Swans Deep Dive #11 This album seems to act as somewhat of an in between point between Children of God and their previous No Wave works. Some of the sounds and themes in this album remind me of Children of God, especially the opening track. A very intriguing opener as well as from what I can tell it is about a religious fanatic who does everything for his god, going as far as too hang himself (hence the tracks name). As for the (#2) tracks, I think they aren't necessary, and just feel ... read more
Genuinely look this song up on YouTube, this shit sounds cursed as hell (Ok, if you don't wanna type Lil Titty Tickling Menace The 16th into your search bar for whatever reason here is the link)

Swans Deep Dive #10 Alright guys I know this is an awfully high score so hear me out. Greed is the worst rated album by Swans on RYM and 2nd worst on AOTY, however I honestly find Greed to be far more effective as an experience than Cop. I found Cop to be somewhat lazily made, but at least here, there are some pretty amazing songs. Fool is definitely one of their best No Wave songs that I've heard from them. Also, Jarboe's first appearance is on this album, giving fantastic background ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #9 Yet another somewhat divisive album within Swans' discography. Unfortunately Cop fails in many ways to capture the raw energy and... well... filth of their previous albums & EPs. Gira almost sounds out of energy on this album, as he isn't able to give as raw vocals and deliveries as he was on their previous works. Almost every instrumental fails to create anything particularly new. It's almost as if the album thinks its more intimidating than it actually ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #8 A lot of similar traits from Filth are carried along to this EP, but unfortunately, it doesn't match it's quality. The lyrics are actually kinda catchy and can get stuck in your head but the instrumentals aren't nearly as cool or interesting as Filth or the Swans EP. You can kinda tell that Swans were still developing as a band to be as great as they would become in the future.
Fav song: Raping a Slave (Possibly the worst title for a song ever)
Swans Deep Dive #7 It's kinda intersting how their first EP had some elements of harsness present in it, however, they triple down on it with this album. Here, they abandon most sense of groove found in their previous album, instead going for this heavy abrasive sound. I'd say the title of the album is possibly the most fitting ever, as "Filth" is definitely the best singular word to sum up this albums sound. Some of their dirtiest sounding, most intimidating, and in many ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #6 Circling back to where it all began. Obviously I can't really write too much about this considering it's just a 18 minute long little EP (shorter than like 7 or 8 songs from the trilogy), however in that time it is consistently entertaining and particularly groovy. The only thing holding this album back in my opinion is the mixing on Gira's voice, I much prefer his voice when it is far more pronounced and kinda in your face (or I guess your ears?).
Fav song: ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #5 (my dumbass put 4 at first😭) This album takes a lot of the aspects from previous Swans albums and combines them into one very intimidating work. A lot of their music before this was great dont get me wrong, but this here is when Swans went from, pretty good to absolutely fantastic. It's the first time they ever really made music this grandiose, and it would go onto impact some of their later work as well. The album features some genuinely catchy songs, as well as ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #4 From what I'm aware this is one of Swans' more divisive albums. I guess this score would put me onto the side that doesn't like it as much. I get that this is meant to be a sister album to their previous album, but I guess I almost wish it wasn't? Most of the time it comes across as just a worse version of White Light From The Mouth of Infinity. It doesn't sound as satisfying, it doesn't offer as much content wise, and the skits are kind of ... read more

An interesting pair of songs for a single seeing as Failure is one of the most gloomy sounding songs off of their prettiest sounding album, and Animus is one of the most uplifting off of possibly their most disturbing album. Both 10/10 songs and highlights off their respective albums, though I do prefer Animus
Swans Deep Dive #3 This album is probably Swans most accessible album. It doesn't have any of the pure horror and filth of some of their previous music, while also not being as experimental as most of their future music. However, that is not to say that this album isn't unique, because it sure as hell is. Instead of finding quality in sheer intensity, it finds it in pure beauty. Some of the most pleasant sounding songs Swans have ever released are on this album, and further than just ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #2 So this is the lowest rated Swans album, the one people generally consider to be their worst. I bet so many bands and artists wish they could say their worst album was this good. Sure, it isn't anything particularly new or interesting, but it provides a nice and somewhat relaxing listen. I think the main flaw with this album however is that it’s not truly memorable. Some of the songs kinda wander without really going anywhere. However, while a lot of this album is ... read more
Swans Deep Dive #1 Man, this album was quite the wild trip, at times it was soft and melodic, then sometimes it was just a banger song, and at other times it became downright disgustingly horrifying. Beautiful Child has quite an ironic name since it might be one of the most fucked up songs I've ever listened to, It's almost too much to take in. I find this album to be kinda clouded in a veil of mystery, especially towards the end. Something about the last half of this album is just ... read more
Something about this album really clicked with me recently. This album has to have some of the my favorite soundscapes in all of music, every song here is gorgeous. Prince is an absolutely insane vocalist and and he never fails to deliver this powerful energy to every track. However, despite that, my favorite part of almost every song here is probably the production on this album. When Doves Cry and Purple Rain are easily 2 of my favorite pop songs of all time, I've known them since I ... read more
This album is absolutely legendary in every sense of the word. Not only is every song here sonically pleasing and memorable, this album has some of the greatest songs ever made. These songs are beautiful in every way imaginable. Even if this album clocks in at around an 1 hour and 30 minutes (excluding the extra songs) it never drags on or wastes any of your time, it doesn't feel even close to its actual length. There is a reason you haven't talked to anyone who thinks this album is ... read more
We did it boys, its on the all time charts! Maybe the most depressing song of all time, it just makes me feel absolutely powerless... 10/10 song will listen to it again
I would've never expected anything by Kanye to sound like this. Kanye is an amazing (kinda overrated though) artist as is and 808s & Heartbreak was always an album I felt was really underappreciated within his discography, obviously people appreciate the albums influence, but I don't think a lot of people actually give the quality of the album enough credit. This album adds to an album that I already considered great by giving every song here more power and feelings than their ... read more
Thanks to @ruberosie for recommending me this album. I really didn't know what to expect from this album, I've obviously seen lots of love for this album (ESPECCIALLY on this site), but I still wasn't sure whether it would be something I might like. Obviously, based on the score I gave it, I did enjoy it! I felt that this album perfectly expresses the feelings of somberness it tries to go for. You can feel the heartbreak and loss Will attempts to express, especially in the albums ... read more
