Its more of the same from Lost In The Dream
But I find myself preferring this one
Favorite Tracks: Pain, Holding On, Thinking Of A Place
Least Favorite: Knocked Down, In Chains
This may be the best Thee Oh Sees release to date. I've noticed a trend in their releases where songs will start strong but taper off leaving the ending of the album weak. But not on Orc, this album starts admittedly with this weakest song but then builds and ends strong.
Favorite Tracks: Nite Expo, Animated Violence, Jettisoned
Least Favorite: The Static God, Cooling Tower
A lazy song even by pop standards, Taylor Swift isn't invested in the, the beat doesn't go anywhere or change, and the lyrics are trivializing suicide in an attemt to make her sound deeper than she is.
This song is trash, and its going to be a massive hit.
The singles do this album no justice. While nowhere near the quality of ...Like Clockwork, this album is clearly on the level of Rated R or Songs For The Deaf. Its a well made and catchy album that with time will only grow on me as time goes on.
Favorite Songs: Feet Dont Fail Me, The Way You Used To Do, Domesticated Animals
Least Favorite: Fortress, Un-Reborn Again
After the outrageous Murder of the Universe and inventive Microtonal Banana. I cant help but feel like this falls short of the mark they were going for. Ill have to listen a little more to get a better feel for the album
Edit: The album didnt take too long to grow on me. This feels like a much more fleshed out version of Quarters, groovy album with some excellent songs.
Favorite Tracks: Tezeta, The Spider and Me, The Book
Least Favorite: A Journey to (S)hell
This album shouldn't be this good, it shouldn't work on any level. And yet, it just does.
Favorite Tracks: Houmous, Opus Brain, Cheval
Least Favorite: Problem d'emotion, Spaghetti Forever
This album grew on me for sure. Around the 3rd listen it clicked and I can honestly say I get it. It's a very varied album and their limited use of guitar is admirable.
Favorite Tracks: Rain In Soho, Andrew Eldrich Is Moving Back To Leeds, The Grey King And The Silver Flame Attunment
Edit: 3yrs later and the album has kept growing, its become a staple of my everyday listening and the first 7 tracks are basically a perfect stretch of songs, I can't not up this rating to a 100.
A solid album, catchy as all hell and a fun listen. I do find myself coming back to only a few tracks rather than the entire album though.
Favorite Tracks: Stupid In Love, Million Enemies, Daisy
Least Favorite: No Shade, Come To The Valley, Animal
I wanted to love and cherish this album. I recognize the amazing lyricism and production. But my biggest issue isn't the music itself, it might be repetitive and samey throughout the entire album. But its the tone, the tone of the album never changes. Even some of my favorite sad albums have their ups and downs. With this however, from the very second he starts the album its "you have to be sad, always sad, sad forever." Then carries that until the end of this album.

My first listen gave me the most engaging and interesting album from this band since The Satanic Satanist.
Upon further listens I found this album to be unfocused and annoying at times. I do enjoy Portugal. The Man's early work, but they havent evolved in the right way and it shows with this album
Favorite Tracks: Number One, Live In The Moment, Feel It Still
Least Favorite: Easy Tiger, Rich Friends
It's rare I find a Hip-Hop album I enjoy to this level. But I can greatly appreciate the excellent vocal work and production on this album on the level of it being top 10 of the year for sure
Favorite Tracks: Love Can Be..., Yeah Right
Least Favorite: Big Fish, 745
While the album is great for a listen, I find myself forgetting songs as soon as they end and unwilling to go back for another listen.
This might be the worst thing I've heard in a long time. Cannot think of a single redeeming feature.
Edit:
Oh, he died? Still a terrible album
Given the amount of tracks and the length of them I was a little worried about the overall quality of the album. But King Gizzard has proved again and again that they can and will top their previous albums. This is the sequel to Nonagon Infinity we all wanted and (as far as I know) wanted this to be.
I will subtract points for the amount of songs alone. A lot could have been turned into one long song, but that's the only complaint I have upon first listens
Favorite Tracks: Altered Beast II, ... read more
What a major let down. It doesn't so much feel like an At The Drive-In album so much as B-Sides of The Mars Volta in a vague ATDI style. Song seem to lack the variety of their older music and songs seem to have one single tempo and stick with it. Its a boring album yeah, but as a positive its new music from ATDI and it might show some promise for the future.
Favorite Track: Governed By Contagions
Least Favorite: Tilting At The Univendor
