Let's pretend that the whole album is just the intro and the outro.
GO:OD AM, while not being as consistent as an album like Faces, Might genuinely be the best sound Mac has worked with. Sure, Faces might be the more consistent album, but the highs on this album like Brand Name, show that' mac could've ultimately stuck with this and still have a long lasting, well known career.
The sound is however what mostly sticks out on this album, as it's not as packed with emotion and storytelling like Watching Movies With The Sound Off or Faces. It's ... read more
Charming storytelling in 80s rap music is not to be taken for granted, especially when the storytelling, like in this one, is able to be understood easily but also have impressive detail. I mean the guy voices the characters in each song I think. Oh yeah the voice acting on this thing has me dead this fucker just voiced an Indian girl and some children in a high pitched voice while he sounds like he may be of assistance. Indian Girl is the greatest song ever made btw.
>Becomes depressed
>Makes some of the best music in their career
>refuses to elaborate
This is a fucking hip-hop album. This is a group with good ass potential. Not that fucking jazz rap bullshit they did before. Imagine your dad yelling that in your face. Then you know how I felt listening to this.
This album was to prove a point, and that's fine. I think they work great with hardcore sounds, and there are some songs that just make you hit the "😮💨". But since their last album was better imo, the effect of them doing this had better potential than it ... read more
Something about Danny Brown is that he somehow always manages to work with every type of music imaginable. Give him literally any beat and he will come back with the most fire feature ever. And because of that, he has worked with countless artists, like Jane remover, Charlie xcx, Quadeca, Freddie Gibbs(that one actually kinda makes sense), Gorillaz etc. which inspired him to make an album like this, and if you're hating on that, screw you this is fire and it's one of the best sounds ... read more
This album fs deserves a lollipop and a fake-tattoo sticker
The fact that he actually has a Mexican homie named Chinese Mike is beyond me.
I remember this guy just making mid-on-mid a few years ago before this. I've always thought it was pretty nice that every Mac Miller album concept is just about how he was feelin' at the moment, but now that he's become more famous and vulnerable with his music, it's gotten a lot more interesting.
This album's both happy and sad, with mac talking about his struggles, but also his fame and how nice it feels to finally succeed. So you don't necessarily feel any ... read more
You go into the album, you're basically just really entertained bu the fact that he rhymes so many syllables in such a strange way for no reason. 5 or 6 tracks go by and now it doesn't entertain you anymore, that's when you realize that half the beats are mid as hell and you've just been distracted by the flows. Anyway it still has good beats like on Molasses and an impressive feature list so who cares.
No I don't. How am I supposed to when there's no violent yelling or niche experimental production for unlikable people¿ Danny peaked when he was on hardcore drugs smh🤦
I think this album could've gotten up to a 90+ if some of the ideas were executed better since the album's really creative.
To have a trap artist switch genres fully out of nowhere is really rare, but for him to just slide right into the psychedelic world of music with seemingly no difficulties is even wilder. Fucking boss ass move by Yachty, I'll say.
Now, when we get to the actual quality of the album, it's still good, don't get me wrong, but imagine this. A new marvel superhero with overpowered abilities and mad charisma, got it? Now imagine that superhero, but they were dropped on their head as a ... read more
Guys, get this. If an album has near perfect production, near perfect lyricism, and near perfect vocals, the album's gonna be nearly perfect.
I have a friend who loves Sexyy Red and NLE Choppa and thinks that Lil Durk is a top 10 lyricist of all time. That is because of this albums influence on drill and trap. This album single handedly created the most insuffrable music taste out there, so fuck you Keef. Fire album, but fuck you.
I guess it still has the creativity and off-the-wall style of XXX, it just didn't pan out as well here. but the stretch from track 15-17 is rough lmao.
