Damn my wife really popped off with this one

Very passable modern day metalcore. I do like the harsh vocals and some of the passages, but a lot of it feels very same-y to me and unappealing. It commits the biggest sin in modern day metalcore/djent where the chorus is just a wall of sound where everything is so turned up and blended into each other you can't pick any of the instruments out. Short ramble/review, I've been going through and putting in the scores of all the albums I've listened to and rated from 2019-2022 and it unfortunately made me remember this album. Hey guys, when bands do cover albums for boring content, they usually - you know - do covers of other songs and not shitty acoustic ones of their own? Like why did they even bother making this lmao

Full review pending, definitely need another listen because on the first one this album is NOT it. Poppy feels like she couldn't decide if she wanted to make a dark wave pop album or an industrial rock album and neither parts sound good.

The Callous Daoboys comes out with another banger set of songs. They ratchet the weird-as-fuck avant-garde aspect way up with the variety of genres and sounds they jump through. It makes me think of SiM's newest album, but good. I will say the alt-metal passages feel more bladn this time around, but not enough for me to outright hate anything on this project. Pretty good EP, hoping for more.

The most club pop song you'll hear. Charli's singing is good and the production is fine, but she's REALLY punching under her weight with this one. Considering how I felt about CRASH, please tell me she's not in her mid era.

The hook was kind of weak and the crazy hyper-pop type effects that have been on tracks like Amen are pretty sparse here. It kind of just felt like a weak Linkin Park song. I'm hoping the next project they drop is more like Amen than this.

Chino's side project once again provides some excellent brooding, eerie and weirdly calming synthetic tracks this year. The production and vocals on this album are fantastic, with a solid variety of hard-hitting pop bangers to relaxing amibent instrumentals. Dude took every single radio trope from the 2010s from the clapping to tacky rap features (Yung Gravy really phoned it in here) and threw it together haphazardly into a 17 minute project. I REALLY do not like how influential Imagine Dragons has become, because that's exactly what this fucking slop sounds like. Didn't these guys used to be hard rock back in the day, or at least AMV-rock tier music? Now it's just a cacophony of every tacky, uninterseting and played out pop music trope of the past 10 years in one album with the most fake-deep, "We have Bring Me the Horizon at home" ass name ever.

Corey Taylor manages to continue his downward spiral of a mediocre Slipknot album, a joke of an EP, and then this. This is the epitome of WE HAVE GUNS N' ROSES AT HOME!

Surely this is the worst album of the year, right? I'd be hard pressed to see if anything else can top this. His rapping and singing on this album literally sounds like the guys on Syrup by Slump AK.
