The Lonesome Crowded West is not only one of the greatest emo albums of all time, but one of the greatest indie albums of all time. It may seem like hyperbole because in all reality, this doesn't change the formula too much from their debut album. What it does, however, is build off of it and add even more of what made that debut so good to make an album that clicked with me INSTANTLY on first listen, captured my attention, and never let go. This album is about not willing to accept the change ... read more

After a 7 year absence studio material following 2013’s bland Comedown Machine, the band come back with The New Abnormal, the best album they’ve put out in literal years. With this project, the band surprises us with fresh takes on what was on Angles and some of Comedown Machine and makes an entirely new sound off of it, combined with influences from that time. It’s legitimately impressive how well this worked, since they haven’t created an album this great since their ... read more

The Strokes fall into a slump, an exceedingly average record with songs that feel superfluously toned down compared to their normal work. A disappointment.

Angles sees the band going for a new wave and power pop direction, and while it isn’t gamechanging, it’s enough of a change to make it stand out among their discography. It’s pretty colorful and has decent songs, but going for a sound like this doesn’t help open new opportunities like with the garage-rock revival sound of Is This It, so that’s why it doesn’t work as well. It’s still a good effort that’s well made for passing time.

I want to like this album, but honestly, it went in through one ear and out the other. Not really too many highlights here like on their previous albums, or ways that it really stood out compared to them. I guess it can still be enjoyable to the right listener and maybe it needs to grow on me, but for now, this is certainly one of the most forgettable Strokes albums.

It may be "Is This It 2", but it has my absolute favorite Strokes songs. Also, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hey I just wanted to let you know that my list aggregating AOTY's favorite albums of the year 1970 is finally live, and that you are included in it!

This was a very big project that would not have been able to be completed without your ratings and I hope to continue this series with future installments!

If you would be so kind as to check the list out and even possibly give me any feedback at all it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

What is your favorite album of the year 1970, and could I get a few words on your thoughts on that album!?

{I’m going to be doing a series of lists where I go through AOTYs favorite albums of every year since 1970 and this is the first part of that ultimate goal!!}

Hi there! I accidentally deleted my Fetch the Bolt Cutters review (instead of 'editing' it) and I'm quite pleased with it, would you mind giving it another look? I don't expect a like, just a read my friend!
