The absolute whiplash of seeing the new vocalist AND a confirmation of a new album was enough to put me in a cast
I'm sure everyone agrees, this is going to be a VERY weird first listen when the album drops. With a band as huge as Linkin Park getting a new vocalist and considering how extremely not good their last album from 7 years ago was, expectations are going to be scattered. However from this single I have hope that this will be good, or at least better than OML. The production and ... read more
80 > 90, I'm not beating the glazing allegations
A heavily political Godspeed album is JUST what I needed for 2024 (yes I know Godspeed has always been political, but especially so given the subtext of this album)
I won't lie, I do miss the days of multi-string instrumentation and the use of field recordings and demos to help hammer down the political nature of the band, but their music has not been impacted severely because of these, as the production and melodies are still ... read more

So this is what they meant by "pandering to chronically online leftists". Also produced by Dr. Luke, eat shit.
I have not heard an album sound as lost and disjointed as this album was, what the fuck were Zeal & Ardor trying to achieve with this thing?
Zeal & Ardor initially drew me in with the unique and amusing fusion of black metal instrumentals/screams and the vibe of American soul music. The song "Devil is Fine" hits every single one of these notes to a tee and I love every single moment of it, from the gruff distorted vocals and sound effects to the rising metal strumming and ... read more
GET THIS SHIT ON SPOTIFY ALREADY BRO IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS CMAAAAAAAN
FELCOMMENTARY SPEED REVIEW
(I'm going to start doing these if I'm mad behind on reviewing albums in a year or if there just isn't enough content provided to do a full in-depth like I typically try to do)
Green Day has managed to pull themselves out of the self-made coffin that was "Father of All.." and make a painfully mediocre comeback. I'm sure to hardcore Green Day Fans this is a very welcomed return to form, very similar to the latest blink-182 album. However ... read more
I always thought it was a bit of a circlejerk with how much internet music nerds hated this band. I thought maybe it was just because of how much of an unbearable cunt Ronnie Radke is, but no, this music is ACTUALLY as bad as everyone makes it out to be good lord. It's the ultimate mash up of generic metalcore/alternative metal breakdowns, "We have Corey Taylor at home" screams, horrendous and unecessary rap features/segments, and lyrics that make Ben Shapiro seem like a fucking ... read more
It's a fun infectious album but my God y'all are glazing the FUCK out of this lmao
For a little while, I was worried that Charli was in her mid arc with some of the recent releases. CRASH was extremely passable "contractually obligated" pop music that saw her playing into none of her strengths and had a lot of skips on it. Some of her recent singles were the same way, particularly that one with the Sam Smith feature that I wrote a short review for. So when it came time for ... read more
Dorks be like "erm actually it's very overproduced so it's not cool"
This was a great and unexepected collab song and reminds me that yes, Breaking Benjamin can write good songs, they just haven't dropped anything new in like 4 years (seriously guys wtf). Great chemistry between Starset and Benjamin Burnley's singing, catchy and memorable hook, well place roars in the vocals, it hits eveyr single note of a typical alt metal/hard rock song.
Houdini might have been one of the greatest baits of a possible good album ever, because good God this was fucking lame.
When I heard the first single, I was actually kind of excited to hear a new Eminem album: a concept about putting his classic character to rest and to see how he'd react to a modern day world. It was a great idea: on paper. In execution, the concept is an aboslute goddamn mess. Between corny skits that add little to nothing to the album experience since the following ... read more
A relatively by-the-books alternative metal song that doesn't do anything amazing, but it's extremely refreshing to see Poppy back in the metal game with some great screams in the chorus. Especially so after the disappointing mess of her last album. Maybe a few more listens will make me boost the score but I'll take it for what it is.
A huge stepdown from the previous single. Starting your song with "Toby Maguire was bit by a spider, but see me it was a goat" is questionable enough, but the performances from the features were extremely mid/corny and the beat felt like I was getting edged the entire time for a proper drop in it. It's frustrating to see Eminem go back to "old man yelling at clouds" songwriting when Houdini was what he should have been going for.
Wow these three new singles are uh, not great. I know people were mixed on the band's previous album, but I found a lot of the songs on that album hard hitting and engaging, despite not really having that avant-garde folk black metal thing they usually do. These songs, especially Clawing out, just sound like the most boneless alt metal songs you could ever make. Not relaly hyped for the album if it's all going to sound like this.
Bro is doing EVERYTHING in his power to get people to forget that Kendrick called him a pedophile
Am I missing something with the hate, I really enjoyed this song. It's that classic fun and infectious Eminem that I grew up with and I can see how this is going to play into the idea of The Death of Slim Shady. The bars are funny and nowhere near the cornball level that we've seen from Eminem's past few albums. This is ACTUALLY what Tom Macdonald thinks he's writing but doesn't have the charisma or talent or pengame or fucking anything to do exactly that. It's obvious that Eminem is playing ... read more
I try my best to not be hyperbolic with descriptions of albums, but this truly and honestly was an egregious torturous exercise to listen to, right up there with waterboarding. I heard a bit about the discourse around Sexyy Red, especially with Fantano's review on her previous album, but I never made an actual effort to listen to her music until the Drake song dropped. I can now comfortably say: Fantano, never open your mouth about rap again bro, she's not gonna let you hit, this shit is ... read more
I mean as far as Falling in Reverse goes it's not TERRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE, but then again it's easy to not be the worst song ever when you blatantly rip off Slipknot with those "I'M SO FUCKIN EDGY AND DEEP" spoken word passages in the middle of your trash mix. Also that Tech N9ne feature just completely disrupted the flow of the song in typical FIR fashion, and the outro was just plain cringe.
Completely forgot to listen to this when it dropped, and it's ite. It feels very underwritten from a lyrical and instrumental side and the riffs aren't very memorable. The bridge is at least kinda cool with the reverberated vocals. I haven't listened to too much of Serj's side music but I feel like he can write better than this.
Career ending levels of attrocious. I listened to it on YouTube and was astounded at how dogshit the vocals and beat sounded so I went to Spotify to hear a High Quality version. Nope, it just sounds like that on purpose. We're already off to a great start with that, but J. Cole's performance on this song might actually be one of, if not his absolute worst in his entire career. The flow that he went for does NOT fit his style and feels like a compromise for this wack ass beat. I complained ... read more
Disappointed is an understatement
I absolutley loved POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR and everything that it had to offer. Some great deathcore-era screams and growls, fun and memorable alt-metal songs with cool and engaging electronic effects, and Kingslayer, which to this day is my favorite Bring Me the Horizon song. Not many bands can say "hey we just made our best song many many years into our career". With that being said, I was extremely excited to listen to the newest iteration of ... read more
