Turner Cody & The Soldiers Of Love - Friends In High Places

Some great track with a nice clean sound. However a lot of them end up feeling the same by the end

Machine Girl - WLFGRL
70

Its good but feels over hyped, I think I expected more given the love I see for it all over the internet

Dry Cleaning - New Long Leg

Really excellent instrumentations ruined by some lifeless spoken word vocals. Ever as a stylistic choice they seem poorly executed with little variations in her voice or tone for an entire album. Leaves the whole experience feeling one note. Really if it wasn't for the instrumentals I'd write this one off completely.

FKA twigs - tears in the club

I don't get what's so special about this. It's just a standard pop track that happens to be produced by Arca.

45

Man what happened to Arca? Mutant is one of my favorite albums of all time, and this new Kick series just falls flat on its face more often than not. i, ii, and iii have their moments but the overall experience of them all just feels weaker than her earlier works.

What we have here is much more ambient and atmospheric experience from Arca, and I'm not sure it works. She's really at her best when she's deconstructing music or going batshit crazy. Nothing here works, and call me disappointed.

This one is just bad, nothing stands out

Project Pablo - Live In Montreal
90

This has very quickly become one of my favorite live mixes, its got an amazing vibe and Project Pablos sound can calm any soul

µ-Ziq & Mrs Jynx - Secret Garden
70

Working my way through Bleeps top 10, and its another album that has some great tracks but the overall album falls a little short. I appreciate just how nice this album is to listen to, its smooth and soft with excellent production and a calm atmosphere. But again just as a whole it doesn't stack up to the best of the year for me.

Favorite Track: Afternoon Sunshine

Eris Drew - Quivering in Time
65

Its got some great tracks, but the overall experience as an album feels a little disjointed.

Loving Clav & Sensation are definitely worth a listen

Ed Sheeran - =

NGL, my Ex loved Ed and I feel no shame giving this album a 0 knowing she's out there trying to tell people its amazing

猫 シ Corp. - ショップ @ ヘルシンキ
85

Probably one of my favorite Vaporwave albums

Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
90

It's the kind of genius only a mad man can conceive. Its brilliant but awful, you can really hear all of the influence its had over the years and beyond the sound of it all lies a true masterpiece of work. Both somehow inaccessibly awful and an absolute essential album.

There are no good or bad track on this one, everything is equal footing and every time I listen I find a new favorite.

BADBADNOTGOOD - Talk Memory
85

May require more listens but first impressions place it very near the top of my year end list. Will update later

Tropical Fuck Storm - Deep States
85

This was a very tough album. With most TFS projects its a difficult listen front to back and to date its their most experimental outing. I can understand some of the low scores. However its an excel album, they've really done their best to evolve their sound to this point and each song had me on edge just waiting to hear what the came up with next. Its not a perfect album, definitely not their best, and absolutely not a great starting point for the band

Favorite tracks: G.A.F.F., Bumma ... read more

Wavves - Hideaway
75

Solid album, some really great tracks. Just a really safe album for Wavves and that's fine with me.

Favorite Tracks: Hideaway, Help is On The Way, The Blame

Tones And I - The Kids Are Coming
10

been forced to listen to this at work now enough that I can say please, no more

Lucy Dacus - Home Video
80

Without a doubt Lucy's best album to date

Favorite tracks: Christine, Going Going Gone, Triple Dog Dare
Least favorite: None

Bo Burnham - Inside (The Songs)
78

Unironically a great album

80

Not perfect, but wholly unique. This is genuinely the most creative album I've heard all year, it's so unlike anything else before it, and for that alone its worth a listen.

Squid - Bright Green Field
65

I want to love this album so much. But they really have some pacing issues and right after Boy Racer it becomes very tedious to listen to.

Favorite tracks: G.S.K, Narrator, Pamphlets
Least fav: Boy Racers

""he robot who wants to be a human or to feel human emotions is a little uninspired and cliche, but at the same time it adds a cinematic atmosphere, like a low-key sci-fi book. I enjoyed the most of the songs, except 'Vomit Coffin' (and all the vomit stuff)" Great review, but this part bothered me, because if you listen to the words or read along the entire last part is about Han-Tyumi and his mission not to become human and feel emotions. But to Vomit and Die. "

"But when the sound is regressive like this than i'd say its more worth the low scores. I mean if you're going to tell me the instrumentation and sound on this album is more evolved than Plastic Beach, id say you were crazy. "
