This shit broke me. It doesn’t start out great but it starts off good enough as to where you won’t think the album becomes so annoying and intolerable thing you’ve ever heard. But it does. After track six the album becomes unlistenable. “It feels like we’re flying, but maybe we’re dying” has got to be one of the dumbest and fake deep lyrics I’ve ever heard. Fuck this album and joe Hawley for being a pretentious annoying transphobe
One of the most daring, striking, and kinda freaky singer-songwriter albums I’ve ever heard. It feels like this shouldn’t work. Tom’s singing voice is so unpolished but it works. It works so well. The production is so varied too. Going from low bass to incorporating many brass instruments. This album isn’t gonna be for everybody, but it’s for me
I wish she’d dip her toes more into folk really. It’s still good but I wish she went all in instead of this half and half thing. Also that bon iver feature was really disappointing. Barely felt like it was actually him singing. It just sounded like boring generic man
Every time I come back, I always leave with no words. This thing still rips nearly 50 years later and is just so good you guys. It’s easily the best pink Floyd album I’ve yet to hear and honestly, I don’t know how they can top this. A powerful, shunning critique of fame, Hollywood, and the music industry at large that are still valid today. Roger is a menace to society we need to lock him up
I think what they’re going for has been already done infinitely better and more interesting on girl with basket of fruit. I think what kills this one for me is the lack of Jamie. Like, he’s not on a lot of these songs and idk why. He fits in so well it’s kinda odd to me. But disregarding that, this album sets up its central vibe really well and doesn’t stop until the albums over.
Boringly simple. Yet not bad enough to leave a lasting impression. Idk how swans of all bands could make an album this stripped back and simple. This just feels like an excuse to calm down after children of god.
Some of the most fun I’ve ever had listening to an album. So glad it’s on Spotify now
I do not get how this thing has a positive score. It’s one of the least catchy pop albums I’ve ever heard. The lyrics I found to be incredibly cringey and outdated nowadays. She’s like the more accepted AJR. And I’m sick of comparing every cringe pop act with AJR but I find it’s required now because of how stained their image is. But yeah, cringe album. Mrs potato head was good I guess though
The perfect background album. Put it on and focus more on whatever else you’re doing. It’ll sound better that way
I don’t need to write this review. You already know the albums good. Like c’mon. It’s like the album. If you think of an album it’s gonna be this one. And that’s a fact
After my relisten, I have to say. This album made me almost cry in the beginning. It’s not something that I expected at all. But I appreciate it. But then the middle three tracks come in. And while they’re not bad, they’re definitely operating at a lower level than the first three. But that one two punch at the end makes up for it. I hope I understand all the hype for bon iver because I haven’t really felt it until this relisten.
Some pretty good pop rap. Some misses but overall an enjoyable experience. But, I’m not gonna lie to you. If this wasn’t made my lil Wayne nobody would’ve remembered it
This album made me think more than most. Mainly about how much an album should sacrifice originality for musical quality. While listening, all I could think was “damn, I wanna listen to some xiu xiu right now.”, But that didn’t take away from the albums quality whatsoever. It just made my listening experience more flawed than it should’ve, taking in the relative high quality of the album. But ignoring that, near the end the album still drags on a little.
This is everything a metal album should be. Fast, hard hitting, great vocals, great lyrics. The songs don’t really end strong though. They just kinda, end. Which sucks. Also I do hate how that last song is 20 minutes of nothing with a regular deftones song at the beginning and at the end. But oh well
Really disappointed me. The first 3 songs are so good. The middle is kinda eh, then the album just nosedives in the back end.
Without a doubt, the hardest hitting debut rap album I’ve heard. While it may not have the most polish, I think it works. It makes the album feel more grimy and dirty sounding. Which is a plus. I’ll definitely be coming back to this one in the future
After the monumental journeys swans have given us with the seer and to be kind, I see the glowing man as a required reflective masterpiece. And while it is the weakest of the trilogy, it without a doubt has the best song from the trilogy with the title track.
