Steve Lacy - Gemini Rights
75

Probably the perfect user score... It's a lot more polished than his first attempt at an album. For me, Steve doesn't stand out in this sort of genre, I feel he's a bit more safe and a bit more unoriginal with his lyrics and beats, especially considering he produces his beats etc... All that aside this is a refreshing album to come back to time to time. Nothing amazing but far from average. Just a good all-rounded short album.

Daniel Caesar - Freudian
85

Although this album is very short, it's jam packed with hits to hits. The whole vibe of this album and Daniel's style really works and there's little to no skips. His style is very repetitive at times though, a lot of the songs sounding similar to the same, but not necessarily a bad thing. This album really shows his talent with vocals, good lyrics and touching songs from start to end. Simply a great album for a first and probably his best album.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

Ooo wow just finished this surprise album and it's pretty good. If I'm being honest, it didn't blow me away, especially with Kendrick's previous works but still, a really really good album. My opinion might change but I think this is his 2nd worst album, although GNX is still a good album. A lot of unique features which a lot of them I never heard of apart from a few but think they did alright, and I liked the samples in this project. A quite consistent album as the worst ... read more

Cordae - The Crossroads
80

Cordae's best work to date, very charming and consistent throughout, although many of the songs have the same feel to them. The production on this album is easily Cordae's best though, the lyrics are also transformed on this album and stands out to the rest of the work he has made in the past, just an all-round good album that stands out in 2024 and will hold up as it's just really good and has a lot of good features.

Juice WRLD - Goodbye & Good Riddance
70

For me Juice's best work, his style really blemishes on this album and introduces a unique style to rap which he has held up until his death. Although a short legacy, it is a legacy as Juice will definitely inspire other rappers to try out this style and many new artists have had glimpses of Juice in their work. This album although not the strongest in the 2nd half, still a fairly strong album with many classics that are super iconic in Juice's discography, although a bit outdated and ... read more

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day
75

This album is easily Cudi's best ''solo'' work, it's a very charming album especially at it's time, and has vibes of Graduation, while still sounding modern - essentially holding up pretty well to today's standards. It has great lyrics especially for it being Cudi's first album. It feels a bit repetitive hence not breaking into the 80's, as it get's a bit tedious at some points. Other than that, a very, very solid album.

Yeat - LYFESTYLE

I don't even want to finish this mess. The genre is rage but I rage when I listen to shit music, and this is shit. I hate Yeat with a passion, his voice is worse than Carti's (somehow.) This shit is so generic now even my Yeat glazing friend says this new album is mid. It's literally the same album over and over again yet there's so many people that like it, I just don't get it. Everything sounds the same and it doesn't even sound good. No thanks.

BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION III
80

My favourite out the trilogy. It's jam packed of some of Brockhampton's most memorable songs. Brockhampton's music is super versatile thanks to it's varied production styles that can really make the listening experience grip you in while still creating some more chill songs. This album is a prime example of that, it's super varied, it goes from BOOGIE then 2 songs later a more chill song and vice versa, which I feel is why so many love Brockhampton, and for me, this ... read more

Mitski - Bury Me at Makeout Creek
80

Tomorrow marks the 10 year anniversary of this flattering album. The vocals on this album are the best Mitski has ever done, and is Mitski's best album. It's captivating while really chill, and reminds me of Bjork in a way. A lot of passion was put into this project and it's a really good album overall, with Mitski being at her most vulnerable state with the lyrics. Overall great album with all songs being at least decent.

Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red
60

It's ok. All the songs sound the same and I despise his high pitched messy voice, ruins all the songs for me and all the beats are annoying after a while. Never liked Carti for some reason and never understood the hype. Literally song after song it sounded like the same beat with a little twist. Extra points for it being a unique style at the time, as I never remember hearing something similar to this before, but it does not mean it's good. So long as well and is just boring after a ... read more

Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans

Man what's up with the low rating, shit is beautiful and has multiple big songs on it... A few duds but this album is simply really good.. even the not so great songs are listenable, which is hard to find with pop songs. This album is so nostalgic as well and still holds up nowadays and I can listen to a lot of these songs on repeat, especially when I want to be in my feels, MAYBE a little corny hence not being higher but for sure overhated.

JAY-Z - 4:44
85

I adore this album. Jay Z's passion, lyricism is at an all time high since The Black Album on 4:44, each song is a work of art and although the production is quite consistent throughout the album - where it sounds similar, it's still fresh after every song somehow, it grips you in, while still having that old intense Jay-Z inside of it. I wish it was a little longer but with the content we have, it simply is a brilliant project all-round, with little complaints.

Killer Mike - MICHAEL
70

A decent album that has some nice songs. I don't think it's necessarily a bad album but feels very generic and nothing unique to what Killer Mike has made and it doesn't stand out for me especially in the rap scene, production is really good on it though, the use of certain styles and samples is very smart but it still doesn't blow me away and don't really get how it got rap album of the year over Utopia.. Not bad though.

Smallpools - LOVETAP!

A divine album that is so nostalgic to me. Rating might be a bit biased but there's a lot of bangers on this album which really makes me happy, I don't know why, it just does. It's nothing original or unique but for a debut studio album it is a brilliant effort from a very, very underrated band. Although not my usual style of music, it's always refreshing to move onto some genres that match my mood, such as this one. It features one of my favourite songs of all time ... read more

Joost - Fryslân
75

Joost is a very versatile and unique artist, he started off as a youtuber, to a very, very successful artist in his country, and this album really shows off why people love him so much in the Netherlands. Although some songs feel outdated, many of the songs feel like a whole new experience, even the really bad ones... especially since a lot of it is in a different language, and although he may not be for everyone, he is still an artist you should check out, as sometimes if something sounds ... read more

Sainté - Local MVP

Although only 4 tracks, this EP has really little to no flaws, UK rap is never my first choice for rap, however this just has such a calming and hype feel to it I recommend everyone to check it out. Literally only this low because all 4 tracks sound the same, which isn't a bad thing and I do find Sainte to be quite a unique artist, although I do question his versatility, as a lot of his work feels and sounds very similar to each other. Good EP though!

Common - The Auditorium Vol. 1
80

A very fresh album that I did not expect to like as much as I do, it's very unique, I haven't heard a 'rap' album like this before... The jazz really works with Common's rapping and it's relaxing at the same time. It's something you would have on in the background if you were focusing, it simply is a great album from 2 experienced artists who have really kept up with the times, creating something out of the blue. It's production, lyrics, beats are just so ... read more

Travis Scott - UTOPIA
90

I love this album. Although a bit more inconsistent than his other work, it has so many bangers that will age for many years to come. It's got a darker vibe which really suits Travis and I'm glad he experimented with it more than this album, as it feels a lot more fresh and modern than some of his older work that really started to age poorly. It's beautiful, electric and dynamic. SIRENS is one of my favourite Travis songs of all time. It's just so good, just like this album. ... read more

Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD

This album used to be a lot higher, but this for some reason didn't age well for me, at it's time really was the best album of 2018 but now, not so much. I mean it's still great, it has a high banger ratio and little duds, it's just some songs are harder to listen to now without just cringing a little bit, as it just didn't age the best overall, and has a lot of duds. However the production is top tier, the use of different techniques in many songs that didn't ... read more

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight

I really find this album enjoyable. I think it's overhated and is really iconic, but I personally really connect to this album, I do think Rodeo is slightly better but not by much, I think the production on this album slips a little bit and features worse lyricisim by Travis and some songs are really annoying to listen to, but some of the tracks are really good on this project and work really well, but this album didn't age super well as well, as it feels a bit cornier than his other ... read more
