Panda Bear - Buoys

Exactly middle of the road. I dont hate it, there is something good here. But its also crazy dull and not that great.

Cant say im going to remember this album by the end of the year.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Cyboogie

It's not a perfect song I can recognize its flaws. But at some point I just stopped caring because this song is a jam. I know it, you know, just admit it.

Malibu Ken - Malibu Ken
65

The hip-hop album for those who knew KSG wasn't psychedelic. Very strong start to the year. Definitely not perfect, the production can be too underwhelming or even too invasive at times.

Favorites: Corn Maze, Tuesday, Dog Years, Acid King
Least Favorite: Save Our Ship

Edit: Over the years i've fallen far out of love with this one from 9 > 6.5

Greta Van Fleet - Anthem of the Peaceful Army
40

Is it bad? No
Is it boring and unoriginal? Whole heartedly

It's not the worst thing i've ever heard, and it will never be. But damn was it dull. I see no reason to revisit other than showing up in a shuffle.

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
NR

I never understood the concept of an album being "too smart for me" until I decided to listen to this. It requires a lot of focus and knowledge of music, it's a very difficult listen. But i'm sticking it out

SHXCXCHCXSH - OUFOUFOF
40

Well, that was boring

The Prodigy - No Tourists
45

Oh man, I wanted to love this, and it started great, and I was feeling it. Until it hit is climax at the halfway point. Then it just felt samey, boring, and too Prodigy by the numbers. Then Boom Boom Tap happened, this might be the worst Prodigy song. What a massive disappointment.

Favorite: Fighting Fire with Fire
Least Favorite: Boom Boom Tap

Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want
80

It's one of the most brutal, relentless, visceral and scary experiences of the year so far. Everything comes together to make an experience I both crave and fear. It's a quick listen that barely has any downtime. If you can make it through the only weak track on the album; the first one, you're in for quite the experience. If im to be honest, the inaccessibility of the album (it took me 2 or 3 listens for it to really begin to shine) is why I haven't given this a 100

Low - Double Negative

I'm not really sure what I expected to hear, and im still not entirely sure I liked it, but im going to keep listening and hope it will grow on me like it has for so many other people on the site.

Kurt Vile - Bottle It In
75

Its a good album, it just feels so much longer than it actually is.

Amnesia Scanner - Another Life
85

With AS A.W.O.L. and AS Too Wrong being as high quality as they are, I have high hopes for this.

It could very well be the definitive AOTY

Edit: I was AS Correct

Death Cab for Cutie - Thank You For Today
65

Hopefully like Kintsugi I will come back to this and realize its better than it seems.

Animal Collective - Tangerine Reef
40

It's so boring, all the songs sound the same. This would be better suited to a live performance, but even then i'd still probably fall asleep. This takes the cake for the biggest disappointment of the year.

65

Its a decent album, and the experimentation is nice, but it feels unfocused with how often songs will change. It's a lot to take in and a far cry from an amazing metal album.

Helena Hauff - Qualm
60

A little uninspired and forgettable. Had this not come out in a year with so many strong electronic albums I think it may have had more of a chance.

Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD
NR

I love Bucketheadland2

Wham! - Make It Big
75

Imagine picking this album up at a thrift store as a joke just for Careless Whisper, only to find out that its a pretty phenomenal album...yeah, its great.

Deafheaven - Ordinary Corrupt Human Love
70

This is going to require multiple listens, but I see it being very high up in my Top 10 of the year

""he robot who wants to be a human or to feel human emotions is a little uninspired and cliche, but at the same time it adds a cinematic atmosphere, like a low-key sci-fi book. I enjoyed the most of the songs, except 'Vomit Coffin' (and all the vomit stuff)" Great review, but this part bothered me, because if you listen to the words or read along the entire last part is about Han-Tyumi and his mission not to become human and feel emotions. But to Vomit and Die. "

"But when the sound is regressive like this than i'd say its more worth the low scores. I mean if you're going to tell me the instrumentation and sound on this album is more evolved than Plastic Beach, id say you were crazy. "
