I wish I loved this as much as everyone else does. I never thought there could be a thing as too much distortion, but there was here. Not to mention the song structure just feels like it's all over the place. I'm still EXTREMELY excited for this new album, but Gifted Every Strength was so much better than this single.
METAL MARCH MADNESS 2/31 - DRONE METAL
My first expose to drone metal was a few years ago with Sun 0))) or (however the fuck you spell it) and my feelings to them - then and now - was polite applause. I understood the concept of drone metal and respect it, but it didn't grab me in the way other subgenres of metal do. THIS album however, fucking slaps. It genuinely didn't occur to me that drone metal can exist in mediums beyond just strumming the same 3 strings for 10 minutes at a ... read more

METAL MARCH MADNESS 1/31 - METALCORE
If there was ever an album that deserved all of the glaze it gets online from the metal community, let alone music nerd community as a whole, it's this one. This really does feel like the epitome of the subgenre as a whole, and it perfectly scratches every single itch I've been missing in a metalcore album. The production is fucking fantastic and works perfectly well with the variety of mathcore and sludgey elements across the ... read more
This has absolutely no right going as hard as it does but I'm so here for it. I have been waiting and begging for Curry to embrace a metal side in music ever since his cover of Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls on Parade" and what a fucking combo to be doing it with prime Knocked Loose. The very small trap elements do NOT hinder the metalcore sound at all and are well placed, and Curry's flow/performance on the instrumentals goes hard. This is both a dream collab and a ... read more

Before I get into the actual review itself, I wanna make a small announcement to those that follow: starting March 1st I'll be doing a Metal March Madness challenge where I listen to an album from a different subgenre that I never really listened to or explored. I'm going to start with Converge's "Jane Doe" because it's the one I'm the most excited for, then the album choices after will be randomized on a wheel spin. Tune in.

I love how unapologetic dogshit Instagram meme pages are about selling out for this band by blasting their music on every post and pinning the song name underneath. That app really is just 50% sellouts and 50% Nazis.
Anyway this song is ass.

The most unapologetic on-the-nose rip off of a sound I've heard all year, holy shit this is LITERALLY just "We have Sleep Token/Bring me the Horizon at home". I initially wanted to brush them off based on their low ratings and aformentioned slander, but after seeing bro defend himself from the industry plant claims saying he's "organically grown" I had to see for myself. Safe to say that was the biggest goddamn lie I've ever ... read more
Yeah man? This is how we're ending the year?
It's very fitting that the shittiest Call of Duty game gets Avenged Sevenfold's shittiest song. And that's not hyperbole or an exaggeration: I've listened to their entire discography for 2 decades, all of their covers, all of their side projects yada yada, and this might take the cake of their worst song. As a LIBAD fan (this fuckass website will never make me hate it), it sounds like Matt took every single worst aspect of ... read more
Jordan Fish leaving Bring me the Horizon is slowly becoming one of the most annoying things to happen to alternative metal man. I loved Negative Spaces, but Jesus not every single piece of alternative metal HAS to sound like BMTH. This basically echoes how I felt about the big crossover song End of You, very formulaic and predictable, but Poppy still eats when it comes to metal ballads so she carries in that weight.
God Battlefield 6 is so peak
Anyways a surprisingly fun song by Limp Bizkit, it's nice to hear Fred Durst do rap vocalizations that aren't bathed in wigger energy. The bridge after the second chorus is the most thrown together nothingburger of a bridge, but a fun song nonetheless.
Why are the 808s so fucking loud bro, song is so aah that Deftones took the sample back I'm in tears (yes I know this is a year old but it still makes me laugh)
I honestly thought this was very whelming. This was pretty much just a by the books Evanescence song with a Poppy feature and a fraction of a Courtney LaPlante feature (seriously her feature was like 10 seconds wtf), coupled with a typical alt metal/metalcore breakdown. Having Poppy and Courtney on the same song and not having any kind of dual screaming like Slaugtherhouse 2 on the last Knocked Loose album is pretty wack. It's passable, but could have been way better/harder.
Hey Chevelle, THAT’S how you drop a summer alt-metal project.
This is their best album since White Pony, I don’t give a fuck. Since I first got into Deftones and listened to Around the Fur during the pandemic, they have swiftly become one of my favorite metal bands of all time. Their nu-metal origins and intense screams and guitar riffs blend so perfectly with the mellow shoegaze “bruh I’m floating” energy in a lot of their later work, and I could bump any of ... read more

Disappointingly mid.
I've been deep into my Chevelle Discography listen session, so when I saw the singles and news that their new album was finally coming out after a 4 year hiatus, I was stoked. However I found the album to be very lackluster on a few major points. The guitar work across the album can range from fun and engaging like Rabbit Hole, to straight up 1 note and boring as hell like on Hallucinations and Blood Out in the Fields (seriously what is ... read more

Well fuck me in the ass, it IS that bad
What the hell happened here man? I wasn't a huge Rise Against fan, but I always respected the hell out of their biggest hits. Give It All, Re-Education Through Labor, Prayer of the Refugee, all absolute bangers that dominated a lot of rock music I listened to growing up. But this album is the biggest identity crisis I've heard from a ... read more

Boy I sure put this one off, and for good reason apparently. The bar is tremendiously through the Earth's crust because we have to give praise to the fact that All That Remains isn't writing straight up buttrock anymore (for the most part). The instrumentals are petty solid throughout and aren't comically overproduced or touched up like they were in Madness. However it all amounts to basically the same mediocre metalcore slop ... read more
Wow a Muse song in the past 5 or so years that isn't a complete pile of shit. It's pretty engaging, but I'm not going to be totally won over by some Sleep Token style djent riffs alone. With that being said, I'll keep an eye out for a possible new album with this sound, just don't fuck it up.
