KAYTRANADA and Amine work well together - this album, for the most part, is a summer hit.
It's clear that the boys have lost a lot of their chemistry. Their newest effort is painfully average.
There's not a single track on here where Don Toliver truly shines, the rapper just plays it safe with his regular trap & R&B aesthetic. What makes the album a bit better is the frequent help from other artists and enjoyable production.
You might as well just turn it off after the first track.
Quest for Fire becomes repetitive quite quickly but you can always count on high quality production from Skrillex.
The ability of Lil Yachty to curate an impressive album with solid features and top notch production is really what shines here. That doesn't mean that his performance is bad, it just doesn't seem to be the main attraction of this LP either.
This is a damn forgettable album filled with tons of wasted skill and maybe even more boredom.
JID's skills are just impeccable. This is undoubtedly one of the best rap records released in 2022.
While not every artist on here reaches their full potential, Metro's high quality production still makes HEROES & VILLAINS a fine listen.
Smino has pretty much found his style and rolled with it for the entirety of the album, which panned out great.
This farewell from Kevin is well put together, however it would be interesting to hear other members' perspectives on the group's disbandment.
The band goes out with one of their weakest projects. Compared to their previous endeavours TM seems to lack direction and sounds a bit uninspired.
Kid Cudi sounds painfully uninspired. He hasn't tried to do anything out of his comfort zone and it speaks to the sheer blandness of the record. Most songs on Entergalactic sound like MOTM 3 throwaways.
The atmosphere of this project is so raw and dense. It's a delight from start to finish.
Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is a simple, boring mess. Even the most promising artists on it couldn't bother to give it more than just a half-assed performance. There's nothing to unpack here and certainly not much fun to be had.
Playing this album will put me in a slightly better mood. Still very much an upgrade over Drake's dance album which puts me right to sleep.
There's a couple of phenomenal hits on I'm Up, however that alone can't make this project great. Most of the songs on here are just mediocre.
