Some of the best riffs and guitar work I’ve ever heard on a thrash album, but I just can’t get over how grating and annoying the vocals are to me.
Even with me not liking the vocals and it making walk away from this probably never revisiting it (other than the title track, I’ve loved that song my whole life), it’s still a 7 for me. This album is a lot of fun in a genre that is usually devoid of it. I’ll probably check out rust in peace next.
It’s like experimental shoegaze for country fans. I really enjoyed the vibe on here and his voice is amazing
The songs kind of start to sound similar towards the end, but queen of the rodeo, dead of night, hope to die and roses are falling have been on repeat for me since finding this album. It’s the perfect album for road-trips in the south.
Some cool songs, some catchy passages, some really nice and interesting beats but this was a serious slog for me to get through. Probably has to do with a lot of factors: I’ve never really loved r&b future for an entire album length, this thing is wayyyy too long and bloated, these songs are long and the beats don’t really change too much for a lot of the songs, future isn’t really saying anything all that interesting for me.
I didn’t get too much enjoyment from ... read more
Very soft, pretty and weird.
Kind of boring at parts but the highs on this album are equal parts eerie and beautiful.
I see why this record is so divisive, but I personally really enjoy it. It doesn’t have much replay value and I prefer Kid A for the electronic stuff and I prefer moon shaped pool for the comforting stuff… but this is a very unique experiment in their discography.
This is truly amazing. I had a smile on my face and deep feelings of childhood nostalgia during this entire EP. I will be playing it over and over and over and over …. Will update this review with more thoughts.
It reminded me of Zelda and kingdom hearts in the best way. Made me think about waking up early when I was 8 to play ps2 before school. The album cover fits this beautiful little project so well:
Peak songwriting. My favorite album I’ve heard from Dylan so far. I particular enjoyed the social commentary songs, I have nothing negative to say about this album. All of my issues I’ve had with other Dylan albums are gone here.
This is about as great as folk music gets. The only reason it’s not a 10 for me is just personal enjoyability/replayability.
2026 edit:
Why did he release this ? Lol
Very bland and boring. Every song here is painfully uninteresting. It’s like compiling all of the worst qualities abut coke and centering it around a half assed Kendrick diss.
This album has already aged so poorly
This was everything I had spent the last five years hoping for and so much more. These songs are dense, emotionally vulnerable, multi-structured, and technically complex in every sense of the word. These songs are all over the place in the best way, the instrumental palate found on this album is truly impressive. Even with all of these elements, these songs never lose their quality, their catchiness, or their power and it never feels instrumentally full/complex just for the sake of it. Each ... read more
He’s so talented, but his output since BH has been so uninteresting to me. I felt bored on every song and these beats were just so … meh. Not into his rippity rappity flows at all and his voice changes come across as corny to me. Most of these songs feel dated, like a shitty version of 2012 OF. A lot of this project actually really reminds me of Domo genesis, just nowhere near the quality.
The lyrics are great, but the lyrics aren’t enough to make a good song. The more BH ... read more
The most beautifully written album since her last solo release. These lyrics are pure poetry and really stir something deep in me; all e-bike sound sonically beautiful through its acoustic simplicity.
Best pop album of last year made even better. Obsessed goes so hard. I love her sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much
