Finally, a reason to post on this website again.
From the names of the songs that were showing online, this is going to be a very spiritual "bruh I'm floating" sound, and this song sells it. It's got that slower, droning effect that Ohms had, and I'm here for it cause that album rocked. Chino's voice sounds kind of strange/off at points, almost like it's a stifled yell, but further listens will probably change that.
Between this and Deafheaven dropping, ... read more
FELCOMMENTARY’S NOSTALGIA MUSIC REVIEWS #2: Avenged Sevenfold's “City of Evil"
A huge happy 20 year anniversary to one of the most important and influential albums to not only my childhood, but my music taste as a whole. This review is going to be a bit different from my elongated ones as I want to spend more time talking about what the album, as well as the band, meant to me as a kid and still does to this day. Feel free to skip to the actual songs itself if you ... read more

Doing reviews for a band like Swans is a gargantuan task, and honestly I feel like I don't have the knowledge or listening experience in their discography to do it justice. Swans was a band that I like and respect, but was never REEEEEEALLY into, the same way I am with a band like Godspeed You! Black Emperor. A lot of the imagrey and themes in the lyrics that go along with the droning and hard-hitting rock instrumentals are beautiful, but at times I feel like ... read more
Definitely weaker than the first single: the song goes on for a bit too long and the lyrics are more vapid in a "we're going to dance around what we actually want to talk about instead of outright saying anything meaningful" - think Muse's last album. But it's still a pretty fun song, groovy guitars and all that jazz.
Melpert, my beloved
I first listened to Red Vox when they performed at MagFest 2025 and thought they put on an excellent show. Vinny shows himself to be both a great entertainer in terms of stage presence, and also a great vocalist with some solid range. Yes, the band is very heavy handed with their Radiohead/Pink Floyd influences, but it's still some kickass indie rock tunes. Great choruses, great range again from Vinny, what's not to love?

The Callous Daoboys makes mathcore more accessible and I love them for it (for the most part)
I'll be honest, I was never much of a mathcore fan. I heard some of TDEP's earlier works but it didn't really click with me; it just felt TOO chaotic and unmemorable in the way other crazy ass metal I like is. However their previous album I did enjoy quite a bit, as it fleshed in some alternative metal moments and cleaner vocals to help assimilate normies ... read more
We are so fucking back it's not even a joke or an exaggeration
I have been begging for new Loathe since I finally listened to I Let It In and It Took Everything; some would just write them off as "metalcore Deftones" but I feel like they had a lot more potential than that, and even so they sound amazing. This new single just proves my point to a tee. Everything about it was amazing, the transitions between the soft shoegaze moments, the ear ringing Mic Gordon type Djent riffs, ... read more

A relatively fun - if not sometimes repetitive - post-grunge listen. I, like a lot of people I'm sure, heard about Superheaven when their song Youngest Daughter blew up like crazy on Reels/YouTube Shorts. It was a really good song, so with the newest album dropping I figured I'd give it a listen; dare I say I'm starting to really love post-grunge and want to dig into the genre more, even if it has had its share of cornier moments in the 2000s. ... read more
Another perfect example of how utterly cancerous social media algorithms and Instagram Reels in particular truly are. An up and coming big artists drops one mid song, it blows up and y'all take that as a means to just absolutely BOMB the artist themself. I understand that shitting on Kendrick Lamar and Doechii is the current meta with unfunny ragebait music meme pages, but can we act like fucking adults for once in our lives please?
You don't hate Doechii, you hate social media ... read more
Ahahahahaha I can't with this fucking band man. This is the "DYWTYLM" of this new album, but somehow even worse. I can't decide where to start: do I laugh at this Rugrats nursery rhyme ass instrumental? The extremely unfitting and tacky reggae bit that comes in in the background? The sanctamonious woe-is-me lyrics with corny ass lines like "stick to me like caramel"? You can't forget the "every fucking alternative metal/metalcore song has to sound like a ... read more

Aaaaw snap, Chevelle is coming for the dipshit conspiracy theorists now and I'm here for it.
I really like the presentation here between the odd but engaging vocal deliveries and the lyrics on this song. "Don't give them an inch" is the realest thing to ever say about conspiracy theorists, because in one breath you'll go from "9/11 was an inside job" to "Bill Gates is a Jewish plant that's trying to vaccinate the population ... read more
“I am so lonely.” - Conquest
They did it. Never in a million years did I think they could do it, but they did: they topped Sunbather.
Over the years, Deafheaven has slowly become one of my favorite metal bands of all time. The way that this band can take the cornier moments of black metal (to me at least) and make them show a beautiful, hopeful and warming experience will never be matched. I always make the statement that if I could ever listen to an album for the first time ... read more
I promise on Elon Musk's life that I am not a metal elitist, because it's some of the corniest behavior in the music community, but what in THEE fuck is this man? This single - and what I can only imagine is the entire new album - is a double down on everything off their last album that was absolutely unlistenable. Genre wise, this is the sonic equivalent of jamming a square peg into a triangle hole: the first two minutes are an extremely tacky Imagine Dragons song that has some of ... read more
FELCOMMENTARY SPEED REVIEW:
The amount of hoops and shifting of the goal post that kids on this website do to justify artists and their shitty behavior will never not be comedy gold to me.
Anyways yeah, this is not good: I have never seen a more rediculous rollout of an album in quite a while. Between tracks that were clearly meant to transition into another and aren't properly placed in the tracklist, songs that were clearly not finished or produced in a completely different fashion ... read more

It most definitely needs multiple listens, but first impression is that this album is very whelming. Good, but whelming.
I can see what the bois were going for concept wise, but I felt like the execution on a lot of the songs (especially the interludes) just felt very disjointed and didn't help hammer it home, the same way the interludes on TEAATB and VOBBB. The instrumentals/beats on a lot of the songs here were very weird at times, and pretty tame in ... read more

I've really been getting into Killswitch Engage more these past few months (or at least their two best albums). Howard Jones is quickly becoming one of my favorite metal singers (we need more brothas in metal too cmoooon) and the absolutely thunderous and borderline orchestral choruses are some of the catchiest shit I've been listening to. So when I saw that a new Killswitch Engage album was coming out, of course I have to jump on it. I do know that Howard ... read more

Happy (late) New Years AOTY!
Remember that time Lil Baby out-woked J. Cole during one of the most extreme civil unrest occurrances in recent American history? God this song was so good: never in a million years did I think an artist like Lil Baby would drop something as self-aware and critical as this.
