Very disappointing considering how much I enjoyed his previous LP. The majority of this is a grating blend of country and pop rock that feels incredibly forced, with average performances and some garbage tracks as well as some more somewhat stand out tracks.
A very solid entry from Denzel Curry, it’s very impressive lyrically as well as a mostly cohesive instrumentation experience. My main problems are that some tracks overstay their welcome and the pacing can feel awkward at times.
The hype that ‘As It Was’ created was unreal, and it was a genuinely good single too. However, in comparison to that, the album is fairly disappointing. There’s too much either commercial music or boring filler low-fi pop, none which have the same charm as As It Was.
Wow this is bad. They accomplished what they wanted to do by making anti-music. Will never listen to this again, do not recommend unless you want to sonically suffer for well over an hour.
This is plentiful of short, snappy bangers that are so catchy and addictive. Plus, this record only has one real stinker (Introspective). However, its main detriment is that it is all so one dimensional, and while is a fun listen, gets repetitive and is devoid of any meaningful differentiation.
Truly spectacular, you are treated to an incredible atmospheric adventure through beautiful song-writing and cohesive and simple yet euphoric instrumentation. The few small problems I have with it are that some parts feel a tiny bit too long, an unnecessary transition between Us and Them and Any colour you like, and that the last two tracks aren’t the one. But these are only minuscule and this is still amazing.
Such a masterpiece, and a massive step up from his previous projects. Quadeca delivers one of the most well thought out and sonically interesting albums of 2022. If it weren’t for the awkward style in Cassini’s division, this album could have been a 10/10 but the closer just didn’t do it for me.
An overall fairly bad album with its best attribute being the rare instances of promise that put Quadeca’s later projects into astounding context.
I understand not liking this album, but for me it just clicks entirely; a captivating rhythm pounds throughout the majority of the runtime, creating an enthralling atmosphere. There are so many bangers on this that may not be the most technically impressive pieces of Indie/Pop rock, however are addictive and are almost infinitely re-listenable. There are only a few dull tracks, and overall the album could do with a touch more care and thought, but overall this is a very solid listen.
While this is a slight improvement from the untapped potential seen by his self titled solo debut album, Harry trades the charm and honesty of ‘Harry Styles’ for a more soulless and slightly weaker album in terms of songwriting. However, a lot of the production makes up for this as well as dynamic and powerful performances.
This is Eminem’s worst project and I’ll stand by it. Side A wasn’t anything good anyway, and all Eminem does is add 16 virtually entirely forgettable tracks that are tickling the very much alive horse of success (as opposed to beating a dead horse, not sure if this metaphor makes sense lol). Mostly dreadful rapping, nothing interesting to look for, and also taints the already extremely lacklustre side A.
While there are flashes of brilliance (for lack of a better word), overall I don’t see this as much as an improvement from Kamikaze. Eminem is either trying to forcefully fit into a more modern trap feel to no avail, delivering the same old dysfunctional relationship song, or just rapping without any seemingly deep or insightful messages. This album being an Alfred Hitchcock concept album also feels cheap and not executed effectively at all. Darkness and I Will were the only songs that ... read more
There’s definitely a few gems on here that really encapsulate that rage-filled youthful Eminem that captured the audience that suspends his career twenty years down the track. However, as a project this isn’t as good as nostalgia made it out to be for me; plenty of filler tracks where nothing interesting happens, although the skits are entertaining there’s simply too many and it’s too disruptive, and the lyrical content can be quite repetitive.
I saw this getting a lot of attention and was intrigued to give it a listen. I really like the premise of this; a genre bending record with a short runtime yet many different potent avenues of artistic endeavour. The production is satisfactory and each track has an interesting theme lyrically, however I do have some problems. A lot of the tracks seem to build this amazing musical tension, but it doesn’t dissolve nearly as well as it was built and leaves me wanting more. A lot of these ... read more
I’m not sold on this. It had so much potential; a lot of genres and sounds mixed together, with somewhat interesting themes. However, this thing is just too cluttered; some songs (particularly the popular ‘Escapism’) try and do too much, whereas others just drone on and don’t really contribute much. The second half is much worse than the first half, and there are some terrible, cringey lyrics that are trying to preach in virtually the worst way possible. Oscar winning ... read more
This is a disappointment after hearing their infectious and addictive previous release Currents. The majority of this is forgettable, with the only tracks pushing this record close to a 70 being Borderline, It Might Be Time, and One More Hour. The interest seems to have significantly faded and at times this felt very derivative of daft punk but with unsatisfying progression. Sadly this is Tame Impala’s weakest release.
Wow this is dreadful, some of the most soulless radio music I’ve ever heard. He has a cool voice I guess but doesn’t do anything interesting with it. Production is mostly boring, I am never relistening to this.
Way too long and bloated, the mixing sucks, trippie is clearly not putting his all into the majority of these songs. The features don’t really add much to a seriously underwhelming project.
