Listening to an album everyday or I buy my friend a beer
Day #10
I love those kind of albums, that deliver on the repetitiveness. Combine gorgeous, incredibly detailed production with beautiful melodies, otherworldly textures and you will get long immersive songs, so captivating, you don't even notice time passing.
Yet it's not perfect for me either. I was a little disappointed hearing the age in this album. For example the overly reverbed drums sometimes start sticking out as a rudiment of ... read more

GOOD. One problem for me though. This album is pretty fun, the guys have nice chemistry, Alex Turner's quirky lyrics are entertaining, showing quite the slick charisma he has. But, I can't help but feel constantly underwhelmed just a bit. This thing is daring, but not daring enough, riffs slap, but the pay-off in the end doesn't come off well enough and the lyrics lack substantiality to me. Surely a lot about it must have been ... read more

Day #8
I don't really like poetry, but listening to "Bright Future" made me feel like this is what's poetry like for people who love it.
I know nothing about Adrienne Lenker, except for them being a part of Big Thiefs, but they deffinetly seem like a nice person with a lot of struggles. First thing that pops out on this album are vocals, they are on the forefront, so gentle, yet so volatile, feeling so genuine and fitting ... read more

Day #7
Trent Reznor is my god. My personal ear-pleaser. Also I thought "The Downward Spiral" was the only NIN's output in their well-produced-fun-industrial-rock era. I feel like "Pretty Hate Machine" is underproduced and too rough around the edges, while "The Fragile" is just not it somehow (I have only heard some tracks off of these albums, should I check them out?).
And then I heard "Broken". ... read more

Day #6
Ok, this is hard. "White Pony" feels groundbreaking. The sound is unique as hell, dark shoegazy nu metal with a post-hardcore delivery. And what is actually great about it is how Deftones apply this uniqueness.
This album is all about a pit. A dark pit you get by surrounding yourself with all sorts of addictions, from adrenaline to hardcore drugs, from insane parties to an abusive relationship. This becomes the world ... read more

Day #5
Electricity! The pure energy Bowie channels through his music. It has always filled me with core emotions, almost instantly reminding me of how beautiful music can be in any shape or form. Incredibly inspirational. "Low" isn't an exception at all.
What I love about David Bowie's music, you can always tell what period his going through in his life. As far as I know this record is the first of the Berlin trilogy, ... read more

Ambient music. Drone music. These genres seem so fascinating to me, the challenge is to create something emotionally compelling almost out of nothing. An artistic obstacle you need very keen ear and heart to overcome.
This tho. This ain't cutting it for me. Melodically "By The Throat" doesn't do it for me. To me it sounds like a lot of nice textures glued together, a bunch of ideas that were too wild for a soundtrack ... read more

Day #3
This is hard for me. I'm actually struggling to rationalize it. Currents is produced immaculately, it's astonishing how by defying everything about modern production Kevin Parker created something so unique, catchy and ear-pleasing. Production so detailed, I feel I'm supposed be transported to another plain of existence, say, for example how the reverse whatever-synth transitions into a regular one in the later section of ... read more

Day #2
I rarely go into unfamiliar albums completely blind, but the nature of the challenge gives me this opportunity. I was very surprised to hear a blueprint for every punk album ever, at least that's my perception of punk-rock, as a person who rarely dives into the genre.
Extremely political, extremely energetic, to the point where I don't even get where they get the energy, I guess that's what massive dissatisfaction with the world ... read more

Day #1
And right away I have a confession to make. There's not much music made by female singers and songwriters I come back to, somehow there's not much emotional connection. I thought Weyes Blood was one of those highly praised artists, that I just don't get.
So I forced myself to listen to this album fully through that challenge and you know it payed off, man!

This album is marked as my favorite of all time on my page and it's not rock, which I generally tend to love, from Jeff Buckley's Grace to NIN's The Downward Spiral. Also their most famous LP - "Discovery" seems to be more impactful generally and just better, more cohesive. Then there is a question "Why?", which I've been asking myself since I heard RAM for the first time.
Well, to put it simply, it's everything I love about music. It's everything you'd want from music. Raw ... read more
If Tool was Australian. God, I'm obsessed with this thing!
Clearly messy, inconsistent and blend at times, but quite hard hitting throughout!
For the longest time Foo Fighters were one of the best hit rock-anthem makers of modern music. And they still are, but recently, with my growing dedication to listening to music in album form, I tried listening to Wasting Light, which apperantly is the Foo Fighters album, that doesn't only have one or two amazing songs, while the others are mid as hell, but it's great throughout. But as I was listening to it, I ... read more
Let's start with a really thoughtful opinion on Radiohead discography by John Frusciante of Red Hot Chilli Peppers:
"...I didn't even like OK Computer either, I just don't like that kind of guitar playing, that they were doing back than. When Kid A came out, that's what got me really excited".
Why do I start with such a specific quote? Well, firstly, I love John Frusciante and I am a big fan of his songs and sloppy, yet quite charismatic guitar playing. Secondly, I mostly agree ... read more
They don't miss!!!
Gizzards don't really do anything different here from the stuff they did on "Infest the Rat's Nest". It's not worse, just another kickass metal song and I love it!
I still can't believe there's no "Pee Is Stored in The Balls" here
Great sample, amazing beat switch-ups and the production is really nice, it just keeps you engaged throughout. I'm in love with how the outstanding lyrical contents are delivered with one of the most charismatic performances I've heard in hip-hop. I know it's just words with not much content in them, but if I started talking about how good this song is in detail, it would take hours.... Just give it a try, it's THAT great!
