It's one of the weirdest presidents in music, where you listen to singles, get disappointed and angry, because you waited so much, listen to the record, when it gets released and end up loving those songs and actually loving the entire record aswell. I really did think it was going to be a flop.
To think about it, isn't it wild as hell mesh together post-hardcore, hyperpop, metalcore and loads of emo and alternative metal aesthetics of 00s and smack some worldbuilding and ... read more
Ok, this is something I really wanted to share a while ago, but haven't really had words for it. Let me tell you why this is one of my favourite songs of all time.
It's hard to stand out in the world of music. To me most of the greatest songs of all time are the songs that manage to mix very complex set of emotions in a unique way and make them feel distinct within it. The emotions that sound like opposite, like disappointment and hope, joy and apathy, love and hate, emptiness and ... read more

A year ago, when I found "Long Season", I didn't love it, but liked it quiet a bit. I didn't see what you could draw from it, except for good dreamy feels.
Little did I know, that I'd find myself revisiting it so often, that here I am after more then a year listening to it on repeat at the coffee shop I'm working at.
You see, this album might not be reaching for depth, but it's WINDER THAN AN OCEAN. It feels like the flow of life itself. Even if ... read more
Another one by me. Feel free to check it out, would love to hear your thoughts!
Honestly, I've never really enjoyed a hip-hop album back to back. I don't really know why, it might be because the rapping itself sometimes doesn't fully blend into music and it gets too mesmorizing for a full length project. However I think Logic just dropped the project I'd been looking for all this time.
To me Logic has a load of flaws, which results in him dropping a load of crap over the years. The bars are on the nose or too goddamn preachy, the rapping is too ... read more
Jackus Whitst, you didn't have to come back so hard!!!
Let's make it short. Extremely catchy and loud blues rock, put through the lense of Jack White's charisma, which, as it has already been established with The White Stripes, is one of the most engaging in rock music. No low points, the marketing is as bold and refreshing as the attitude of this record.
It's just fantastic, fun and so utterly Jack White. I almost want this album to be a hot spring so I could bathe in it ... read more
So it happened that the themes of this album resonated with me lately. I've been listening to "Boodhail" nonstop, something about the violence of that bass hits hard, it feels like fighting your own nature, cutting your own flesh. Something so ethereal and unique, you can't really find anywhere else. That's this album. Nothing like it and when you feel low enough, you put this on.
I really did enjoy the hell out of the second half, which is, in comparison to the first ... read more
David Gilmour is the best solo guitarist imo. I've seen loads of people playing the solo guitar parts and, without any exaggeration, no one got even close. It's astonishing, considering how many skilled guitarists are out there. It feels like Gilmour captures lightning in a bottle, having the thinnest barrier between the emotion and the instrument of expression. Also the perfected effected on said guitar distorting at the desired loudness of the strings vibrating, the reverb effects ... read more

Wow, what sweet collection of songs.
As well as "The Dark Side of the Moon", "Meddle" has a strong vibe, delivered by Pink Floyd's confidence in their songwriting. They play into repetitions when it's needed, create quite elongated moments for the lyrics to pull you into a colorful picture. Honestly, I didn't expect such vivid and picturesque lyrics, touching me to the core.
For example I interprete "A ... read more

Sometimes you hear albums, that sound fantastic, but you don't connect to them emotionally, and then you ask yourself a question: 'What is it going for?'. To me, it's hard to distinguish that at times and for the legendary Aphex Twin's music I could never find the reason why it should be enjoyable. Sure, it's extremely impactful, you here the sounds and ideas off of this album all over modern or not so modern electronic music, ... read more

While not being the most fulfilling musical experience, "The Fat of the Land" is great at serving a purpose of presenting one of the best club/concert music out there. Not only that, just lying on my bed, I almost felt that sensory overload, those events get you to feel.
Confidently raving the concept the guys set out to do, they made a very cohesive set of tracks, that flow one into another, bringing those fat beats ... read more

Wtf?! My Depeche Mode just Kurt-Cobain'ed and Trent-Reznor'ed all over the floor! Can anyone help me clear this mess up???
Like, seriously, I'd been listening to Depeche Mode for years, not even noticing the songs off of this album standing out in terms of the sound. At the time there were a lot of new genres and styles emerging from the underground, like grunge or industrial rock, which made these dudes decide to take a lot of ... read more

I gotta say, it was one of the most boring listens I ever had. On the first glance it's bombastic, overflowing with textures and very well paced. Basically something I would enjoy a lot, but.... it felt extremely understimulating as if there was a brick wall between me and the emotional underlyings of this record.
Frist off, I think it sounds mediocre. It's as if the instruments live in different worlds. The drums and bass very ... read more

To me this album is a good reminder of why pop punk is the most boring genre and it's disappearance from existence wouldn't change anything in the world (Just wanted to take that pop punk frustration out of my system, it gets pent up sometimes sry). I mean, when this album at it's most pop punkiest, it's the most boring, goo goo ga ga ass music to ever exist. Thank god it's not fully that.
These wimpy dudes have character and ... read more

One of the most basic ways of looking at music is "ideas and their execution". By execution I mean the structure of a song, it's dynamics throughout, the confidence, the transparency of the concept. And by ideas I mean transitions between sections, lyrical expressions, hooks, a themes etc. One can't live without the other, it's just the way it is. And the point is, this album is full of cool, gripping ideas, but the ... read more

What's so amazing about this record is that it manages combining extreme levels of entertainment with progressive metal type of songwriting. I think Tool is the go to band for that exact thing.
Comparing this album to Lateralus, which is quite conceptual, serious and very spiritual throughout, "Ænima" adds a lot to the thematic palette. Irony, playfulness, elements of satire, introspection while being ... read more

Guilty pleasures. I want this review to reach a bit beyond an opinion on an album, I want it to be sort of a dissection of the "guilty pleasures" mechanism. An essay of sorts.
First of all, in my head, a guilty pleasure is NOT something you like that is conventionally bad. It's something you know is bad, or rather you would normally think is bad, or, to be more precise, some elements of it are usually the reason you ... read more
