As my first Mac DeMarco album, color me impressed. This album is chill with some excellent vibes of Bob Dylan going on. Some excellent instrumentals (especially with the synths) and vocal work. I can imagine playing this late at night, driving alone, with the windows down, while taking the back roads.
Favorite Songs: Baby You're Out, One Another, Still Beating, A Wolf Who Wears Sheeps Clothes
Least Favorite: This Old Dog, Watching Him Fade Away
The low scores for this album perplex me. Its a fantastic album that feels like a cleaner +-, using shorter track lengths and smoother transitions. Mew have a very distinct sound as it is. So exploration into new sounds is minimal but still noticeable with their use of heavier riffs (Candy Pieces All Smeared Up) and Saxophone (Twist Quest). I think their ability to perfect their own sound and create a very clean and easy record to listen to should warrant a listen.

While I enjoy Vaporwave for the most part, and the album has really stand out tracks (リサフランク420 / 現代のコンピュー ,ブート & ECCOと悪寒ダイビング) the rest is forgettable and slow. Given its meme staus I should feel bad for giving it a low score, but at the same time, its just not the masterpiece I was expecting,
Is this the logical evolution of Neutral Milk Hotel?
Cant understand the hatred, this album is great fun, its an easy listen, and has a wonderful style

It's refreshing to heard an album that isn't trying to hide it cynicism behind some pretentious music or cryptic lyrics. I love that this FJM comes our straight and to the point with the lyrics and I respect him for that. The album does get better as it goes on leading to a pretty fantastic final 2 songs. I wasn't huge on FJM prior to this release, I love You, Honeybear never really gripped me as much as I wanted, but with this album I can understand the appeal

Ethereal. haunting, emotional. Arca's new album is a huge departure from his previous Mutant. Its slower and feels more serious. But his efforts are not wasted. This is easily one of the best albums this year and is absolutely worth a listen.
Favorite: Piel, Saunter, Castration
Least Favorite: Whip, Fugaces
Its a surreal experience best had through headphones. Something completely different that admittedly I didn't even like at first, but I kept coming back for more, and I kept listening, and it grew on me and now its 2 years later and im still listening and loving

I'm not going to sit here and pretend I understand this kind of music. But I will say I enjoyed it for what it was and will go back for another listen. For me, its nothing close to AOTY worthy, but I can see why someone would enjoy it
Favorite tracks: Nakedness Of Need, Sleepwalking Form
Least Favorite: Transmission, No Natural Order
I was excited to hear new music from The Shins. That was more or less what I got. Its The Shins, and that's the most you can say. They played it safe and produced an album that is undoubtedly them. Its not a bad album, but the lack of any kind of risk or change is the cause of my low(ish) score.
Favorite Songs: Dead Alive, Painting A Hole
Least Favorite: Mildenhall, Rubber Ballz
