What happened?
It seriously feels as though Post submitted this record with half baked ideas, phoned in generic trap songs, terrible singing at points, awful lyrics and choruses and an overall lazy slapped together feeling only to cash in and fill in the void of him not dropping for a few years.
Seriously, he had three whole years to work on this and comes out with a lazy sellout record filled with generic pop rap tracks and forgettable lazy features. It’ll likely be forgotten about ... read more
There’s something so elegant and refined about this track. The beat is very simple, yet pleasant. Logic flows for forever, but it never seems to get boring. He displays some impressive lyricism and flow and keeps the track interesting the entire near four minute runtime.
Wasn’t very impressed with the other singles but this song is hooking me in to this Vinyl Days era.
This song is so goddamn annoying. Like in every way possible this is obnoxious.
The bonus tracks are fine, though feel a bit derivative of the actual base record itself. Some very cool moments, but these tracks weren’t picked for the record for a good reason.
It’s Me Again - 7
Eaten Up Inside - 6.8
Le Petit Mort - 7.7 (Pretty good song)
Oh, and the remixes you could flush right down the toilet.
What an unexpected but incredibly good progression of sound from My Chem.
The hype is unreal.
Exactly everything you think it would sound like, it sounds like....except maybe ten million times worse because the singer is literally trapped in mid-2000’s butt rock in the year of 2022.
Every cliche in the book is here and it is cookie cutter as all hell.
Three days grace? More like three days disgrace.
DEFTONES | CHAPTER SIX
After a four year break, a scrapped album named Eros, and bassist Chi Cheng being absent due to a severe car crash in 2008 Deftones came out with their best album since 2003’s Self Titled in Diamond Eyes.
Despite some obvious low points, slightly weaker and certainly not great writing Deftones came back with a really good album that sort of feels like a good middle ground between the shoegazey delicate space of Saturday Night Wrist and the brutal heavyness of the ... read more
A complete insult to my favorite song ever.
Go die in a latte laden hipster death hole, Ass Bleach.
DEFTONES | CHAPTER FIVE
Welp, it took me a few tries but hey at least I think it’s a good album.
Yeah I’m gonna be straight with you guys this album is very uncoordinated and messy, with the hazier shoegazey sound making a lot of tracks feel sort of muddy and forgettable. I think it also tries to replicate a lot of previous ground they’ve touched upon, I’d say even more egregiously than supposedly Self Titled does, as the same sort of bending guitar note as Digital ... read more
The most unfortunate thing is you can tell his lyrics come from a genuine place..
But that does not stop a majority of them coming off as a little weird and whiny. There’s some banger lyrics in here like:
“I wish this beat hit harder
I wish more syllables rhymed
I know 99 percent of people really don't mind
I think collaborating forced me to finish things
'Cause I was terrified of wasting famous people's time”
Which don’t come off as whiny and dumb at all. But the ... read more
An incredibly emotional song, regardless of if you can relate to Phil's story or not. Emotionally potent and moving.
Once you’ve heard one song, you’ve heard em all.
Also nearly every single song begins with the song title screamed by Mula thirty trillion times.
Also mans should realllly stay off the lean cuz he’s now 50% drank
DEFTONES | CHAPTER FOUR
Deftones’ Self Titled is a wonderful experience. It seems to be a continuation of the sound of their last affair White Pony, but with more shoegaze and trip hop influence than that record. Per the usual, the instrumentals are all crunchy and heavy, with some nice technical ability blended in as well, Chino’s incredible vocals, which combine his angelic melodic singing, screeching, and crooning, and the lyrics are pretty damn good. A variety of topics are ... read more
Terrible artificial 70’s funk worship.
This (and I’m assuming the album it’s on) doesn’t deserve the Grammy.
This is fun. I’d find the lyrics stupid if this wasn’t such a fun song, combining some Primus and (maybe) Mindless Self Indulgence influence with their signature ska-y hyper pop sound and some heavier textures.
At worst this album will be boring, but at best this could be a very fun release.
I also appreciate the attempt to change their sound and the song being a little longer than their usual stuff gives it more of a chance to display the energy they have popping out.
Why does this legit sound like Simple Plan
also this guy sounds like Pauly Shore’s pinnochio lol
Also this guy is prolly like 30 and still in the scene lol
Back in the day on YouTube I used to watch this claymation music video for the game Portal and this would be playing over it, and man I always liked this song but now I see the true beauty in it.
Everything works perfectly, the vocals have this weird power over the song and the lush strings and repeating piano riff add so many layers to it. It kinda just makes me feel sad or isolated somewhat and I think that’s where it really starts to fit in to Portal (as it was made for the sequel). ... read more
