Too bad this album is just safe in what it is. Not trying to be anything more than a collection of some good ass songs, but also some songs that just aren’t it chief.
Didn’t realize it would be this varied in sound. Given the title, I thought it’d be more ethereal and reverb heavy. I’m glad it’s something more unique and three dimensional though. As this album is very unique and is not confided to a simple set of words and phrases.
At the beginning, I thought the ambience was weird and a huge pace killer. But the more the album went on, the more I fell into it. Definitely aided by Elizabeth Fraser’s beautiful voice. I don’t know what she’s saying, but it doesn’t matter.
Big hits aside, this album is pretty average. The snare gets really annoying at points but Michael can sing his ass off. The hits however carry this album tenfold and without them, this album doesn’t really have anything. Sadly, the weakest of this trilogy by a long shot.
Some real good bangers, other songs feel forgettable and half baked ideas. Has a cool concept though.
As we finish up our saga, we find ourselves looping back to where we started. In a beautiful trance of awe striking pain that’s hard to look away from. Thank you William, for everything you’ve given me.
A distorted mess of beautiful sounds that feels more uplifting than soul crushing. The world is healing in a horrible, gruesome way.
This album really is the sound of a glooming tragedy moving at Mach 10 with no end in sight and no way to stop it. Which makes it all the more beautiful in the very end.
Pretty good outing from the band honestly, just a shame that they’re British.
A tragedy beautifully painted without words or picture. Just real raw atmosphere that draws you in and doesn’t pull you out until the silence starts.
Lil yachty is cool and James compliments him well both vocally and production wise. What else is there to say about it?
It’s actually good wtf? I’m shocked. This album shouldn’t be good. His past albums weren’t good. But this one has compelling production, lyrics, and flows. Yes some songs suck and try way too hard, but more often than not, I’m enjoying myself. Which I didn’t expect to say.
This feels more like a victory lap than an actual album. It has a lot of bangers but also has a lot of uninteresting filler with a more poppy sound that works sometimes and falls completely flat other times.
While being very immature and not aging very well, it’s still well made with some standout bars and consistently good production and solid hooks. Totally makes sense as to why EM blew up after this, it’s the perfect recipe.
As a return to form, it’s fine. Nothing stands out from this album, it’s just all very basic and uninspired. Really shows us how little the band has grown and how much they’ve actually regressed since the 80’s.
