Although, The Divine Comedy does play homage to the Baroque Pop style influenced mainly by Scott Walker and the similarities are there for me the band has always managed to stand on their own two feets and A Short Album About Love shows that. As the name suggest, the album is a dense little album surrounding topics of love and romance with a lush orchestral soundscape which comes nicely with the passionate lyrics and singing.

Liz Phair most iconic work, Exile in Guyville is a classic Lo-Fi indie rock album filled with some impressive lyrics and songwriting which sees a beautiful utilization of lo-fi production to highlight her vocal and lyrical content for a deadpan sacrastic and at times vulgar album filled with nothing but bitter sweetness and apathetic moods.

Incubus' explosive album onto the mainstream with singles like Drive, Pardon Me, Stellar there are a lot of great and even classic cuts on this record but as a whole there many depper cuts which don't add much to the overall experience and feels like watered down alternative rock from the 90's thus it comes out just not as consistent nor as good as S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Has it's moments but as an album just doesn't quite stand up

A solid strong 2000's hip hop record with it focus more on throwing back to the sounds of 90's hip hop with better production and it works well especially on tracks like Freedom, What's Golden and Thin Line for catchy tunes filled with great lyrical content and although some of the deeper cuts haven't aged as well as other hip hop records in the early 2000's it is still a testament and a appraisal of more old school hip hop.

Allegaeon returns with there first album of the 2020's, DAMNUM, a more melodic side of their technical death metal sound with a strong emphasis on progressive metal, with complex riffs and technical drumming all coming together for a manic listen filled with aggression and passion and although on the technical side this album is great it doesn't necessary equate to a memorable album, it has it's moments of just embracing and striding within its chaos but i find it often gets lost it in and by ... read more
After 7 years, Shape of Despair finally returns with Return to the Void. Continuing their depressive and atmospheric Funeral Doom Metal sound, the Finland bands shows why they are one of the better bands in the genre and why they are in the dicussion when mentioning this more obscure metal genre to the more ethereal dense soundscape which slowly pummels you down into darkness and the more melancholy lyrics and vocals for an emotional listen with it all coming together for an intense listen ... read more
For me, this is easily Conway the Machine's best body of work so far, with some more simpler but effective production which allows the lyrical content of this album to shine throughout which is easily the album biggest strength, containing an introspcetive view of urban and criminal life makes for some of his best lyrics and with a strong showing by all the features makes for a catchy but yet both depressive and griity of a listen and showcase why Conway deserves to be always mentioned when ... read more
One of Rufus Wainwright's better projects, Want One sees strong ties to the more traditional pop sound with its focus on chamber baroque pop and its longing and sentimental lyrics and more lush filled atmosphere for some powerful and bittersweet moments. The Coral debut still stands as a classic 2000's indie rock release both for the mainstream with the hit song of Dreaming of You which I can't deny is overplayed and i do wish more people delve a bit more into their catalog but the deeper cuts and more overlooked songs being great. With it psychedelic filled soundscape to create a playful release filled with so much energy, it is clear that The Coral knew how to make good catchy indie rock from the get go and help popularize the genre.

Honestly, it is a shame that American Water is such widely beloved and well known within the music community that Silver Jews next project often gets overlooked due to it but Birght Flight sees the band go into a more Alt-Country and lyrically focused sound allowing Stephen Malkmus songwriting abilities to shine completely through with some emotional and powerful lyricism and imagery.

Although not her best album, Under Construction still stands as a solid record for Missy Elliott with some great ideas and brings a lot of interesting ideas on paper and within her lyrics for quite a boastful and charismatic record filled with good songs, good features everything for a good hip hop record but often there isn't much to delve deeper into the music and thus not much replay-ability to it all.

20 minutes of brutal, noisy and hateful electro industrial which sees Black Dresses fuse elements of Power Noise, Glitch Pop and Synth Punk for some of their most hard hitting and head smashing songs to date and although it's not my favorite by them it still stands as a strong collection of short snappy and impactful tracks.

Immolation may be entering the late stage of their career but the still managed to bring a great modern death metal record in 2022 with Acts of God. Although, it does pay huge respect to the 90's death metal and Immolation prime, they manage to modernized the sound enough so it doesn't become redundant. It doesn't necessary top any of Arctic Monkeys best work but Alex Turner and Miles Kane bring some of the best of each other out for some chamber pop inspired indie rock filled with clever lyrics filled with this lush atmosphere and honestly Alex Turner really brings the best out of Miles Kane. Justice's debut, "Cross", manages to make both an accessible but yet beautifully constructed Electro-House record with the addition of rock centered production which comes in elements of electro-industrial and NU-Disco for an upbeat, energetic catchy listen but one which you can both digest and dissect all of it's samples, noise and instrumentals to see how amazing the cogs in this album fit and work together but it achieves it main goal and that's to be rollercoaster of fun and ... read more
One of Beck's more overlooked albums, especially when talking about their discography as a whole and I see why as it sees the band more towards a more pop oriented soundand many would argue the weaker era of Beck but for me, I love this change of sound from the folk driven Sea Change, with strong emphasis on Trip Hop makes for some catchy, mellow and warm music with strong instrumentations and an overall interesting sound which pulls you in, Guero is an interesting and dynamic shift for ... read more
M.I.A.'s debut album still stands as one of the most interesting and forward thinking UK hip hop albums with it's fusion of electropop, dancehall and funk and it's strong political message, Arular, is simply a powerhouse of an album filled with so many interesting sounds, ideas and lyrics all coming together for such a unique listen which no one has been able to come close to, for me she will further refine the sound more on Kala but that takes nothing away from this record

This is easily one of Morrissey's best solo projects to this date and one where he boths pushes himself but yet comes out off quite self-righteous and indulgent and that weird mix makes for some entertaining music. You Are the Quarry is a melodic and "sarcastic" view of the UK politics at the time which I'm not going into but Irish Blood, English Heart makes it quite clear. However, I can't deny the music is well thought out, compelling and a very good listen
