I've known a lot of these songs for years so maybe nostalgia carries. But wow this album will mess you up if you're in the wrong mood. Anyways, some of his better work.
This album: the most generation song you've ever heard or the most nothing burger thing in existence, no in between.
Not nearly as consistent as Salad Days, but the hits are there. I think I had a Mac Demarco phase lmao.
I mean... greatest indie rock album of all time. Seriously though, hit after hit. Lots of nostalgia on this one.
Great album but idrk why but it's a bit corny to me..? This feels like a Mr.Beast intro if that makes sense. Probably a me problem icl. Besides that though, the production is amazing and the performances are all super high energy. Maybe a bit too high energy even.
Was pleasantly surprised by the number of beat switches in this album, it's kinda crazy lol. Anyway, the highlight of this for me is how well jid flows on every one of these beats. So many different flows from JID it honestly feels like he's just flexing at some points.
It's great, don't get me wrong... but super overrated. I do love it though mostly for its consistent greatness. It's really really difficult to choose a favorite song off this stacked tracklist. The storying telling is great, which isn't something you see much of on more modern rap albums as much.
There's literally nothing bad about this album. Usually I love upbeat albums but this does feel a bit cocomelon at times, but I'm able to get past that. That might just be me though.... Anyway the album just goes better and better the deeper you go into it. Some of the best production of any rap album this decade.
A bit boring at times but this album has such a cool atmosphere. Wish they'd diversify their style a LITTLE bit though. Some highlights on this for sure though.
Can't say this is great like their other work, but it's a consistently good album so it gets a 70 from me.
I mean... How do I even begin to describe everything this album means to me. Some of these songs are genuinely some of the best things I've ever heard. The use of samples is so unique and insanely high quality. Absolutely peak music. Not higher only because of the end unfortunately.
I don't get these others scores at all. They'd make sense for other albums, but this one wasn't boring imo.
This album made me fall in love with TV Girl, one of my favorite bands ever. So many great songs on this album, not just Lovers Rock lol. TV Girl just has such a unique style man.
Ughhhh I'm so generic ughhhhh. No but I can't see myself not loving this album. It's literally flawless in every sense of the word. And I'm not even big on R&B at all. There are literally no bad moments to be found on this though.
Wasn't the biggest rock fan when I first listened to this so probably should relisten. However, a lot of these songs made me cry, and as we all know, that's a win in my book.
I waited for this for about a year so it's still kinda surreal that it's actually here. And even with the wait, I'm pretty happy with this new release. However, there are a lot of issues I have with it. Firstly, a lot of it feels pretty careless. Most of that feeling comes from the mixing just feeling off and a lot of other things feeling off actually (ex: transition from preacher man intro to first verse being NONEXISTENT). It's small things but they all add up to feel ... read more
My 2nd favorite or favorite Carti album. Really consistent which isn't a quality of his newer stuff. Oh and the lyrics were actually coherent and he didn't need to be carried at all. Production was great too. All in all, good job Carti :)
I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised by this, especially with the meh reputation it has. Unfortunately though, Carti got his mumbling ass carried by the features, but he had some actually decent performances too. It definently is bloated though lol.
