After a bit of deep in quality in 1981 with Almost Blue, Elvis Costello quickly turns it around with Imperial Bedroom, which sees a more focus on his songwriting and lyricisms then any of his previous attempts making it one of the more thought provoking albums in his career. Alongside some interesting sounds and ideas bursting out of this record it makes for quite an intriguing listen and one which has a lot to unpack. The main problem is simply the long tracklist and although not necessary his ... read more

Dexys Midnight Runners' debut album, Searching For The Young Soul Rebels, is a lovely fusion of Blue-Eyed Soul with the upcoming new wave sound for an unique listen one which makes its bitter-sweetness with its boastful and energetic sound which is so lush but the power of this debut is within the lyrics and the passion behind the album creating such an impactful album namely on tracks like Geno. Filled with mostly filler, Stripped one of Christina Aguilera most known album is one which suffers from being nothing but safe 2000's contemporary R&B whilst not pushing much for the genre. There are some good songs here and there but the album has no focus, other artists simply did this sound better and in more interesting ways, seriously the spanish influence on this record adds nothing. I will stick with the singles and some songs but return to this album has a whole is simply a bit of ... read more

Billy Bragg at some, if not, his best work. Talking with the Taxman about Poetry is a testament to Mr.Bragg's amazing songwriting skills with ppowerful and impactful lyrics which are still to this day political charged and alongside the folk rock soundscape makes for good sound for one whcih stands and protest with its energy and at times sarcastic humor. It's a conscious and lovable album filled with many great and quotable lines and

Before the Bee Gees took their dive into disco, they were much like many other bands early in their career in the late 60's were a pop rock group and the Bee Gees had a more baroque pop focus sound with their double LP, Odessa, which sadly gets quite overlooked due to their later career sound as this is a very good warming lush experience, with most of the songs have a compelling structure and story for a well rounded listen.

One of Barry Adamson's most recognizable albums and a solid acid jazz album which fuses genres of the 90's such as industrial, trip hop and dark jazz for a nice fusion which comes with its ominous and mysterious sound wrapped in a sense of anxiety which gives this album alot of edge of some of his other work and although some deeper cuts on this album don't add much. The atmosphere is does build it's surreal and done great for quite an engaging listen just wish it was more streamlined.

Honestly, Aerosmith at their best and most consistent, Rocks, is a 9 track 70's hard rock classic filled with amazing catchy songs from Back in the Saddle and Rats in the Cellar and was influential for the making of Glam Rock. Echo & The Bunnymen's debut, Crocodiles, might not be the most intentive or best post-punk album even during it's early inception or in their discography but it remains a consistent release filled with a more neo-psychedelia influence making it a more energtic and psychedelic feeling and another than anxious feeling of post-punk is presence it is more of one which comes with warmth

Although, it is the weakest album Florence + the Machine has put out, High as Hope is still a very good record filled with many highs but often feels less memorable and plays it generally more safe then their previous attempts. I do love how the album let's Florence Welch's vocal take a more center stage showing how powerful her vocals are and how introspective her lyrics can be but often can fall behind with a safer soundscape to back it up and thus the album because simply less dynamic of a ... read more

The Who take a more experimental approach to The Who Sells Out, creating one of the most well known albums from the sub genre of Mod, Freakbeat. Fusing elements of the rising psychedelic scene in the 60's to their music creates for some of their most playful, satiricial and often just crazy music which both intriguing and yet often feels rigid. It is an important record for them because it showed the world how willing they were to experiment outside of their established sound with My Generation ... read more
Charli XCX lets the deconstructed club / bubblegum bass sound which dominated her last 2 records take a bit more of a step back and let's the 80's synth pop disco craze which has been mainstream (The Weeknd or Dua Lipa for example) for a while take a center stage with her music. Although she still makes good catchy tunes, the record is simply put, safe which i can't help but feel a bit disappointed given her previous effort being simply put utterly creative, it seems almost night and day to how ... read more
Charli's self titled album amazes me for one major reason and that is perfect mix of being able to make a mainstream sounding, catchy album filled with unconventional sounds and style and the pure amount of experimentation for a pop record here is simply great and makes for an intentive and engaging listen and although i think, the record is quite front heavy and the second half loses steam, there is nothing short of some of Charlie XCX's most catchy, upbeat and energetic work on here.

For me, Mirage is easily the most overlooked Fleetwood Mac album and mainly due to the fact by this time the New Wave genre was sweeping across the world with a lot of new ideas and sound and thus 80's Fleetwood Mac can't overshadow by this competition but i would argue this album stands on its own and shines throughout with tracks like Gypsy, Hold Me and That's Alright, there is a lot of deeper discography cuts which are gems. Following the same pop rock formula they have establish since the ... read more
