Not a bad record, some nice sounds but the songs can feel very long winded or slow at times.
Favorites: Deipkier, Hangingstones
Least Favorite: Slack Sley & Temple
This is wild, never thought i'd see the day Macintosh Plus drew inspiration from Arca
Following in the footsteps of You Wont Get What You Want, this is brutal, abrasive, noisy, experimental, and an absolute blast to listen to. What they manage to get away with and what they manage to bring here is pretty phenomenal and deserves more recognition especially for tracks like Shoulderblades and Salmon of Knowledge
While not what I expected an no where near the genius of their previous efforts like The Seer. Leaving, Meaning has a dark brooding atmosphere that welcomes all who who live in a constant shifting mental state. It's foreboding and scary at times and the chord progressions on display are heavy and thick as the album envelopes you. The album is like Soundtracks For The Blind in the sense that nothing here makes sense without the context of the track before, it all comes down to that perfectly ... read more
Excellent sound and atmosphere. In a year sorely lacking in outstanding IDM releases this one stands tall and stands proud. Amazing amazing album.
Why is no one talking about this album? It's been 10yrs and The Number Twelve is just all around awesome. Please, listen to this album.
If its not AOTY its album art of the year for sure
Edit: Definitely not AOTY, top quality album as always from Danny but especially compared to his previous efforts it falls short
Favorite Tracks: Dirty Laundry, 3 Tearz, Savage Nomad
Least Favorite: Theme Song, unknowwhatimsaying
Very nearly a perfect album
Edit: I take it back, its a perfect album.
Their best release since A Weird Exits, might be their best to date if i'm totally honest here
Favorites: The Daily Heavy, Face Stabber, Scutum & Scorpius, Poisoned Stones, Henchlock
Least Favorites: Snickernsee, Captain Loosely
Thrash is trash, but this album is the exception. Blending more than thrash into a brutally loud and relentless listen akin to Nonagon Infinity levels of speed and technical skill. I think the weak singles worked in this albums favor because I did not expect it to even be remotely this good
Favorite Tracks: Superbug, Perihelion, Self-Immolate
Least Favorite: Planet B, Organ Farmer
This is honestly his best album to date, taking everything he's learned from Dumb Flesh and World Eater blending it into one amazingly noisy and deep experience. This could have gone either way but im happy to say how good it is.
Favorite Tracks: Death Drop, House Vs. House, Hush Money, Love Is A Parasite
Least Favorite: The artwork honestly, makes me uncomfortable
Thrash is trash but watch the gizz boys create a better thrash album in one go than Metallica could in their entire career
It's not that bad, y'all are just being mean
Simply put, this is AOTY. His sound has grown up in a new fantastic way relying way less on loop pedals and synths gives this albums a new depth and importance. As always his song writing and vocal skills are on full display and the emotion you expect from him is all here but are enhanced by the beautiful composition this is most apparent in the stretch of songs; Angeline, Summer of '42, and Theme For Jerome.
I cant sing enough praises for this album
Update: Upon multiple listens it doesn't ... read more
You guys have no idea how much I wanted to love this album only to come up around the 4th song and realize how bored I was. Their sound is unchanged and thats fine, but for me, its not enough it just feels like more of the same albums I'e been listening too since high school which has grown stale over the years and works against this album for sure.
I wanted to love it so much, but I cant.
