a beautiful, abstract, and distraught culmination of events and fascinations in a troubled mind. soulful and crushing, and another reaffirmation as to why jazz rap is the best subgenre to emerge in more recent decades.
thoroughly enjoyed all the deluxe, even "this song is a safe space". dunno why that's rated so low.
blood should be rated higher than 93, an emotional powerhouse of a song
to the review: this album is incredibly cohesive. to the palette of instrumentation used, the deliveries and features that simz draws from, and even the song titles (one word, each a symbolism of what makes her up). although lotus isn't as grandoise as simbi, it's not supposed to be. it's supposed to be more intimate and more personal. hence the album name being lotus, a symbolism for growth, fragility, and ... read more
aoty gives some of the best underground music ever. introduces me to a lot of new stuff, most of which i like. when i saw this first pop up in the front page, my expectations were high. but this album blew them out of the water. amazing production from front to end, and michel pulls off amazing performances throughout.
middle drags on a lot, but the front and back end of this album are explosive. has a lot of influences ranging from bjork to bjork to miley cyrus, but she puts her own spin on it quite well, despite some shortcomings
redux review: i didn't like how i gave it a 0 the first time after listening to it. i just don't like howw mediocre and one-note this entire album is. it's a sludgefest to get through, and what does it even culminate to at the end of the album?
woah seeing this on aoty gave me a nostalgia surge. never expected to see this here but really glad it did. such an amazing, pure, and soulful song. rest in peace israel kamakawiwo'ole. happy to see people share the same feelings i do about this song
really fun pop record. you could definitely see that their production game really took off with mercurial world. mica's vocals are the centerpiece of this album.
I think something went wrong with the mixing. it could’ve been more powerful I see the potential in this song
