Man, I just listened to Billie and now I'm hearing EVEN MORE PEAK??? I've never really heard of Beth Gibbons before this album, but I am absolutely SHOCKED by the sheer mastery on display in terms of instrumentation on this album. Don't get me wrong, the melodies are wonderful, the vocals are gorgeous, and the whole album paints a world and feeling in a way not many albums do. But the INSTRUMENTATION on display here is just incredible. It's perfectly recorded, perfectly mixed, and as someone ... read more
This is my first time hearing a Billie Eilish record in full, and WHAT A FREAKING ALBUM THIS WAS!!!! This album is SO incredibly consistent, I genuinely found myself in awe over the sheer perfection and mastery on display in billie's vocals, as well as FINNEAS's production. I've heard a few Billie songs before in the past, and I've always thought they were nice and pretty.
With that being said, THIS. THIS IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL. Every song on here features some of the most stunning vocals I've ... read more
Listening to this album again immediately after hearing Pt. 1, I find these 2 albums to work shockingly well side by side! Pt. 1 is a lot more of an amateur style, with worse and weirder production, but with a lot more fun ideas and experimentation on it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but its undeniably fun! This album on the other hand takes a lot less risks, instead honing in on the funky synthy style that Haywyre is known for today. It might not have as high of highs, but it ... read more
While this album may not wow me super hard these days, I hold a lot of respect for it even today, a whole 10 years after it came out, it still holds up SHOCKINGLY well, especially compared to Monstercat songs from the same era. There's a ton of super well made glitch hop here, and a surprising number of wacky fun ideas, and it really feels like Haywyre had a lot of fun here! Not all of these ideas hit of course, but at worst this album is just a bit overdone with some of its ideas, and at best ... read more
Similar to ShockOne's album "Organism Algorithm", this album is a big mixed bag of whatever ideas. Nothing hits strongly enough for me to adore it, and while it does have some positive moments that end up being my favorites, they're dragged down by crappy ideas, and the absolutely atrocious "f_ck you" which is not at one point funny. Just a big collection of weird singles, where it feels a bit like Eliminate tried, but not enough.

While this album may be somewhat lacking in variety sound wise, it more than makes up for it with some of the best theming, if not the best theming I've ever heard on an EDM album. The best songs on this album hit like an absolute truck, with some amazing styles and ideas on display on the drops, but far and away the best part of this album is how well it sticks to the mechanical factory theming, and just well how it nails it. Xilent had a clear vision for this album, and he achieved it ... read more
This is an album that has stuck strongly with me for a long time, and has always been one I've loved. I've written many reviews for it, and shaken up my thoughts on it quite often, but this time I want to write a proper review just to showcase how much this album means to me. IMANU is an artist I started loving around this albums single release period, and every single here just managed to wow me every time. When the album released, I was adoring EDM, adoring DnB, and this album was everything ... read more
This album is patient, drawn out, and takes its time in every single moment, but I have to say with absolute certainty that I was hooked from start to finish, reeling in the pure atmosphere this album holds. The use of the organ, chanting vocals, and incredible guitar work kinda reminds me of Dune in a lot of ways, with a massively grand scale that almost feels too big for it, but still nails the nonetheless.
The absolute masterclass on this song though is Ugly and Vengeful. Not that anything ... read more
I cannot in good faith put this album on a low score, despite the fact that it really just has not aged well in the slightest. There is a constant amount of really poorly produced EDM of its time, with some truly terrible mixing to boot (most of the time the violin straight up sounds crunchy and processed, which is NOT GOOD for a violin based album) but at the same time, this is the strongest amount of nostalgia I hold for an album. It's aged poorly, Lindsey has improved on this 100x over, but ... read more
This album is pretty, that cannot be denied, with the songs all being quite well sung, and it having a pretty vibe throughout. That being said, I honestly just don't feel like this album hooked me in the same way that artists like Lizzy McAlpine or Clairo have. I know that artists like them perhaps take lots of inspiration *from* Phoebe, but to me it feels like they iterated on it in more interesting ways. Not to say this album is bad, but I found it to be kind of boring at worst, with only a ... read more
Really went into this expecting it to be a lot more mid on a re-listen, but while it's certainly not the most ground-breaking EDM I've heard, this has a lot of heart and effort put into it, and ends up being a collection of easily SLUMBERJACK's best work across their entire career. There's songs with some genuinely great sound design such as Excalibur and Arc Second and And I, catchy pop-infused songs like Poision and Not For You, and even some more strange ones that still work like Pain. ... read more
This album is so laughably bad these days, it has not aged well in the slightest. I honestly still have plenty of Snavs songs I enjoy, but considering I only had 4 saves on here in the past, that's now changed to a whole 2 saves, and I find the album as a whole to be extremely lacking. Everything here is missing the impact I thought it once had, or fails to work with its ideas, and none of it has any cohesion to boot. A weird collection of singles where none of them really hit the mark in any ... read more
To be completely honest, there's not a whole lot I have to say about this album. It's pretty consistently enjoyable throughout, without any real big low points, though in the same way, lacking in a lot of really high highs for me. It's a consistently "good" album, that I find plenty of enjoyment in, with consistently solid instrumentals, and for the most part solid vocal work too. This isn't a super huge standout album for me, but it's one I enjoyed from start to finish.

My feelings on this album are so massively conflicted... It's an album that feels lacking in any amount of cohesion or theming, constantly switching between sounds and styles, a lot more like a mixtape than an album. As a result of that though, the album feels like it lacks in so much, with songs like Lemon Nades and Undercover sticking out like a sore thumb amongst the cheery dreamy melodic songs. There's so many songs here that lack in any interesting elements, or just feel a bit repetitive, ... read more
I was really obsessed with this album around when it came out in 2020, but in revisiting it in 2024, I find it to be kind of lacking. It's a summer-y feel good album with very few standout tracks, and a lot of tracks that kinda blend together into one experience. I can appreciate it being that, but it also means that I don't really think anything on here is super... interesting beyond being catchy. There's also a lot of filler tracks in the middle that drag down the pacing, and I feel like the ... read more
I can't say I disliked this album by any means, as there is a lot of creativity and unique efforts on display here, but I was left a little underwhelmed. While there's a lot of jazz-y stuff, a lot of it is a little undercooked and directionless at times, with a lot of short songs that feel a little jam packed in there for no reason. I wish Willow would expand out her tracks a little more, as she has a ton of talent for making great stuff, as is seen in the VERY big highlights of this album. ... read more
This is really pleasing album to hear from start to finish! It nails the late night drive aspect really well, and while there's not a lot of songs that stick out to me super greatly (and imo it kinda fumbles in the last 2 songs) it's still really pleasing to hear from start to finish. Great album!

As with most Ichiko Aoba pieces, this is serene, beautiful, and really feels like you are floating on a peaceful cloud. I'm a newer Ichiko fan, having only heard 0 and some songs from this before listening to this, but I can safely say she knocked it out of the park here. Compared to 0, this has a lot more production around it, going for less of an "emotional closeness" acostic vibe and more of a peaceful serene vibe with more sounds and production around the songs. Both work really ... read more
Ok, it's important to understand that I adore plastic death, and it's what got me into this band in the first place, so I'm gonna end up comparing it to that a lot. With that being said, I just don't really see the hype around this one. In my opinion, the sound and instrumentation here just isn't very up to par when compared to plastic death, and a lot of the melodies just do not really hit, or feel a little too happy and cheesy for my personal tastes. I also think the whole structure of this ... read more
This album is criminally underrated and I'll stand by that. It might not be the most cleanly put together album, is a bit short, and definitely lacks a lot of cohesion, it really does feel like every song here (minus Brain Damage) had a lot of effort and thought put into them. I was going into relistening to this expecting to find it to not have aged very well and be lackluster, but instead I found an album that has a lot of care and heart put into it, with a lot of cool ideas and sounds, and a ... read more
