You know, I'm tired of shitting on Ed Sheeran so I wanted to like this project, or at least give it a 5/10 and move on. I think the opener showed promise, not of good music but rather tolerable music, that little alcapella bridge was pretty. I was foolish and naive. I'm not writing an organized review for this shit, just look at the song ratings below to understand my anguish, my desk is crying from the impact with my closed fist. You can say I'm exaggerating but I genuienly had a terrible time ... read more
An Evening With Silk Sonic is a calm and soothing one, full of delicacies from the elastrious Anderson .Paak and the fuck-boy prime: Bruno Mars. Some songs feel more like Bruno Mars songs rather than a contributions of two artists, but Ig that's fine. It's not a ground-breaking release, but my expectations were almost matched, even though they were pretty high, maybe too high. Super groovy, smooth as silk and beautiful in it's own right.
Favourite: After Last Night (that hook will be in my ... read more
Lead by Alela this album is a heartwrenching portrayal of colonization, from the perspective of native americans. It's quite straightforward with it's sound, which isn't entirely a bad thing, especially when considering the subject matter. I feel like I'm sitting by a campfire listening to them sing, it's very heartwarming and homely, but at the same time melancholic. It's deffinetly one of these albums that is best experienced as a full project, there aren't really any singles off this that ... read more
After the intro I had no idea what to expect, is this gonna be some trap rap album with some classic chinese flutes and gongs? The anwer is no, it's not. After the confusing but relatively cool intro, we're greeted with several BTS ripoffs. The songs range from good to intolerable, since you can't rate tracks here I'll do it below, since this EP is a special kind of mixed bag.
Intro : Window - 6
-weird but still kinda cool? Trap rap kinda limited it for me, but I like the beggining.

I think Bonnie was way ahead of her time. After every song I had to look at the release date of this, just as a reminder. This feels like Julie London but with more psychedelia and chilling instrumentation. Just like with Julie London, Bonnie's voice carries pretty much every track, it's the thread that ties the songs here into a complete picture. Yet the instrumentation is far more engaging than the smooth jazz that accompanied Love On The Rocks. The first leg is relatively tame to what comes ... read more
This album wasn't on AOTY so I added it
God, this is so funky I legit got up from my chair while listening. I obv have no idea what he's talking about, but I don't care since it's so groovy. Like I'm listening to aggressive Islam funk, and it's so addictive that I'm already rolling out the carpet for my prayer. Every song here is memorable in it's own way, and it's a joy to listen to. Zia's voice commands pressence, but it's also relaxing. The instrumentation is both grand and fun, which is an ... read more
The lyrics are disturbing to me, not necessarily because of the subject matter, but rather the child's/teenager's perspective from which it's told. I think the lyrics improved, instrumentally it's more wild than their two previous projects. Yet it's wild in a superficial way, because that wildnes mostly comes from segments or interludes that are wild and whimsical, amidst unadventurous acoustic balladry and more electric guitars in the second leg. Nevertheless I have to conferr that it's both ... read more
Feels a little more nuanced than their debut, but still not refined. I actually enjoyed this more than their debut, mostly because they are generally more adventurous with their sound palette, incorporating more electronica. I just wish this was a fully realized album, and not an EP, because not much is missing to consider it an album.
It's kind of a bop, kind of a lofi chill vibe, not much more. Not a lot of innovation and whimsical flamboyant energy that I know the band for. It's clear that it's their humble begginings, it's quite one dimensional with it's sound palette. The biggest thing halfway in that changes, is changing acoustic guitar for an electric one. The second half I found to be more enjoyable than the first.
I took my time with this album, but that's because its great, and I had to analyze it more in depth.
The lyrics are so blunt and straight forward that they make me laugh, and if the album was on any other subjects, they'd be funny because they were bad. Yet on this album that bluntness translates into relatable candor about a situation, that all of us experienced. The humour is both tasteful and also funny as fuck, I'll listen to White Woman's Instagram many, many times xd. Though sometimes ... read more
I won't remember any songs on here tomorrow, maybe Ben Franklin and Glory. It's not bad by any means, but it's just painfully predictable in structuring. The verse-hook-verse-hook formula is followed by the book, and the hooks are simply not catchy enough to excuse it. Because of how predictable it is, it gets worse with more listens, and just for that I can't give it a score of 70+. The biggest pro of this album, is that it doesn't drag for a long time, I'd say 31 minutes is perfect for what ... read more
This album is quite simple in the formulas it follows, yet it all comes together in an irresistable and supremely catchy way. I loved every song from the album, especially the tastefully added latin american flavour to the electronic sounds this album provides. Though the album dips a little in quality after the stellar Vamos, but not enough to poison my memory of this project.
I haven't listened to any singles off this, because I was expecting boomer music, and I pretty much got what I expected, it's ok. The entire album sounds like a theatrical play constructed for a kindergarden audience, but it's still somewhat enjoyable. If that's what ABBA was aiming for, S+ effort.
EDIT: Kinda rushed the review so I listened a few more times, it reverse grew on me quite a lot (original score 66)
Radiohead Journey #9 (first listen)
A Moon Shaped Pool is beautiful, but sometimes it tries too hard at being background noise, some songs could've been just more intresting. Yet as an entire package it provides an artistically complete picture, a picture that invokes a sense of serenity and anxiety like not a lot of projects can. Even though I said some songs aren't as intresting, as a collective these tracks work extremely well as a 50 minute beautiful voyage, and I appreciate that.
The Sunlandic Twins feels like a scorching touch of the sun, and slowly burning in it's light. Because though the musical package is incredibly enjoyable, the subject matter is depressing, and is delivered as a plea of mercy from a powerless person (or at least from someone that thinks they're powerless). It's incredibly enjoyable and in a bizzare way, flamboyant, mostly due to Kevin's voice nearly having no stomach in it, simmilar to Jeff Magnum. The album is overall consistent, but there are ... read more
Radiohead Journey (first listen) #8
Their least imaginative project in my view, there is so little going on in these instrumentals, it's barren. Thom doesn't do enough imo to justify the skeletal composition he sings over. This feels like Pablo Honey pt. 2, but this sequel is less cute, because of their achievements during the last decade. So far it's my least favourite Radiohead project.
Government Plates is what I believe to be a better version of what they were trying to achieve on their last album, No Love Deep Web. I think it's much more enjoyable and overall executed with more taste. Death Grips also lose a lot of their raw punch here, which initially was a huge flaw in my eyes, but in the end I came to love this as a really good album for how well it's put together. Also I always wondered this; Do you also hear "I got my mama's scrotum" on Birds? xd
No Love Deep Web is more wild than The Money Store, but not wild enough to convince me of it's greatness. It's unsettling but in a different way, it's more like listening to whispers coming from the shadows, while The Money Store was more like getting murdered while MC Ride licks your corpse. Still an enjoyable listen, but it feels like a more watered down version of the money store, with more electronic sounds taking center stage.
EDIT: It grew on me even more, holy fuck
Compared to the 'official' release the offline version feels much more complete. Not only the songs that got added are great, but all the songs surrounding it feel like they contribute better to forming a cohesive experience. In conclusion, a few songs went up in score from 80 to 90 or from 90 to 100, and I loved all the new songs that show up here, even BMT! which on the online version I rated a 100 I like even more here, like wow.
I wish some of the mixing on this album was less tame, because it takes away from the rawness of Peggy's delivery. However the album as a package is more of Peggy making amazing music, he doesn't try anything revolutionary compared to his previous works. Yet his style is so unique that I do not mind at all, because it's really consistent in quality. BTW why have BALD! and then the remix, if the remix is just a better version of the original?
