In my endless search for more music like Kasbo or ODESZA, I came across this album (mostly thanks to Kasbo being involved in the title track) and I gotta say, this scratches the itch fairly well! I wouldn't say it's incredibly amazing, as some of the ideas leave a lot to desire, and it doesn't hit the mark with every song, but this provides a fairly good prog house experience that scratches that Kasbo itch I'm looking for well, and has some definite care put into it. Nice album, but could've ... read more
This album review is gonna be a little different, cause to be frankly honest, I'm not really sure I can put each song's thoughts into pieces here. This album feels like a dream, a soft petal floating in the sky, or like a cloud flying peacefully through the air. On the day that I chose to listen to this, I wasn't having a very good day, and feeling down on myself. Despite that, I felt like perhaps this was the right time to listen to this album, and it absolutely was. The soft melodies and ... read more
This is a pretty whatever album honestly. Feels like ShockOne slapped a bunch of unrelated songs together into a collection, and only the new singles really feel like they have some semblance of an album feeling. That being said, it does have some great older picks (It's All Over specifically) and has a couple highlights. Whatever album overall.

As a disclaimer, it's important to understand that I have heard Laufey before this, as I listened to Bewitched first. From the beginning, it's clear that this album was a first for Laufey, really trying to hit her stride. However, in my opinion, she absolutely knocked it out of the park with her wonderfully fresh hopeless romantic jazzy style, and this album was an absolutely wonderful to listen to! The use of Cello (which I'm partial to as a Cello player) and other instruments is done ... read more
Frankly, this is the type of album that is a truly once in a lifetime experience. I've never really heard many things quite like this before, as someone who listens to music that falls more into the 3-5 minute range, occasionally stepping into the 10-11 minute range at most. That being said, I'm absolutely blown away at the mastery of being able to take such long runtimes of music, and twist it into something that consistently stays engaging, fun to listen to, and most of all, makes me want to ... read more
What a massive disappointment this album was for me. I heard Constant Repeat and Baby before this, which I found really good, so I decided to listen to this! But what I ended up with was just some chill or weird pop songs that always felt like something was off on just about every single one of them. A couple of them had some really irritating autotune too, which hurt the experience even for me, and to top it all of I just don't really find much of it very catchy either. It has some highlights ... read more
Absolutely beautiful stuff here, this album surprised me in a really strong way with just how striking and unique the instrumentation was throughout, especially the sound design being so pretty yet funky yet sad yet every emotion really. To be honest, I'm unsure really how to put into words why this album works so well, it just really does. Crumbling Together specifically is a highlight, being a perfect example of how to utilize a full 9+ minute runtime, but really every song on this album ... read more
I really wanna love this album, and there's so much to love here so in a lot of ways I do, but it also feels a bit like some songs are lacking things. A lot of songs on this end abruptly, or feel like they could be given an extra verse or chorus to really fill out the song, but that's not to say this is a bad album! It has a lot of pretty songs, pretty vocal work, and some great songwriting on certain songs (especially ceilings and erase me, which are the best one here), but I find myself ... read more
Folklore is a project that I can really understand the appeal for. It's got great songwriting, pretty instrumentation, and a good enough amount of variety to keep it fairly interesting throughout. The problem for me lies with the melodies and style that Taylor Swift has. While I do not find it particularly bad, and there's nothing really directly wrong with it, the feelings that I feel like this album are trying to invoke in me just aren't there. I find a lot of the songs, especially in the ... read more
This is a pretty intriguing album, featuring a lot of very harsh atmosphere and harsh tones in its trap/DnB drops, and I can really appreciate it for sticking with that and following through with a lot. The album starts off really strong at its beginning with some great tracks and cool variety, but I think by the end it starts to lose its luster a bit and tries some weirder ideas or sticks to the usual basic trap ideas. Not a bad album by any means, and definitely has solid atmosphere, but the ... read more
I've been trying so hard to become more of an Apashe fan, and there are some truly big heavy hitters on this album that really stick out here, but I cannot find myself being able to get into it at all in most of the tracks. Nearly every track here is hurt by really weird production decisions or crappy bass house, or hurt by some pretty terrible vocal work. In the few moments when the songs aren't hurt by either, it's when the album is focused on the orchestral elements. That's when this album ... read more
A pretty fun listen compared to the original, as a full re-imagining of the original album it takes a lot of tracks in a lot of fun directions and I found myself liking even some tracks I wasn't a huge fan of in the original! Not every remix works perfectly, and some tracks don't feel quite as good (primarily Our Time, though im still a huge fan of that beatdrop) but a lot more saves from me here vs the original! I do feel though that to some extent, this reimagining loses some of the identity ... read more
This album is very... aggressively fine. I learned of bo en through Omori with My Time, but decided to give the whole album a shot. I feel like it has some fun weird ideas that make this stick out, and has a very cheesy vibe with some fun production, but just doesn't stick the landing on most of its tracks for me. I don't really have a whole lot to say beyond that.

(NOTE: I am re-reviewing this album with the new song "Childs Play", which replaces Someday due to copyright issues with samples on the song. Childs Play was released on the Deluxe version of the album, but I re-listened to that version in place of the original as a result. I had originally reviewed this album at a 90, but this is a new review for it)

What a feeling this album has! This gives off such a sweet loving vibe while having lots of variety in its moods throughout the album, and while not every feeling meshes well with me (the middle especially is a bit lacking compared to the rest of the album) its such a sweet album to listen to. I can't say I was really disliking any part of this directly, and the worst on it is just more forgettable at worst. The best on this album are songs I will treasure forever, and Madison Beer has so much ... read more
There's nothing particularly *awful* about this album. It's perfectly serviceable, it does what it sets out to do, and it does it perfectly fine. It just feels distinctly *lacking* in nearly every aspect. Through the constant house beats that feel really lacking in variety or interest, to the consistent feel of the songs, nothing really stands out in my opinion beyond the first 2 tracks, which I think do best what this album tries to do in the following 10 tracks. I was really looking forward ... read more
This album is truly... something. It's really, REALLY well produced and has so many ideas on display, but despite how many different ideas there are, everything feels so much like Vorso, to the point where by the end of the album I felt sick of hearing the style. I think this album would've benefitted a lot from cutting out some of the tracks that feel more "filler-y", and really pushing more into the DnB (where I think this album shines the greatest) and just giving each individual ... read more
This album is a real joy to listen to from start to finish! It sticks onto a really nice sweet vibe that I find myself feeling like I'm floating on a sweet cloud, and that's a great feeling :) I do think the album doesn't have a lot of huge standouts to me, which brings it down for me a little bit, and it's not quite my thing in every aspect, but it knows what it wants to do, and it succeeds really well at doing just that. An overall great album, and I had a wonderful time listening to it! ... read more
I'm fairly surprised at how much I... don't dislike this? It's not a great album by any means, and I don't find myself clamoring to return to any specific track, but I can appreciate the variety on display here, and it feels like Oolacile had a fun time with this one. Not amazing, but not bad!
