unfortunately felt this album needed more for me to keep coming back to it, like having the hooks on the album be much stronger. With that being said, even the tracks of the album that I found to be weaker than the rest featured very precise flows from J.I.D that were enthralling to listen along with.
My Teenage Dream Ended by Farrah Abraham is an unorthodox album that is definitely not for everyone. However, I found it to be fascinating with it’s autotune vocals, raw delivery, nontypical song progressions/lengths, and pretty diverse beats that come across as both a product of the early 2010s and the music of the future.
It's extraordinary rare for a song to have one of the best samples of all time and be one of the hardest album openers of all time
Is it the most unique punk album ever?
No.
Are the songs fun and performed with a lot a heart?
Yes.
Poison the Well's first single for their Peace In Place album is a great track where every component of it works together and is well made. Its ending also teases more to come.
Sounds as amazing as their Audiotree performance of the song. The instrumentals give off a strong, addictive drive despite not being close in speed to their faster songs.
EsDeeKid brings some aggressive energy and groovy rap flows on his debut mixtape Rebel that are entertaining to listen to (not to forget about the features Rico Ace, fakemink, and Fimiguerrero are good on the mixtape as well). However, I think the lack of variety in the tracklist ends up holding the mixtape back as some of its instrumentals and flows on each track seem to blend a bit together through being pretty similar.
SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER by PSYCHO-FRAME is one of the better deathcore albums I’ve heard recently. Unfortunately, I feel that the way the album is produced leaves a lot of the instrumentals on the album sounding a little too robotic instead of sounding like it was made through natural human input. It’s also not the most eccentric metal album and is more concerned with sounding about as ruthless and relentless as possible with little variation. Which might ... read more
SZA on Ctrl delivers a great alternative R&B album with a tracklist of constantly talented vocal performances, captivating vocal melodies, and the use of clever figurative language in the lyrics. Those components result in Ctrl standing out from other R&B albums despite not being super unique or messing with the R&B genre formula.
Camgirl is a better attempt at a gothic rock album from Crippling Alcoholism even though it still has a lot of issues. The band still struggles lyrically across the album, the choruses on here are basically copied and pasted from each other, and a good amount of songs could've been cut to improve the pacing of the album.
... curiosity got the better of me ... I feel like I just got violated listening to this disgustingly unlistenable song
While I don't think this album is amazing considering I found that some songs needed a little more care to them in the songwriting department, Ghostholding is a much stronger attempt at a singer-songwriter album from Jane Remover, under the alias of venturing. I really do think this album is better than Census Designated as its tracklist overall is of higher quality. A decent amount of great tracks can be found on here.
It's a meh djenty alternative metal single from Poppy. Even though I like this single more than some songs off of her last album Negative Spaces, I know she can write a better song with more interesting instrumentals and vocals.
