To me F# A# infinity and LYSFLAtH are two sides of a coin.
While F# walked along side me in times of internal struggles and complicated emotions, mirroring the internal apocalypse I was going through, Skinny Fists help me in the times of anxiety, calm my nerves and help me concentrate on stuff like reading or any other mental activity. Maybe dark and light side of the moon analogy would work here too.
Though I love this project almost as much as it's predecessor, I don't have as much to say ... read more
So, me and my father had this phase of listening to music together, and it was mostly me introducing him to some of the newer stuff (Radiohead, Muse, Tool, The Strokes etc). He actually loves it still, though he's a huge 70-80s person.
But sometimes he'd suggest music for our sessions. I wouldn't be too excited, but I always encouraged him to share stuff he liked. In Soviet Union they wouldn't really have access to albums and singles, they'd listen to anything that got illigally imported (it ... read more
Outstanding. But it seems quite inconsistent to me. So much so that I would even say that 10,000 Days is more coherent in terms of quality. Tracks like The Patient, Reflection or the infamous Ticks and Leaches seem too long, while Parabol/a and Lateralus don't. Nothing on 10,000 Days made me think "Man, I wish it ends soon"'. I just don't get it, I guess.
And also I'd like to add that Lateralus is my favourite song of all time. It's so perfect!
Edit: Ok, I get The Grudge now, it ... read more
Yep, another decent Daughter album...
To be honest Daughter was always a "kinda" band to me. Yeah, I'm kinda a fan, kinda like some of their stuff and I was kinda waiting for 7 years.
So this album doesn't really stray from their sound. It's not really ambitious and quite tame half the time. Stereo Mind Game feels like calm ocean surface, yet has this chamber-like feel and they sometimes neutrolize eachother. BUT you know what? It's actually a concept album! Most tracks have ... read more
Russian Experementation Field is one of the best songs I've heard and possibly the best Russian song.
A cynical and dark view on Russian traditions, the way of life and the way of thinking. The song is really out-there: they change tempo, Letov just stops rhyming at a point and introduces some rediculous and extreme imagery, that actually brings a really cathartic emotion. The whole poetry and imagery is just great, I love it.
I think, if you want to understand Russian people, this is a ... read more
Holy fucking shit :skeleton_emoji:
I never thought I'd feel excited, scared, connected to the world and comfortable with myself all at the same time and just from a song!!!
I mean, the first 5 minutes of this just fly by, you enjoy it a lot throughout, but then you have this build up... It's a build up with an amazing pay off in a form of another build up, which results in the greatest pay off in metal or, possibly, even music history.
Just explain to me, what the hell is going on sonically ... read more
The main problem I have with Daughter is they are pretty bland throughout their songs. I mean the bass is the main course here, why wouldn't you put some sick leaks in there, since you have so much space for them. Push your sound god damnit! The climax of this song is quite underwhelming.
But still, I think it's the best single yet off of the upcoming album. The beautiful intro synths pouring into the main groove of the track are pretty cool. The bass is in your face and really fat which feels ... read more
First track is a masterpiece. Change my mind!
So.... This is my new track. I'm pretty much a low-skilled amateur, but I tried my best on it, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out!
The prospect of death. The meaning of it to us as humans is delivered amazingly here.
Starting from the guitar riff that never skips a bit, a constant stream of sound, which metaphorically could be seen as clocks ticking, symbolising the unstoppabilty of life. On top of that there are lyrics. The themes of our inability to change anything, how death just flows through everything in the world and pierces our souls from every direction. It's the dimest shadow. Thom's vocals are hauntingly ... read more
88 -> 100
All the bad emotions I have find their place here, but amped to a 100. It's dynamic, colorful, masterfully written and produced, the concept is executed amazingly. Every song is a banger and stands on it's own.
A Warm Place always makes me really emotional, it's a beautiful ambient tune that comes after a bunch of very noisy and disgusting tracks, which is just brilliant to me.
Perfection.
It's a trip, it's a vibe, it's a master class in creating slow burners.
Truly a masterpiece
This is quite consistantly banging and a very intense album.
I love the vocal melodies, how almost every track sounds like a huge wall of sound. They create my favourite element about this EP, which is crazy intensity and tightness. I would love to slam to this on a concert. I don't really love Oliver's lyricism, I just like it, it's solid, still a bit cheesy and sometimes edgy. Still the themes of the EP make me quite curious, so I really enjoy PHSH without a lot of compromises.
Good shit.
To me, it's been really hard to grasp what I feel about this album, why exactly every time I hit play on Vicarious, I end up on Right in Two without any skips.
I'll start reviewing it song by song then finalise the review with the experience I get listening to it.
*TRACK BY TRACK:
First 2 tracks are just classic Tool and the things I love about them is how they make wierd time signatures sound so catchy (also really confusing to play on guitar for me as an amature), the production is just ... read more
I'm not feeling a longer type of review on this concept album. Just because I think нехудожник. is not nearly a fully fleshed out artist but a talented one.
Even though "How the Stars Melt in a Blue Sea" has a really defined raw sound, it's coherent enough to be enjoyable. Vocals are quite obnoxious half the time, yet there is potential.
The lyrics are deffinetly the highlight of this album and I don't really feel them, even though the themes are hit close to home. I like ... read more
This EP has one great aspect of Muse which makes their early stuff age really well - banging rock music. By that I mean catchieness, constant overflowing levels of energy and sonic adventurousness.
Take Dead Star for example. Deffinetly one of the most catchy choruses of 2000s, constantly changing stunning vocal melody. The instrumentals just carry you through the song, you don't even notice it ending. I don't really like how corny the verse vocals are, but, you know, it's kinda fun. In your ... read more
Cringe. As soon as Elisa started singing, I found my self too overwhelmed with bad production, I couldn't continue listening
