Madvillain - Madvillainy

This is probably slightly overrated, but not much. Some of DOOM's greatest rapping (which is saying a lot), and top that with one of the greatest producers of all time absolutely cooking, it makes for an amazing album obviously. Unfortunately, I do wish that some songs were just slightly longer at times (ehem ehem Fancy Clown).

Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain

Not sure why but I am a big fan of this album cover; fits the album perfectly and it's awesome. ANYWAYS, DOOM raps great on this so no issues there, but where this album loses points is in the length... it kinda feels bloated with some meh tracks. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting a bit bored listening to this. But, most tracks are highlights. So basically good album, but the production could've made it a bit less boring.

Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD
75

Very overrated imo. Great first half but the 2nd half kinda just feels boring (until coffee beans). Once again with Travis, consistency is the issue. But even a meh Travis song is pretty decent, so yeah.

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
95

I'm pretty surprised by the low ratings. In my opinion, this is Travis' best album, and if not, it's definently my favorite. Easily his most consistent work because this album genuienly has no skips, unlike his others. The length was also nice lol. Having 14 consistently great songs is better than having 5 hits.

Travis Scott - Rodeo
90

Crazy good production and actually consistent. Some extremely songs, but all of them have great energy that's super contagious. Just SLIGHTLY bloated though.

Travis Scott - UTOPIA
85

Great album but I just wish it was most consistent. Definently one of the best rap albums of the decade though, probably should've won a Grammy... lol.

Nas - It Was Written
95

This, in my opinion, is just as good as Illmatic and should be equally respected. Some of the smoothest, most laminer flow-sounding rapping I've ever heard. Just gliding on the production. And it's just such high level rap with amazing storytelling that isn't even hard to follow, but very complex at the same time. Some of the best rapping you'll ever hear on this thing.

Nas - Illmatic
95

I mean... every single song on this album is a certified classic. Everybody knows this album and the songs on it, which just speaks to its quality. It's still hard to believe that this was made in 1994 with how ahead of its time everything is. A classic's classic that truly lives up to its esteemed reputation.

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager
95

Now this one has some BANGERS. I've found a lot of these songs stuck in my head. So much passion behind the delivery of every line and you can really feel it. This album gets you emotional while also feeling like you can do anything, which I guess summarizes Cudi's music pretty well.

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day
90

Extremely consistent album, but nothing really blew me away. Maybe I'm just not up for this style unfortuately, but I can for sure appreciate it for its quality.

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
100

Pharrell is a genius. This album is really special to me, and helped me with my mental health for some reason lol. I guess feeling awesome helps you out. Anyway, where do I even begin. EASILY the best rap album of the decade imo. Just hit after hit and thrilling even after a dozen listens. Seriously, these songs just never get old. Pusha and Malice are both veterans, but some of their best performances can be found here which is crazy. Just premium rap.

Clipse - Lord Willin'
85

One of the few instances where the rapping beats the production and I don't mind it. Malice is SO good holy moly. Idk how these guys have been rapping about coke for 2 decades lmao. Oh and Pharrell's parts are always good on this, along with his production ofc.

Rick Ross - Teflon Don
90

This album, especially the first half, absolutely blew me away. I had basically no expectations going in, but that first half genuinely felt like I was listening to MBDTF 2.0. Some of the best production I've ever heard accomponied by such awesome performances. This album just makes you feel awesome, and who doesn't like that. Maybach Music III, Live Fast, Die Young, and Super High... what a 3 song run.

Pusha T - My Name Is My Name
80

Nothing too memorable on this album for me except for Nostalgia of course and Let Me Love You which has a chorus that has been stuck in my head on SO many days lol along with pusha's laid back rapping it's such a good song.

Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
85

Super fun album which is funny considering it's a pusha t album and it's coke rap lmao. Kanye vs Pharrell was a pretty cool gimmick. I think Kanye did better but every track is good I'm not gonna act like Pharrell sold or anything. And ofc, pusha raps well on here as always.

Pusha T - DAYTONA
75

I know my goat produced it but this album is SO overrated imo. The production isn't all that I'ma be real, but pusha does bring out some great performances... because that's what he does 🔥

Small Forward - Tearjerker
80

A very nice song but that's about it. I have a lot of songs in my playlist like this so that's my bad lol.

Small Forward - Affections
70

Nice ambient songs but that album has no real highlights for me unfortuantely.

Small Forward - Small Forward
100

This was my favorite album for a long time. Like Vibes & Days, every lyric feels like it was made for me, so it really resonates with me. Also its got quite a nostalgia factor that has to do with when I heard it. But every song feels like it was crafted with such care by these guys. It's one of the few albums that has no clear-cut best song because they're all so good. 2nd favorite album as of right now.

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
80

Unc still rapping at his best. Smooth beats with amazing rapping, you can't really go wrong.

"@fangrlackssense my ratings are based on my personal enjoyment of an album. I had a lot of fun listening to Iceman especially cuz it surpassed my expectations. My score might be slightly lower on a relisten though, but I found it consistently good. But, me giving Iceman an 80 has zero bearing on my rating for this, as this and Iceman are completely different lmao."

"exactly it's literally just that it's smooth. But it's REALLY smooth. It's like how the texture of a food can affect your enjoyment of it. And creamy food is generally good, and the same is true for rap. Okay maybe this food analogy wasn't the best but you get the point."
