Drove home from work while listening to this album.
It was dark outside and I live in a wooded area. When I pulled up to my house, there was this possum with a bunch of babies on its back. It didn't pay me any mind, it just continued out trotting with its babies on its back.
Quite a peak moment in my life right there.
There is nothing I can add to the discussion of this album, so I will say that I finally got my drivers license and drove myself to get Popeyes today.
This is significant to me because it took me way to long to get it. In my state, you can get your license at the age of 15. I am 22. It took me seven years to finally grow up.
But it's okay, I still have some childlike wonder and whimsey.
And Popeyes.
I think we owe Sleep Token a bit of an apology as I think this is infinitely worse than Even In Arcadia and will go down as the worst metal album of the year.
If anything can be classified as gentrified metal, it's this album. No substance, no memorable riffs or themes. Just pure fucking cringe, trying to be edgy to make up for lack of substance.
Fuck this album.
This album will go in the potential sex playlist with other sensual classics like MF and Imagine Dragons.
I really enjoy metal music that is able to weave in harsh and soft elements together. However, sometimes a band isn't quite able to nail both aspects in tandem with one another compared to one of those sounds in particular.
Whitechapel is one of those groups. They really fucking nail the pure, hard-hitting deathcore sound, but not quite the calm sound alongside the harsh sound.
That said, I still enjoyed the majority of what I've heard. Hickory Creek is the main highlight as ... read more
Wasn't sure how to feel about the album until I gave it another listen. I think it's pretty good. It's insanely quick, but still leaves a bit of room for massive chuggage with some neat bass solos here and there.
I'm not huge on the vocals or how sterile the sound feel sometimes, but it is a pretty fun album that fully commits to being fast and vicious.
I have a long history with this album. For a long time, it was the only deathcore album I listened to. In fact, I believe this was the FIRST deathcore album I listened to. Because of this, I tend to base all of my opinions on this genres off this album.
Coming back to it now a few years later, I still think it deserves that high bar.
Starting off, Infant Annihilator is a band that prides itself with making the fastest, most insane brain-melting music you will ever hear. There is no subtly or ... read more
Guys, this album fucks.
I get a real big, stupid grin on my face when I listen to this album. This album kicks so much ass. It's so good it excuses the fact that it's British.
Hallowed Be Thy Name is the obvious highlight of the album, but Run to the Hills and The Number of the Beast are also amazing.
I would like two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 9 with extra dip, a number 9, two number 9s (one with cheese), and a large soda.
A damn near flawless hip-hop debut that really got me hyped up about what these guys could do in the future. If this was their first go at something like this, imagine how much better it could be when they get better at their craft.
This must be how my mother feels when she says gracias to the Asian waiter at the Italian restaurant.
😐🤷♂️ Meh.
I've listened to pretty much every album by this band at this point, and I've come to the unfortunate realization that I don't really like them very much. The Great Cold Distance was their peak for me, and everything released before or after doesn't hit me nearly as hard as that album does.
This album isn't bad, but I do find it very bland. There is no seasoning to this thing. It's big moment don't hit as hard as they should, nor do ... read more
Michael Gira is a pretentious hack. I love him.
Strong start, let me slow down a little bit.
The music made by Swans is notoriously long, drawn out and noisy. There are a lot of bands that make music like this, but none of them do it exactly the way thee guys do.
At some point I plan to listen to this band's entire discography and I'm sure I will joke about Gira's style of songwriting a lot, and call him a hack while I do it.
In truth, I don't think he is really a hack. ... read more
That title is so terrible it makes me want to rate it lower than I currently have it.
This album is pretty solid, but it has that edgy teenager feel to it with its lyrics and overall aesthetic, something I expected Behemoth to be above. These guys should know better.
Thankfully, the music itself is pretty solid. Solid riffs, production is beefy, it’s an alright album overall.
You are a poser if you think this album is bad.
Metal as a genre has one of the wildest rabbit holes out of any genre of music. Like how is this album in the same lane as Grindcore, Hardcore, Slam, and Black Metal?
I've been a metal fan for eight years now, and Metallica's "Black Album" was one of the gateway projects for me to fall in love with the genre. Coming back to it now, I still love it.
Biggest thing is the way this album sounds. This is one of the best produced ... read more
This is hoe scaring music. If any woman catches you listening to this, they will pepper spray your ass faster than you can down a cup of lean and perc 30s.
On the bright side, any moves you make while you writhe in pain can also be used in a Peeling Flesh mosh pit. It's a transferable skill.
