Tame Impala just continues to improve; everything is more grand, interesting, and full of musical tension that is just so damn satisfying. The majority of this is a spectacular spacey experience. The vocals are also significantly better than the previous albums. My only gripes are spoken word that felt awkward, and a couple of the songs in the later half tend to drag on and are slightly forgettable.
An absolutely gorgeous, consisted and well crafted album. When I thought it was getting boring, the production would switch up slightly and keep it interesting. Pretty vocals, the lyrics are mostly good apart from jarring moments here and there, and the only song that I didn’t love as much as the rest was Tinkerbell is overrated.
Most of the tracks are pretty decent, I just really hate the interludes. The classical sections are quite pretty as well. Laroi can improve on basically everything but it’s still a somewhat solid foundation to build on.
Kinda overhated if I’m being honest, some pretty good tracks on here. There’s also some garbage and as a whole it’s kinda disappointing.
This wasn’t necessary, full of unfinished songs, they feel too commercial or just filler. Also why does laroi need to release the same songs over and over again it’s such a headache
Lonerism is a very solid enchanting psych rock/indie album from Tame Impala. The vocals feel more polished and unique compared to their debut album, and the production is much more consistent and makes more sense. What this album lacks in is memorable tracks; for the most part it can blend in together and appear a bit muddled. Best track was it feels like we only go backwards by a mile.
Incredibly consistent and intricate lyrics with complementary production. Nothing to exactly fault, just lacks the thematic grandeur that worked so well on her previous album.
I think Kanye’s production and creative direction really brought out the best in cudi for this. A niche little album that doesn’t get old no matter how many times you listen, only problem is it feels a little too forced in some aspects.
This album really lives up to its name, and as a result doesn’t really have any cohesiveness or strings that could tie it together. That being said, it seems like all the resources that KSI has as well as the likely hard work he’s put into improving his craft shows, as he continues to force himself into the grooves of the numerous genres he dabbled in. The worst one by far is number 2, which sounds like it came straight from his previous album. Best tracks were the moment, patience ... read more
This is a pretty bland attempt at an atmospheric trap album. Some tracks are way too unimaginative with production and lyrics, and KSI consistently delivers mediocre vocal performances. The star studded feature list feels like a desperate attempt to make people take KSI seriously, and their performances are fairly average as well. The only tracks where KSI seems to feel comfortable are Houdini and Domain.
Considering a lack of experience or past success in the music industry, I think this album is better than expected. Production is sort of boring and there’s a couple filler tracks that really shouldn’t be there on a 10 track album. Champagne had a lot of potential but didn’t go anywhere, and real name and bow down were very bad. The songwriting is average to mediocre throughout, and vocal performances are fairly weak. Best track was slow motion.
This is kinda overrated, don’t get me wrong there’s plenty of classics on here that are eminem at his best, incredibly and emotional writing and story telling on tracks like stan, the way I am, and Kim, but there are tracks that feel like their only purpose is to try and scare the listener or make the album seem harder than it has to be. Under the influence is very very bad as well.
The mixing and vocal delivery is very bad, it only works on a few of the tracks. The writing is ok, shades of the self-awareness that is the highlight of MMLP2 begins to show. There are some very poor tracks on here like Talkin 2 Myself and WTP. There are standouts tho, like No Love, Space Bound, and Cinderella Man.
This isn’t really my genre at all, but from what I can gather I think Ava delivers on this from the most part. A lot of it is samey dance pop and house tracks with uninspired writing and instrumentation, but it stays at a consistent level and it’s definitely listenable.
This is such a cool easy listen, yet when you really pay attention it’s packed with self reflection, an enthralling narrative, but also acts as a magnifying glass to a typically misunderstood culture. Also incredibly catchy and just downright fun. My one criticism is that there were times where the production started to feel uninteresting and didn’t match the rest of the album. Best tracks were dance now, sistanem and can’t make u change.
Honestly I don’t think this is as bad as a lot of people seem to think. Unholy is incredibly overplayed but not a bad song by any means, and the title track acts a beautiful break of gospel from the underwhelming soulless other tracks. It’s pretty concise thematically as well. There are some very bad and just incredibly mediocre songs that don’t offer any value to the record. Still passable tho.
This is so good!!! The cinematic instrumentation perfectly compliments Simz’ cold delivery, and the concept feels fresh and impactful. With some of the most insightful bars consistently spread across this 1 hour project, as well as the dynamic shifts in musical feel across the tracklist, Simz solidifies her status as one of the best rappers currently. My only criticism is that some tracks drag on ever so slightly, and then never make promises interlude feels slightly out of place and ... read more
Gaz delivers a pretty stock-standard indie rock album with lots to like, but not necessarily a heap to love. Some tracks feel too familiar after the first few listens, and as a result it isn’t as memorable as other indie rock records. Still one of the better consistent albums of 2023. Favourites were overnight trains, don’t say it’s over, and long live the strange.
