Boring until Alex turner starts to sing. Then it becomes annoying to listen to. They truly do have two sides
I’m at a loss for words with this one. It’s just so beautiful sonically, lyrically, vocally, in every way this thing surpassed any expectations I had of it going in. All I knew is that the funny melon man gave it a non cannon ten and one of my friends gave it to me as a recommendation. From the crisp drums to those ever so beautiful guitar strings and the two vocalists have so much chemistry even when they’re not on the same song.
Car seat headrest wishes they could make music as memorable as this
If this thing was only the first 23 songs it’d be a 10. But regardless. This thing is a musical tyrant disguised as a cute little album about love. The lyrics are great, same thing with the guitar playing. I’ll definitely need more time with this thing though.
I feel bad for not liking this as much as I should. It should be a home run but it comes pretty short. SZA’s vocals are so good on almost all 23 songs which is really impressive and the production is so sweet sounding. But, this thing should not be 23 songs long. And the writing is incredibly inconstant.
Holy shit I can hear what he’s saying.
This thing, while being good, is easily outclassed by rainbow bridge 3. I found what dragged the album down was pretty much every song having the same structure and the production sounding relatively the same. But it doesn’t kill the project and it’s still overall pretty decent. Just nothing special .
As I slowly make it through the car seat headrest discography, the music is of a lower quality but I am more entertained by it.
Banger ass soundtrack from probably my favourite game of all time
Is this album pretentious and too long for its own good? Yes. Is mark not a very good person? Yes. But are his lyrics and stories interesting, funny, and thought provoking backed by beautiful guitar and bass playing with crispy drums in the back? Also yes.
Uninteresting production, annoying vocals, way too long, bored me to death despite trying to be high energy.
I have no words.
This thing is pure unadulterated beauty throughout its gargantuan runtime. And while I didn’t understand a lot of the lyrical content, I will for sure go back in and figure it out.
This album really impressed me. It’s so mystical and pretty and mystifying I love it. I’ve always liked Sufjan but I’ve never loved him but I think this album will really guide me into his discography.
(Edit: 89-94) Wow. This one has grown on me even more. It’s just a great concept fully realized. It really stands above the rest of his discography. Quality wise and concept wise as well.
