Listening in preparation of utopia.
Sicko mode is one of my favourite songs ever. But in terms of a whole project, a lot of the tracks aren't very standout and memorable. Which is an issue I have with a lot of trap music. And that goes for this as well, even though the execution is done very well.
Edit since I wrote this during the second to last track:
Coffee bean is fantastic. It's a lot more thematically focussed than the other tracks. Which just shows that he has the ability to create ... read more
Disc 2 leaves out the weaker songs from the original and adds 2 more great additions. The live instrumentals and guest vocals are amazing. Denzel's own singing could use some work. But besides that Im more than happy with this.

Decided to give it another shot today. Didn't expect it to shrunk on me, but it did. There are some fantastic tracks on here like Giorgo by Moroder or contact.
I find some of the material on here to be incredibly boring. It doesn't really help that I'm asexual and aromantic, so non of the lyrics on the love related tracks hit for me. I do realise that daft punk isn't about the lyrics. But if the music itself doesn't progress enough, it forces me to pay attention to it. "The ... read more
I hate to say it, but Im left disappointed. And I know exactly why I don't like it as much.
For an album like this to work, the lyrics need to REALLY hit. And they just don't for me. I can't personally relate to 90% of this albums content. Which is putting a barrier between me and liking the album. Because the lyrics don't hit for me a lot feels very stretched out and uninteresting. A 4min emotional song doesn't hit if the emotion isn't there.
Also not a big fan of the pitched vocals on a lot ... read more
I appreciate what ed is doing here. This shows a lot more personality than the past few albums. And I think he delivers on that fairly well on quite a few tracks.
But in the end, I don't have the patience to sit through 50min of this. In that aspect I don't think many songs are interesting enough. Would've liked him to keep it to 20-30min without the filler. But that's how you earn your money I guess.
Dusty is awful and end of youth is the best song.
Well, that's probably the longest album title I have seen.
While there are some nice tracks like: the tide, slipping into darkness and composure pt2. I do not think this album is very interesting, for hitboy's level, I dont think the beats are all that interesting. The lyrics are alright but nothing standout.
Just a very down the middle project to me.
Damn I kinda hate this.
There's no energy whatsoever in the vocals, the ad-libs are quite annoying. And the flow sounds very similar on every single track. I wouldn't be able to distinguish the tracks from each other just from her vocals. And the lyrics are a whole bunch of nothing.
The Nicki feature only confirms this to me. She has many more switchups in flow and vocal inflection. Which is a lot more interesting to listen to.
The I need a girl pt2 sample on gangsta boo is quite nice. And I ... read more
This was the first album I really fell in love with. So this will always have a special place for me.
Adele's vocals is what make her the icon she is. And I don't think this album utilizes them to their fullest potential.
In many songs like: river lea, love in the dark and sweetest devotion. I feel like the instrumental completely overpowers her voice. Im also not a fan of the background vocals in a bunch of songs.
That being said, million years ago is my favourite Adele song by quite a bit. I have none of the above issues with this song. Adele is very strong on the chorus. And the lyrics ... read more
This kinda slaps.
That's not something I thought I'd say after seeing the cover.
