DEFTONES | CHAPTER TWO
Deftones’ Around The Fur is one of the band’s more celebrated albums in their catalogue with the iconic cover and the massive singles, but what do I think of it? Well, I’m not really a fan at all. I think this is more of the same from the last album with slightly better production and slightly more ambitious ideas. Strangely enough, it feels like White Pony lite, even if it came out before.
The thing is I think most of these tracks are solid, but as a ... read more
DEFTONES | CHAPTER ONE
In all shapes and regards, Deftones in this era, the young and hungry Deftones, has potential. There’s no denying that. They certainly were coming out of the gate with something that could’ve been as mind blowing as Korn’s first record (we’ll get back to them in a bit) but without refinement sort of feels underwhelming in the genre of Alt Metal. Thankfully, this is pre-bands ripping off Korn and creating a new genre, so Deftones doesn’t feel ... read more
I’m sorry but there’s a clear difference between this and Not Dead Yet and his prior music. A sense of passion and warmth and homeyness. This just..it just feels like he’s writing very vague lyrics now and this sound, at least before the drums kick in, is just not appealing to me. This is probably the most basic and generic song he’s crafted yet, and it’s very sad especially because me and a lot of other people have been waiting two years for an album named Dead ... read more
Despite how memed to death this song was, after awhile of not fully hearing it I’ve realized this is one of my favorite pop songs. Very nice indie tune with an insanely catchy chorus, a surprisingly darkly well written message and verses just as good as the chorus.
So I stumbled upon this after looking at the related artists/similar artists page of Gel., my music project, and I have to say, Bip Ling, you have successfully made the worst album I’ve ever heard, bar none. Nothing comes close to this. Not even laughably bad. Just annoyingly irritating musical experiments that thankfully only last a minute a piece.
At least, knowing that she is a model, she’s not trying to make awful terrible pop music, but is instead making bottom of the barrel ... read more
Despite Jonathan being strangely buried in the track and the riff not sounding entirely new by Korn standards, this is a pretty damn good new single that does feel like somewhat of a new direction. It kinda reminds me of The Nothing, and that’s not the most favorable comparison, but it all the tracks are like this, Requiem will be their best album since The Paradigm Shift.
Catchy hook, great lyrics, nice pretty issues-y/SYOTOS-y type instrumental. Can’t complain. Did take me a few ... read more
KOЯN | BONUS CHAPTER
The fabled debut studio album by Korn frontman Jonathan Davis actually wasn’t brand new when it was released. In fact, this album began in 2008, when Jonathan was touring and doing live albums with his solo band, Jonathan Davis & The SFA (Simply Fuckin’ Amazings). The reason why it took that long? Well maybe because after 2010 it seemed Jonathan was somewhat done with his solo run and focused very primarily on his Korn efforts. And while listening to this ... read more
KOЯN | CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Sadly and unfortunately, what could’ve been a great modern day successor to Issues winds up feeling kinda boring and uninteresting for a big margin of its run time, despite being fairly varied compared to the last album. The first 3 tracks are pretty nice and feel very Issues-like, but I’d say after You’ll Never Find Me it turns into a slog of VERY familiar riffs and drum patterns, and a semi absence of Fieldy’s signature bass tone. Like I ... read more

There is nothing I could say for this record that I haven’t already said about Take A Look In The Mirror or Korn 3.

Ignore the douche above me. This is their heaviest record since Untouchables and has back to back incredibly catchy choruses. Maybe it does fall off at the end with some less than memorable tracks, but in turn it also has some of their best in ages like Rotting In Vain and Black Is The Soul. Even the Thoughtless-plagiarizing closer Please ... read more
KOЯN | CHAPTER ELEVEN
Despite the first listen being less than stellar, and me at the beginning thinking this was a poor rehash of the other 10 records, subsequent listens revealed that this is the closest they’ve ever come to that original Follow The Leader/Issues/Untouchables sound, maybe due in part to previous guitarist Head rejoining after quitting 9 years prior. I just feel a new freshness in the band that spreads across all these tracks, regardless of whether I even like all of ... read more
KOЯN | CHAPTER TEN
After a short break of roughly a year or so of touring on their last album, Korn return with their second album on Roadrunnner, a label most known for Slipknot. This album is different for plenty of reasons. For one it has many producers (those being the featured artists) instead of one set producer like most of their records prior, and the most producers they’d had on an album would be 2005’s See You On The Other Side which had Nine Inch Nails’ Atticus ... read more
Wouldn’t review this if it didn’t keep coming up in my recommended.
Yeah this song is pretty awful. The beat is very basic, the vocals and that bad talk box on the chorus are grating and worst of all it’s painfully unfunny, which is what a comedy song shouldn’t be.
Animation on music video is good, but it’s a cringey video in its concept.
Stop recommending me this, YouTube.
